Buy a , the can crusher, ive crushed so many cans with them ive worn out 3 of them. Litterly 1000s of lbs of crushed cans. Doing it with your feet makes a mess on the floor can make you twist your ankle and causes you to bend over to lay them down and pick them up. With a can crusher you can crush 1 every 2 seconds ive filled a 35 gallon trash bag full of crushed cans in 30 min thats about 23 lbs a bag give or take a lb or 2. I save them untill the price of scrap goes up, best time to sell scrap is in the spring Becuse most metal foundries shut down in the winter and around the end of July the price for scrap starts to drop but after winter is over the foundries are hungry for more scrap metal to prosses. Worst time to sell scrap is after Christmas you wont get much scrap yards are buying it to sell in the spring and they dont have as much working capitol and want to make a profit. So they undercut the value more.
Those are good tips. Thanks! I have around three huge trash bags full of crushed cans and was thinking of scrapping them soon, but now I'll wait until spring.
some places they collect the metal flap at top as they use the metal towards things like wheel chairs. I dont know much about it but at an old job yrs ago, there was a collection jar for those and when I asked my boss about it, he explained it. I think its great idea to adopt in communities. maybe not so easy to get started but im sure its not all that difficult where cans are still being used.
@@Radnick0024 It rather depends on where you live and/or which version of English you learned. England's spelling = aluminium. Al-yoo-min-ee-um is how I say it.
Thanks for the tip. I just started crushing with foot. Mostly on regular cans. My dad showed me the trick of using a ground stomper to crush cans. Hard for tall cans. Plan using this trick.
I don’t buy that air pressure business. The ground will block airflow just as much as your shoe, possibly more. Plus, with the open side facing down, you can get a little bit of dribbling of soda out of the can and make a mess. Why not just use one of those lever action can crushers?
With a name like "Walton," I'm wondering if it's possible we are related? As for the air pressure, check it out and give it a try, you will be shocked. I will admit, though, that you have a good point about drips coming out. Crush them outside or wait until they have had time to dry out.
I came up with an idea that works perfectly. I put a big block on wood on my electric wood splitter by the wedge. It crushes cans and bottles wonderfully without splitting the wood!
The type of guy who calls a neighbor to fix his screen door when it starts slamming shut, but doesn't offer him any money as a thank you, because he always reminds him of the old refrigerator that he gave him six years ago that the neighbor uses in his garage! 😂
Instead of using your foot why don't you go to Harbor Freight or Lowe's or Home Depot or you can look online for a tamper I have a blue one it's really strong and sturdy because the other one broke on me because me and my friend was trying to fix it and then he said you can have this blue one the blue one is very heavy it does get the job done and it's a good workout so I have two of them one's from Harbor Freight
I suppose the upside down trick will depend on your footwear and what your floor looks like cuz your floor could easily block air just as much as your foot
Well why do the recycling places tell you NOT to crush the cans as crushed cans can confuse the system as they no longer have their original shape! Don’t know but I’M confused now! Have always crushed them myself with lids inside so as they aren’t sharp. 🤷♂️
i miss read your message and thought it said 5cent a pound. 90cent is actually pretty good....or not i mean it is New York thats like 50cent anywhere else or less
Thank you! I am buying a pair of crocs just for this instead of an expensive can crusher!! Great video
Bonus tip. Don't pinch in the middle. Pinch at the bottom of the can, which in this video, would be the top.
I was thinking of buying a $50 can crusher off of Amazon. Thank you for saving me money!

Every time Americans pronounce aluminium as aluminum, a little furry kitty dies somewhere in the world. Stop killing cats. for friggin' sake! :-)
what... you mean aluminum? or aluminum? or...
If it were spelled "alumi-nium" it'd make sense, but it's actually "alumi-num"?

As an educator, can confirm that this is educational as this helped my students find better ways to crush cars
This guy made a video, you fill up a plastic bag with cans, run it over with your car tire couple times, and you've crushed 50 at once
Impressive.

We don’t drink enough soda cans for it to matter. Hahaha
Maybe you could give them to somebody that does save cans. It's just a suggestion.

Lol this video is hilarious. And wow, it works so great , I just tried it on tall cans!!

**How To Crush Cans Scientifically**
I am 41 years old when I learned I’ve been doing it wrong.

good tip

Did you get a tamper at the hardware store to smash cans I was just wondering
Good tip
smashing it upside down is actually big brain moment.
Yes indeed! POG
Very important information for 2024!
Great vid will save so much room in my recycling bin, 👍👍
Running over cans with tracked military vehicles is highly effective and requires zero finesse!
But… but…
I just put them in the crusher and push the button. They come out the hole paper thin.
Life hack of the century
I use a can crusher so I don’t think it matters for me
Well why do the recycling places tell you NOT to crush the cans as crushed cans can confuse the system as they no longer have their original shape! Don’t know but I’M confused now! Have always crushed them myself with lids inside so as they aren’t sharp. 🤷♂️
Do I need Crocs for this?
NO... crocs suck. What was I thinking??
If you want to waste your time, watch this video!!! 😂
Noooo…. Why are you trolling me. Lol
So I need a pair of Crocs and it only works on Diet Dr. Pepper cans? That's all I got from this video.
thanks for this amazing life tip Thane Walton!!!!!!
Nope
I remove the tab and push the hole
Really. Silliest shit I've ever wasted my time on.
Excellent never done it upside down before. Ill try that got a load of beer to drink
Pace yourself... one at a time
I use my car to crush cans😂
If you're having difficulty managing the amount of soda cans you have, maybe you drink too much soda.
Or just don't crush cans. What's the point? Making more busy work for yourself?
Crush 'em so I can take larger batch to recycle... plus... a little exercise.
I use a can crusher
I just use my hands to crush the cans completely 😛Make sure you have gloves on though...🤣
great video Thane Walton!!!
Thanks @jet64... hopefully this valuable lesson will be helpful to you!
My devices instead of using your foot why don't you make your own can crusher or go buy one Master crush is what I pick
😮😮😮😮YOOOOOOO•••My DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE! Thank yooooou!!
😅❤😊🎉
Does anyone live in Vermont and recycle cans there ? I've heard you can get 5 cents per can?
dang thats low, you can look up the price on it for your state/province
@@Gigawatt-h24 Dude, I'm in NC it's only 70 cents a pound right now, it was at 90 cents a month ago, weird
@@Gigawatt-h24 you think that's low? How much do you get, and are you in Canada?
