He did great. Give Matatia a break. He's multi-talented and just as hardworking as the rest of his family. He's a master percussionist.
His speaking voice sounded much closer than his singing voice in my opinion. But it takes a lot to perform live so props for not missing words or failing!
That's because he wasn't the original voice actor tamatoa. So maybe he had his own version of singing it 💕
@@Yupp12078 Sure, but he missed a lot of the important tiny bits when it comes to the melody to convey the craziness and self centered-ness of Tamatoa. Lets just say it this way: It didn't sound convincing to me as if he actually told his story. A lot parts were quite kinda flat or out of character. Some of the most prominent spots as I quickly go through it again are the way he says "like a womens neck" 02:02 also "glitters" and "beginners" 02:10 doesn't sound as condecending as it needs to be for the narcissistic character ^^. Same with "fish dinners". It doesn't sound convincing. There is missing the "joy" of having fooled those fish. The second half was much better.
Don't get me wrong, he's for sure a great singer and live concerts are really difficult. This was just an sujective comparison to the original with the original intentions in mind.
