That line, “I will carry you here in my heart to remind me that come what may, I’ll know the way” gets me every time. I’m embroidering it to frame and hang next to pictures of my brother and sister, both of whom died well before their time (10 and 26). They were, and are, my strength.
I know the pain, not from siblings, but within these past ten years alone I've lost both parents, three grandparents, and a very close friend. And I remember them fondly whenever I'm happy or sad. Yes I may cry, but I know they would be there cheering me on or trying to comfort me. It's horrible to lose family, especially so young, and grieving is never easy, but they are always with you, living forget in your heart, and know like my parents, grandparents, and friends that have passed...your siblings are with you everyday, loving and cheering you on. And I am to.

Do you know the bit they sing at the end after she sings “I am Moana”? The chant-like verse they sing at the end? What are the lyrics and what do they mean? I am absolutely in love with this music and although I don’t speak it I firmly believe the only way to honour a song like this is to learn it in its original language. I’ve already learned Logo Te Pate and We Know The Way by heart and would be so grateful if you would be able to enlighten me. PS: your language is beautiful! ♥️♥️
Lyrics I know a girl from an island She stands apart from the crowd She loves the sea and her people She makes her whole family proud Sometimes the world seems against you The journey may leave a scar But scars can heal and reveal just Where you are The people you love will change you The things you have learned will guide you And nothing on Earth can silence The quiet voice still inside you And when that voice starts to whisper "Moana, you've come so far" Moana, listen Do you know who you are? Who am I? I'm a girl who loves my island And the girl who loves the sea It calls me I am the daughter of the village chief We are descended from voyagers Who found their way across the world They call me I've delivered us to where we are I have journeyed farther I am everything I've learned and more Still, it calls me And the call isn't out there at all, it's inside me It's like the tide Always falling and rising I will carry you here in my heart, you'll remind me That come what may I know the way I am Moana
Not me bawling like a baby when I listen to this song. 😂 This song still completely wrecks me at my grown age of 36! I had that special bond with my grandmother growing up that Moana had with hers, and listening to this song just reminds me how lucky I was and how much I miss her! ❤️
the music of moana is one of my favourite soundtracks of all time. i cannot listen to this song without crying, it reminds me of my nana and how she and i spoken when i was a child, she died of bowel cancer when i was 6 years old and I had already been through things that no child/person should go through in those first 6 years and she had helped me and then she died and 24 years later i still can't think about her without crying. i miss her so much that it hurts and i feel as if she is talking to me through moana's grandmother. many thanks to the singers and performers of the original cast and of these amazing performers, love to you all from Liverpool, England
this song touches me soooo much like this movie means sooo much to me not only because of the cultural aspect but because of the story too. i related soooo much to moana and still feel the struggle some times and i'm just reminded of moana's journey. and music is such a powerful form of art that invokes strong emotion, and i really enjoyed this version of the song. i'm not a pacific islander but i'm indigenous too and i really appreciate this and i love seeing this kind of representation. it means the world to me, and i hope we get to see more of it.
it became impossible for me to listen to this song, I was in the cinema with my wife and daughter, I turned off my cell phone, my father in Italy was hospitalized , trying and wanted to give a moment of lightheartedness, during the movie my mom and my sister call me. and i was taken by this song ... my dad is dead!! and even today at 50 years I can not hold back my tears .. I knew it was his time ... but even today I can not see this movie without crying ..
This movie hits me, too. It was one of my little sisters favorites. Every time the line “I will carry you here in my heart to remind me that come what may, I’ll know the way” played, I’d sing it to her. Despite my wretched voice, she’d just smile at me her through her ventilator mask. She’s been gone 2 years and it’s so hard to believe it.
*"I am the girl who loves my Island. I am the girl who love the sea, it calls me. I am the daughter of the village chief"* i connect with this phrase so much. And my parents might not be the chief of our village but, they are part of the officials.
I love how after a whole movie's worth of How Far I'll Go reprises, you realize all along the musical phrase wasn't quite complete. It was always the backing instruments that resolved the melody. It was always missing that final line, which she finally sings at the peak of this song - *I am Moana!* Ughhhhh so many chills.
I would not be able to sing this out loud because I literally cry everytime I've tried. It's so beautiful and wholesome I can't help to spread tears of joy
My goodness, this song in the Moana movie makes me teared eye..😓😓😓I can feel the emotion and just like the song reflection, it says to trust who you are and accept who you are. An absolutely beautifully written and "harmonized" song!!... This song means everything! It stands alone, as one of the most touching & meaningful friendship songs between people! Moana and her grandma! It's just so endearing, the way she always encourages her to follow her heart, to do what she's being called to do, by the inner voice calling inside of her!.. Sometimes the world seems against you
The journey may leave a scar

Where you are

The quiet voice still inside you

"Moana, you've come so far"
Moana, listen
Do you know who you are?
Who am I?
I'm a girl who loves my island
And the girl who loves the sea
It calls me
I am the daughter of the village chief
We are descended from voyagers
Who found their way across the world
They call me
I've delivered us to where we are
I have journeyed farther
I am everything I've learned and more
Still, it calls me
And the call isn't out there at all, it's inside me
It's like the tide
Always falling and rising
I will carry you here in my heart, you'll remind me
That come what may
I know the way
I am Moana
