I love the way your feet rarely leave the ground while skating down the sidewalk. Awesome! I really hope you keep making skating content. Your a badass! 😁
Such a great video. The hair thing is so true! No one mentions it. I didn't even realize it could happen until I was taking my skate off one day and say I had a massive hairball wrapped around each of my back outside wheels. It was wildly surprising!
Can't wait for part 2! I have old skates (29 years old) with plastic pivot cups very sturdy bushings and with all the adjustments I made I still can't get the feel for dance. Figured that if I can do it with these the easier it gets when I buy good ones... Bubble blown... need to get advice in a shop.
Dance is so tough, but there are some great drills to do to progress!! I also had a part II shot, edited & ready-to-go, but honestly I know so much more now, I think I'll re-do it!! Hope you were able to find the right setup for you!! Happy skating Christina ❤
@@Darbyshmarby after I posted my skates broke... Bought a new pair a dutch label (RSI) and love them only the toestops bothered so now I own a pair of lovely Rookie skates with adjustable ones. Need to find the perfect wheels and time to practice....
I commented on a previous video. Omg! I laughed so hard at you talking about your aunt's vintage skates. "Rusted to shit". Hahahahaha! She would have been one cool chick in Venice back then! I love vintage skates. I have 3 very stylin' pairs which always get some attention. I skate outdoors on 1970s Black Knights. As old as I am. 48. They had barely been worn, but totally disintegrated bits. The hand made leather boot is divine. I fully rebuilt mine before I stepped out on them. That quality doesn't exist anymore. The metal plates are just brilliant. Many people starting out skating don't realise how important knowing about your running gear is. Get familiar with tools and keeping your wheels clean! Also, indoor and outdoor wheels. Switch them out for the right surfaces. This is all good experiential advice. Best of luck with your channel and stay safe on those wheels!
Wow!!! you re-built them?? That's absolutely incredible. I respect that so much!! They really don't make them the same anymore. I do love how lightweight modern skates are comparatively, but to get GOOD quality definitely costs!! Vintage skates so much love and knowledge to make them work--admire you a lot for undertaking that!! Happy skating ❤❤❤
"If artistic skating is what you're pursuing, its not the kind of skating I would recommend learning on your own" Me, having never skated before in my life, being completely sedentary, and training figure roller skating by myself for two years now: "watch me" 😂 But tomorrow I'll finally see a coach so I can improve more 🥰
This has been my 2nd day skating, yesterday I only skated for about 1 hour today I skated for 3 hours. Today I already took out a lot of hairs from between my wheels. I want to wait as long as possible to take off my wheels so that I can have a better feeling of how my skates feel as a sort of reference for when I put the wheels back on. But I shed sooooo much hair this is gonna be hard.
So good! I loved that! Exactly the type of video I’ve been looking for. Thank you for all the info. I have a $100 impala pair and love them but have been thinking/wondering about how/what to upgrade too… I have more tools in my belt now with what to think about when buying my next pair. Thanks
Enjoyed this. I’m thinking about getting back on skates at 49 so this was valuable info. What setup would you suggest for someone wanting to skate outdoors on rough neighborhood pavement and wide sidewalks? Part two?? 😉
YESSS FULLY SUPPORT YOU GETTING BACK ON SKATES!! Which skate will depend a lot on what you want to do (whether you want speed, agility, ankle support, maneuverability, personal preference!) BUT probably opting for some gummer wheels (78a or softer) would definitely be the move!! I also personally prefer a slightly stiffer boot with ankle support, but that's up to you! Many people roll with sneaker skates and are perfectly happy :D sorry this reply is so late, but hope that's at least a little bit helpful Scott! Happy skating ❤
I wish someone would have jammed it into my brain to LEARN HOW TO FALL better, I broke my leg badly only a couple days into learning to skate 😭 I love love love your cruising videos and just wanna relax like that, sigh maybe one day
10000% falling is such a skill. I'm SO sorry to hear about your leg!!! I hope it's healed up now and you're back to skating!!! sending you lots of love ♥
Outstanding. You are very eloquent and come across well. I kept thinking you were Latina by some music choices etc. I saw the other day your BF is a Spanish speaker haha

LMAO I FEEL YOUR PAIN. Having a broom handy & not being lazy about sweeping before definitely helps a lot RIP 😂
I got my grandma's vintage roller skates...I think I'm just gonna use them as decor 😅 I noticed the same dangers on these ones
That is absolutely the move 😂🙌🙌🙌
Many thanks for sharing all this information. I am just starting and seems valuable for me.
So happy to hear it!!!

Vacuum
🤣🤣🤣
1000% 🤣 still somewhat inevitable though--the shedding can happen mid-skate lol
