So this is probably already a lost cause for you since you're just going to deny anything and everything counter to what you stupidly believe anyways. But what you said makes absolutely no sense. If cops had to be present for every crime committed in order to arrest somebody, almost nobody would get arrested ever.
There are some obvious cases where it's required that you can go ahead and straw-man but I'm just letting you know the moment I recognize you doing that, I'll just stop reading and will start trolling.

It's usually the case (and rightfully so) that a victim reports the assault, a cop comes to investigate and if they decide there's enough evidence (injuries) they go ahead and arrest the attacker. And guess what? They don't even need to see video footage of it either (and shouldn't have to).

If you can get arrested for propositioning a prostitute, why in the world can't you be arrested for propositioning a minor and specifically a child under 13 ? The law makers in any state that don't draft the necessary laws protecting our children in circumstances like this need to be held accountable BEFORE a tragedy happens.

I feel like "propositioning a minor" is in fact a crime, but of course it's something very specific, so officers couldn't technically do anything about it, so they gotta grasp at straws to get him of something else, anything else, just to take him in. I thinks laws should have more room for common sense. Anyone could see what this guy was after, but i guess he didn't say the right magic words to trigger the specific crime of "propositioning a minor". I've been through this BS with cops before, it sucks. Nonces get away with so much, you wouldn't believe.

I am bipolar just as he claims he is, and mania/hypomania or even a full-blown psychotic episode can make you do CRAZY things that are completely sporadic, dangerous, and out of ones normal nature. I'm not excusing what he did, and the punishment was laughingly weak. No kid deserves to be in this type of situation, but I also think that if he isn't in control or well, he needs major help as an inpatient. I also don't think he should be practising law with bipolar disorder and being un-medicated, and after this, if he still has a client base to work with, should remove himself from family law scenarios entirely.

I agree. When I was about 8, my mom went inside this building, and after a while I got bored and went to look for her. As I was looking in the building's windows, a white van (the stereotypical one we all think about in these situations) pulled up, and a dude leaned out the window and said "What are you doing out here?" With like a kid-friendly smiley demeanor. I said "I'm just waiting for my mom. Her car and her boyfriend (still in the car) is right over there." And he pulled off after I said that. I assumed it was security roaming the perimeter. I assumed that until one day about 20 years later, I realized in all my time as an adult, in all the jobs I've had, I've never seen a place that has security rolling around in white vans, and that guy was probably a pervert. I don't know for sure though. Just the thought that that COULD have been a close call has me shook for all the kids that had to experience it for real, and for the kids that will in the future.

A bit of context - as the man here mentions in the video, he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and hadn't been taking his medication. However, he does not just have bipolar - he has bipolar with psychosis, likely schizoaffective disorder. He hadn't been taking any medication when this episode happened and he was in the middle of a psychotic episode. When you look at the video this lines up: most pedophiles or offenders of that nature react like criminals when they're caught, because they ARE criminals - they will lie for their benefit, attempt to mislead in a rational manner, etc. This guy straight up just admits to anything whenever he's pushed - he's asked if he likes kids, he says no, then he's asked again and he says yes - what criminal would just admit to that? He's asked if he asked the boy to go on a boat with him and he freely admits it - why would he admit to that while knowing it makes him look so much worse? It's clear that this guy is just completely disconnected from reality - even the dumbest criminals wouldn't answer questions the way he's doing it, and he's a freaking lawyer at that.
I'm guessing some people will say that he was doing this because he somehow knew he would get the light punishment he received...that's not the case. There's no bigger slam dunk for a prosecutor than putting away a pedophile, so it doesn't make sense that they'd just pass him up. The authorities actually gained access to his devices and found no evidence of any child pornography as well. These findings and his medical history are the only reason this guy is able to continue practicing law (he was investigated by the bar association). I feel bad for the guy because this situation clearly looks awful but it seems like he genuinely was in the middle of a psychotic episode where he was disconnected from reality and now his life is ruined. In any case though, thank god for the aware workers at the beach who stopped this situation, because pedophile or not, letting two children stay with a person who is suffering from a psychotic episode is a recipe for disaster.

There was an incident maybe 10 years ago here in Scotland where a male went to a police station to state he was sexually attracted to children, lived near a school and was scared he’d abuse a child.
The police said there’s nothing they can do until he offends, which is insane.
Next contact he had with the police was when the put in his door 6 months later as he’d kidnapped and abused a young girl
There needs to be a point where someone scared they’ll offend or if others suspect someone will offend, there’s a point of intervention.

THAT is a mental health issue and sadly you are 100% correct. However, I don't think mental health issues should be put on the police. There needs to be a separate entity that cares for mental health issues such as that. Psychopaths, Sociapaths, Anti-Social Personality Disorder, Pedophiles, Necrophiliacs, etc Need to be handled BEFORE they commit these terrible atrocities. If you've watched a lot of EWU ( or any murder interrogations) you'll find MANY who were diagnosed and KNOWN as "high-risk" yet the just walked the streets...
