Not sure how politics factors into anything, but if you want to bring it up... I was in a discord for 2016's election, all of us were Trump supporters. A LOT of the guys were trying to get into a 15 year old girl's pants, wanted the age of consent lowered, said women over 20 were used up hags, etc.

People need to chill and let police officers do their work. As much as the father would love to see him get arrested on the spot, the police officers need to conduct an investigation before that could happen.

How you think the officers felt who also have kids trying to keep their shit together to conduct this investigation while also trying to keep the parents calm. All while operating in on the confines of the law to keep things admissable in court later so he doesn't walk. If those parents assault him he becomes a victim and they will lose the golden opportunity to interrogate him which would likely mean he'd have gotten over. Massive kudos to those officers doing that and keeping their own anger in check cuz it's not easy. Even more so after the guy attempted to assault him it is really hard to not want to do more than just place them on the ground. Because if they did and let their anger out on him they would end up in handcuffs later on and potentially lose your job amongst civil rights lawsuits from people who don't understand what's going on. That is not an easy process to be in it is very mentally taxing I get massive respect to those officers not everybody can do it.

If it's not illegal to misrepresent yourself as a child's guardian, it absolutely should be.
Edit: Because people keep mentioning it. Yes, attempted kidnapping is a crime. However, you have to prove that they were attempting to remove the child from the location. Currently, it would seem that lying about being the child's parent/guardian is not considered enough proof of intent. It's this that I feel needs to change. Either it should be considered evidence of attempted kidnapping, or it should just be straight-up illegal. I understand that in most cases, lies of identity are protected under free speech. However, I think there is good cause to argue that certain, very specific lies are not allowed. For example, you can't lie to a police officer about your identity when they tell you to identify yourself during an investigation. Perhaps we could at least make it illegal to lie to a school/daycare/hospital worker, etc. about your guardianship of a child under their care. They are required to surrender a child to their guardian, so lying about this to one of these specific people should be considered an attempt to gain control of the minor.

There was a crossing guard there and I smiled at him as I crossed as a nod for his presumed assistance with crossing. He began talking to me and asked me to go to his home to "take pretty woman picture", I freaked and ran away as fast as I could. That encounter haunted me to this day and I regret that I was young and didn't know this should be reported. I pray and hoped that he didn't put his hands on other girls.

When child predation escalates to the point of seeking out victims, they have already consumed hundreds, even thousands of hours of child porn consumption. How many children were assaulted that he happily relished in watching being assaulted? Thousands.

That’s probably the most disgusting thing I’ve ever heard a predator say about a literal child. I hope this creature rots in prison. It’s bad enough he came to this school with the intention of drugging, kidnapping, and doing unspeakable things to a kindergartner, but him having the nerve to fight a police officer not once, but twice inside a station?
This is also a VERY good reason as to why you should never post events for children on social media…

He has no prior convictions. There is no evidence of him ever harming anybody. He may be charged for attempted kidnapping based on his 'confession', although if he has a half decent lawyer then that will be dropped as he made about 12 different confessions and it would be difficult to prove this 1 particular thing said out of 12+ things said was truth and the rest lies. Most likely he will be charged with assaulting the police officer.

For whatever reason, he seemed to be in a forthcoming and confessional mood at the time the first officer was questioning him, probably because he seemed so calm and sympathetic. He could have got confessions about prior crimes and names of other victims. Clearly he's mentally disturbed and erratic, and as soon as the tone and the scene is changed, he's likely to clam up and shut his mouth.
At the time though, he was just answering everything and admitting to multiple felonies. Really frustrating to see that broken up cuz other cop is mad and wants to take him to the station. He can confess just fine sitting on a sidewalk as he can in an interrogation room. They fucked up by not letting him keep going.

Any experienced cop will tell people that it doesn't matter what they know. What matters is what they can prove. That's why they need warrants or probable cause. And if an investigation shows reasonable doubt after an arrest, they'll be forced to let the suspect go and drop the charges against them. This is why many murder cases have gone unsolved or ended up being ruled as suicides.
