For charlie's situation I posted the full image of his apology post, I understand that he didn't want it to be public. Form your own opinions about the people in this video, but at the end of they day, they really aren't the main focus of my topic. Jimbo is in the thumbnail but he is not mentioned verbally at ALL during this video, because he is a completely different scenario, I personally wouldn't even consider him problematic (for the most part) If I ever get to my list of things to do, he'll be an entirely different video. Ontop of this, media literacy is so dead nowadays, even after I stated multiple in this video that I am not comparing any of the people here I still get comments about it, so I will be re-iterating: No, I am obviously not saying that being a n3o-n@z1 is the equivalent to being edgy or groomed, this is such an insane accusation too. OBVIOUSLY I am not a n3o-n@z1 apologist either. This video is soley meant to display the fact that a person (often a child) can literally be crying out for help on the internet and go ignored because they're labled as 'problematic'. And for those of you out there who think I am comparing Jimbo to a n3o-n@z1 please stop. It's disgusting that people really think that's my intent with this post. Jimbo isn't explicitly mentioned in this video because I new people would purposefully twist my words. (No but srsly guys pls stop sending me dm's abt this 😭 I have a wack headache so I'm gonna go do my Ap psych essay)
Even if she was groomed you can still recognize that she did bad things, the fatphobia and 4chan shit was bad, and I’m pretty sure 16 is old enough to realize how bad those things are, both things can be true at the same time, Lottie was groomed and she deserves help but her bad actions deserve to be called out
While problematic people can make good art, that doesn't mean all good art is made by problematic people, or that all problematic artists make good art. It should be obvious, but media literacy has been at an all time low, it seems.
i havent watched the video yetbut i see both charlie and jimbo in the thumbnail i hope that everyone knows that both of these people are quite literally victims and both 14-15, aka children, who were most likely groomed or manipulated into problematic behavior (it was confirmed that jimbo was groomed into alot of stuff), both have apologized and from what ik, they’re both actively trying to change. charlie is sweet and geniunely trying to change, alot of people just dogpile on him due to like 3 things hes done wrong and falsely accuse him of so many things.
Dw vro youll be happy when new video drops tommorrow ٫ Im in contact w some people and Im gna talk abt Charlie cz his whole situation is pmo w the amount of ppl after him 😞
@@JuniDrawz ah great! yeah i hope more people see that he’s completely owning up to everything instead of demonizing him, from what i’ve seen he’s a good guy
tysm for saying this!! charlie and i used to be semi-close and he’s genuinely such a sweet guy, same with his partner jack. charlie really cleaned himself up and i couldn’t be more proud of him :)
The art community is a wild west when it comes to the person behind the pen/cil, brush, etc. that's kinda what makes art is awesome to me, anyone can really pick any type of tool that can leave a mark and draw what they want. Of course they can be horrible people that we wouldn't want to be around, all the way to people so sweet. Also, a Lobotomized Scout is a good Scout.
Hey! Youre the first person i see who agrees with me that all art is vent art. 'Vent' does not need to mean sadness or anger. Sometimes you need to draw a goofy fellow
As a someone that does concept art and experimental stuff aside the main lot, I agree. Even art pieces with messages in-between are vent art, as the artist is expressing a personal reflection on a subject, and venting is a response by default. OCs and design art too, as the artist is trying to fulfill an urge to create an aesthetic over an idea they just had, be it psychological, practical, theorical -whatever it be, it's a response to an emotional need (wait...that's kind of concept and experimental again...did i just reiterate?...I just reiterated didn't I 😭). Plus, sometimes it's not just the subject but the creative process too that helps. Heck, even working on a piece that doesn't resonate your mood in the moment (ie. a joyful/funny when u feeling down) helps you relieve stress, anxiety and lotsa other stuff. Keeping your hands busy with your brain really helps when your thoughts are all over the place or you just feel bothered or confused or whatever; no wonder most psychologists deem it an approved way of therapy for some (as long as, y'know, you don't indulge more in the problem) Trust the concept and the process, baby! WOO-
As an SA victim, I forgive Charlie, if I am aware, those drawings were private but were leaked into the public. You may say things like "Oh you can't talk over other victims" I'm not, I have an opinion on this subject bc I am a victim. These are victims and never got the help they needed. It's better to help them mentally and even physically, to understand what they went through and how to help them.
@@benji485 he got exposed for people in his server being shitty, his friends being shitty, and some other stuff (a lot of it was either extremely personal like him having a piss kink, which is a weird thing to share publicly about a minor. Or a personal joke he made between his consenting friends that was MEANT to be private, or it was just not his fault like his friend possibly grooming him??) I could be wrong I’d recommend watching some videos on the situation.
@@lunamig1006jimbo is still not in a very good situation I believe, knowing jimbo is the same age as me and goes through alot of abuse. I don’t think he should be labeled as problematic (in my opinion of course)
Idk why, but I think I’m starting to consume too much art drama content since this whole “good artist is actually a bad person” thing is starting to become an unnecessary fear to me, as I am an artist myself. I fear one day I will become a bad person but still have good art even though most things I beat myself up over are so minimal it’s sad I’m even anxious about it. I think I might need to take a break from consuming art drama content because it’s really messing with my anxiety and is really affecting me a bit too much by hyper-focusing on the negatives of the art community. Idk why, but this phenomenon and the fear of it applying to me one day got in my head and it’s problem I’m not sure only I suffer from.
the problem in this community , everyone tries so hard to act like an angel when an artist gets exposed as a "bad person" 99% of the time it will be revealed that they probably were manipulated or groomed into doing that bad action , OR they probably just drew something problematic or gorey as a coping mechanism
I am friends with multiple problematic artists. I really do care about them and their art styles are amazing, and some of my best moments came from helping me. Some are “recovered” while others aren’t. They can either be the best or worst people you will ever actually meet, but please be careful. Not all are retrievable.
i consider myself to be a ''recovered'' problematic artist. i was never big on youtube, but the signs and potential for me to have become a problematic artist were definitely there since i was an at the time pre-teen with undiagnosed and untreated mental illness, unresolved trauma, unrestricted internet access and my own youtube channel, which typically does not end well. i consider myself to be fairly lucky to have been in the situation i was where i was able to get help fairly early on without my life and turmoil being picked apart by the wider internet. i have a friend who i met years ago during that weird period of my life who im still friends with to this day. i appreciate them a lot for being there for me even during my lowest moments and i'm happy that i'm doing well enough now to be able to try and help them and have more casual conversations about whatever we're interested in. my experience i believe has also motivated me to try to be more understanding of other people who are also struggling especially if its in a similar way that i was at one point, since i wanna be able to provide some sort of support to anyone that i can and help them get 'back on track' somehow or just try to make them feel a little bit better by letting it be known that they're not alone.
Am I just desensitized or is this kinda stuff like.. pretty on par with artists. i mean a lot of us are mentally ill, drawing is a coping mechanism and mentally ill people will do mentally ill stuff. not in any way excusing any of it, it’s still horrible, but there have been problematic artists for centuries and there will continue to be problematic artists for milennias. maybe I’m cynical but i feel like there’s no use to get mad or try and witch-hunt these people, especially the ones that don’t involve anything super major (i.e they were just being a dick to someone or smthing) because ppl do that shit all the time you would be so fucking negative all the time if you did that i’m rambling i just had an edible but you get my point
I agree with you 100%. The online art community tends to forget that artists have always done this. The attempts some people make in this community to try and stop people from making that kind of art is so redundant. These people are gonna have a stroke when they find pixiv art circles 😭
hi so maybe dont group jimbo and charlie with alfreds playhouse thats like comparing spongebob and patrick to hitler satan since they;re both victims hope this helps 😊😊😊
HELP… but ya that’s like the perfect analogy though. Emily is a genuinely horrible person while jimbo and Charlie were just two ppl who were wrapped up in sht
tbh emily youcis is also a victim, as you can infer from her dad being on the sex offender registry and alfred's playhouse being explicity vent art until the movie. However, i do agree that she is past the point of return. They also weren't trying to compare them all against each other, just explaining a pattern
@@brokenpayphone bffr she's way worse than jimbo and charlie. i know she's also a victim but she doesn't care about what she's done and she still does it
I thought you'd speak about Jimbojimmy123 along this too, but this video is good to explain all of this to us and yes it can also be a cry for help by the artists on what they make.
@@JuniDrawz dowg what this entire video is dumb because your art does not reflect you as a person and you saying that makes you look like a pretty close minded person another thing that yes he has done bad stuff. He’s also a kid he’s not a terrible person and you saying that again makes you look really close minded i’m not trying to hate on you.
Small remark(maybe?) here, least in a personal standpoint (because it'd be bugging me if i don't say it): There's a difference between niche art and problematic art, that being the thought process behind the topics/elements/whatever the artists add to their work alongside the intend of why they're there in the first place. Using 2000's and maybe also 2010's/flash era Newgrounds as an example (mostly bc y'know if u watched juni's vid), most of the stuff that was made in there was, from what i know, in response to a lot of social conflicts that, back then, were more unfiltered and unspoken than nowadays, mostly because of Pico's School, which was Fulp's way to express frustations in the form of dark humor (and that might also extend to the technical aspect too as it was a kinda crappy version of flash he was programming in at the time), alongside other stuff from other people. Also, the site was made mostly as a place for people, mostly game devs, with projects that dealt with pretty niche stuff and were pretty "lowcost" if you will. Of course not everyone was an edgy mofo concept-wise, but that was the point -"Everything, by everyone" was the motto of the site after all. However, the thing with Alfred's playhouse was that the show was...a lot. And while it was comical at times (from what i know, i'm just speaking from documental aspects), it felt a bit too personal, even in the midst of how chaotic it got (justifiably so as per alfred/pickles' personality as a traumatized character). Listen, I understand taboo subjects, controversial figurations and disturbing imagery/themes being implied in people's artwork can drive people the wrong way out of context (and also in context if so); it's not for everyone, and that's fine. But Alfred's Playhouse was kind of derailed from a insight of someone's life with trauma to a political clusterfuck that we kind of saw coming but didn't really want it to. So it can go both ways -you can make your own comfort zone, but that same place can become an echo chamber that'd lead you into self-destruction if you overindulge into it. Reality builds our fiction if we let it, and fiction can destroy our reality if we also let it; being self-aware in a moderate degree is mostly your best bridge on these kind of situations. TL;DR Edgy =/= problematic if done correctly (the art of grotesque) Satire =/= too problematic as most times, it's not taken seriously (also if done correctly) Dark subjection/symbolism/depiction =/= problematic if the concept/message is done correctly and fulfills it's arguments mostly in an objective matter Endorsement/romantization/Fetishization/Glorification of problematic behaviors/depictions under active consciousness and no critical thought beforehand = problematic as it crosses the line of semantics and it could reflect on the artist's perception of the world (which is harmful); it can also be bad propaganda for others who might not be instructed on the subject at hand (content warnings exist for a reason guys) Self reflection and empathy is good, and so is critical thinking. Be careful with what you do with yourself and your work, take care of yourself, learn how to read between the lines when you need to as well as to comprehend and reflect on one's mistakes and actions when they're out of like, and just like we shouldn't judge by one aspect with no context, we shouldn't shrug off problems that go deeper than just edgy art and concepts -man that was a lot of yappin' 😮💨-
When I watched this video one of the artist that came to mind was animated James who was a problematic artist seeking validation.I really felt like he is a good example of what Juni is talking about because he has quit UA-cam and has gotten help and updates about his recovery. Honestly I hope he is doing well and am glad he didn’t go down the path of some of these artists. :”3
this is gonna be a very ranty comment but yeah i feel like there's an alternate timeline where i could have become one of these problematic artists had i not have been in therapy when i really needed it (primarily back in 2022). i'm someone who has dealt with trauma and mental illness at varying severity throughout basically my entire life and before i had proper access to therapy and when i was still new to therapy i had a habit of posting cries for help online along with other bad behaviors that were as a result of undiagnosed mental illness and/or learned behavior. keep in mind, i was like 11-14 at the time all this happened (im 16 now). i don't see myself as a very bad or problematic person now-a-days since after getting my diagnoses and therapy i'm a much healthier and mentally stable person, but sometimes i do feel regret over my old behavior or worry over what i could have become had i not had that help accessible to me when i needed it. i'm able to have sympathy for my younger self now, especially cause i was (and still am) a literal child, but there's still a lot that i wish i would have done differently or just not done at all. thankfully i've never really had a large internet presence then or now, because i feel like that's another thing that would have pushed me over the edge back then. sometimes, i do still like to make vent art expressing those past feelings of when i was at my very lowest as a method of self reflection now that im able to look back at those times more clearly and detach myself from them a bit more so that i don't trigger myself all over again. but i try to make it very clear that those vent pieces are both purely artistic expression and not to worry for me as well as giving another disclaimer about elements of the vent art that may be triggering
May I ask that you do one about a gacha tiktoker? There used to be a gacha tiktoker named “Baby Pink” or “MiMi” who was dating someone in his forties when she was a minor. I would have wanted to say that I reported it but I don’t as only 13 when I saw it and didn’t know how to get police involved with it.

Edit: as of writing this Juni has apologized in the pinned comment and in the reply, (and the deleted comments stuff was a youtube error) we cool! yo juni it might just be me but why are you deleting comments about canihavespromo being groomed? I saw two comments about it earlier but upon refresh they are both gone. I get if you dont want people supporting them or anything, its clear that theyre not a great person but like if you just refuse to bring up the fact the reason theyre so fucked is because they were a 14yo groomed into drawing that nasty fetishy stuff and thinking that doing do was ok, and just keep ignoring that fact and only claiming them as "a disgusting creep", idk man doesn't that just paint you as a victim blamer?? Im not defending her or anything ofc, just because she was groomed into doing that fucked up shit doesnt mean that anyone who was hurt by it didnt experience such harm but still if you pin it all on her and refuse to acknowledge that she was groomed,, idk that just leaves a bad taste in my mouth, even if you never really did get rid of those comments.
If Juni is really doing that then it’s super hypocritical considering she talked about the fact that others were groomed like Emily. It’s weird that she would avoid talking about the grooming of this person specifically.
I havent been deleting them 😭 Im just as confused as you I tried replying to one apologizing for not knowing but the comment was deleted? it seems really hypocritical to say that art deserves censorship ("needs to stay private") while also mentioning that problematic artists tend to be drawing and posting things as a cry for help. the idea that unrighteous things need to be censored always turns into minorities being censored to keep things "pure"...you might be going down a really bad pipeline with these ideologies. people who censor minorities ALSO think they're in the right. art deserves a place to exist - no buts, ifs, or unless' attached - and "problematic" art has long been a protest against such cruel, bigoted censorship with intention to be disturbing.
I think this is a really one sided view on what should and shouldn't be posted publically, while yes art shouldn't be censored, when you put it in the public to be percieved that's when you have to be aware of the fact people will ACTUALLY be seeing and forming opinions on what you made. Saying art should've been kept private isn't censorship, as there's nothing physically stopping the person from posting the art anyway, it's an opinion on what they posted. I feel like this take that saying you think certain topics shouldn't be posted about in an insensitive/humorous light being basically equated to "ur a strict anti creative, you're going down a really bad puritan pipeline!!" thing kiiind of gives general bigotry depicted in art a free pass whether you realise that or not. you're bashing any negative opinions or disgust about art pieces with this moral obligation to be okay with anything created as art, which i think is more censorship than anything. the critism to be made of this video is whether these creators should all be grouped up under this "problematic" title, because im pretty sure charlie didn't even post that art himself and it was to vent/cope, while in the same video as a n/zi + self identified p/do
Plus, encarcerated miseries from the mind are perfectly able to grow into something worse in the future. If one doesn't wish to see a teenager vent about Csa experiences, then they shouldn't bother to be afflicted if said person becomes a predator later on life. Problems won't dissapear if remained untouched.
@styckzii Whilst your train of thought is one that i can agree with in a lot of instances, i refrain from believing the statement of humour being incapable to become a form of creation and expressiveness of one's own struggles. Portraying situation in a manner that fits into a comical, yet possible, unserious intent differs quite a lot from invalidating it, specially if the action or occasion mentioned is fictional and made by one that has experienced, in some form, the same suffering that has been inserted.
@@squingle.mcdingle thank you for the respectful reply, i think this really depends on the form of humor. while yeah joking about serious subjects in alot of instances can be a way of coping/isnt always harmful, i was mostly referring to when people are using humor about sensitive subjects to punch down purely out of the want to shock or to be disturbing, and in those kinds of situations the defense of "well the art was made to be that way" doesn't exactly mean no one is allowed to be offended or annoyed at art made to offend. thats when i think it purposefully crossing the line into being meanspirited and honestly unhealthy. like take lottie for example, i don't think her joking about being p3dobear is okay as that's with intent just be shocking and edgy + a reflection of her messed up values due to the stuff that happened to her, as she's been desensitized to that sort of thing. she was in an echo chamber where those jokes were okay to say unironically. that sort of humor making light or downplaying serious issues without it being a satire or whatever is what i don't think should be encouraged or ignored even if it's art, as clearly in alot of cases it can be the artist's ideologies shining through and people r allowed to be like "woah, wtf"
@@styckziiTHIS HOLY SHIT^^^^^^ but yeah something is SUPER fucking off about the original comment it seems really creepy and disingenuous. it's essentially just saying "youre all evil puritans trying to censor people you hypocritical bigots!! people should be allowed to post whatever they want with no criticism because if someone does something bad, then clearly theyre mentally ill so if you think what theyre doing is weird then youre censoring minorities!!!!"

It goes both ways, fiction can also affect reality, elsagate is a really good example of this. People, specifically children, were affected by the seemingly harmless videos but because these videos were portrayed in a way that made it seem like these things were acceptable, they grow to believe they are! It depends on the gullibility of someone really, children being a big factor.
Fiction does effect reality, look at everyone whos been traumatized because they grew up on the Internet and saw things they shouldn't have at a young age. I know when I was a kid the videos and fictional things I saw effected who I was and what I thought

bruh ignorance in the art community is so rampant. it sucks,, a lot.
Hell yes. I just draw silly goofy characters :3
that hold a chain saw 😍😘
Keeping your hands busy with your brain really helps when your thoughts are all over the place or you just feel bothered or confused or whatever; no wonder most psychologists deem it an approved way of therapy for some (as long as, y'know, you don't indulge more in the problem)
Trust the concept and the process, baby! WOO-

Idk why, but this phenomenon and the fear of it applying to me one day got in my head and it’s problem I’m not sure only I suffer from.
the problem in this community , everyone tries so hard to act like an angel
when an artist gets exposed as a "bad person" 99% of the time it will be revealed that they probably were manipulated or groomed into doing that bad action , OR they probably just drew something problematic or gorey as a coping mechanism
I think artists need either to go to therapy or get mental help because my god it is insane how many times I’ve seen this before
yeah that might as well be the only solution to this, but if they don’t even want to do so, then idk what else can help them other than that.

I am friends with multiple problematic artists. I really do care about them and their art styles are amazing, and some of my best moments came from helping me. Some are “recovered” while others aren’t. They can either be the best or worst people you will ever actually meet, but please be careful. Not all are retrievable.
I know a few too٫they aren't bad people but some I had to cut ties with 🙁
i consider myself to be a ''recovered'' problematic artist. i was never big on youtube, but the signs and potential for me to have become a problematic artist were definitely there since i was an at the time pre-teen with undiagnosed and untreated mental illness, unresolved trauma, unrestricted internet access and my own youtube channel, which typically does not end well. i consider myself to be fairly lucky to have been in the situation i was where i was able to get help fairly early on without my life and turmoil being picked apart by the wider internet.
i have a friend who i met years ago during that weird period of my life who im still friends with to this day. i appreciate them a lot for being there for me even during my lowest moments and i'm happy that i'm doing well enough now to be able to try and help them and have more casual conversations about whatever we're interested in.
my experience i believe has also motivated me to try to be more understanding of other people who are also struggling especially if its in a similar way that i was at one point, since i wanna be able to provide some sort of support to anyone that i can and help them get 'back on track' somehow or just try to make them feel a little bit better by letting it be known that they're not alone.
Jimbo isnt problematic☹️
most of the jimbo stuff was debunked btw
Early and I think the same thing bc why are flash artists so problematic
For new ones? They’re copying the old flash animators.
The old flash animators? They were “problematic “ because that was the humor at the time.
most of them (the most recent ones) aren't actually "problematic". just victims choosing bad coping mechanisms.

TL;DR
Edgy =/= problematic if done correctly (the art of grotesque)
Satire =/= too problematic as most times, it's not taken seriously (also if done correctly)
Dark subjection/symbolism/depiction =/= problematic if the concept/message is done correctly and fulfills it's arguments mostly in an objective matter
Endorsement/romantization/Fetishization/Glorification of problematic behaviors/depictions under active consciousness and no critical thought beforehand = problematic as it crosses the line of semantics and it could reflect on the artist's perception of the world (which is harmful); it can also be bad propaganda for others who might not be instructed on the subject at hand (content warnings exist for a reason guys)
Self reflection and empathy is good, and so is critical thinking. Be careful with what you do with yourself and your work, take care of yourself, learn how to read between the lines when you need to as well as to comprehend and reflect on one's mistakes and actions when they're out of like, and just like we shouldn't judge by one aspect with no context, we shouldn't shrug off problems that go deeper than just edgy art and concepts
-man that was a lot of yappin' 😮💨-
To be honest, I don't hate emily. But I am sad at what she has become.
Its not the artist, its the art. Which may be influenced by their mental state, still its the art that gets people.
this is gonna be a very ranty comment but yeah
i feel like there's an alternate timeline where i could have become one of these problematic artists had i not have been in therapy when i really needed it (primarily back in 2022). i'm someone who has dealt with trauma and mental illness at varying severity throughout basically my entire life and before i had proper access to therapy and when i was still new to therapy i had a habit of posting cries for help online along with other bad behaviors that were as a result of undiagnosed mental illness and/or learned behavior. keep in mind, i was like 11-14 at the time all this happened (im 16 now). i don't see myself as a very bad or problematic person now-a-days since after getting my diagnoses and therapy i'm a much healthier and mentally stable person, but sometimes i do feel regret over my old behavior or worry over what i could have become had i not had that help accessible to me when i needed it. i'm able to have sympathy for my younger self now, especially cause i was (and still am) a literal child, but there's still a lot that i wish i would have done differently or just not done at all. thankfully i've never really had a large internet presence then or now, because i feel like that's another thing that would have pushed me over the edge back then.
sometimes, i do still like to make vent art expressing those past feelings of when i was at my very lowest as a method of self reflection now that im able to look back at those times more clearly and detach myself from them a bit more so that i don't trigger myself all over again. but i try to make it very clear that those vent pieces are both purely artistic expression and not to worry for me as well as giving another disclaimer about elements of the vent art that may be triggering

Jimbo isn’t problematic, I think it was someone else (I forgot what happened plz be patient with me💔💔)
it seems really hypocritical to say that art deserves censorship ("needs to stay private") while also mentioning that problematic artists tend to be drawing and posting things as a cry for help. the idea that unrighteous things need to be censored always turns into minorities being censored to keep things "pure"...you might be going down a really bad pipeline with these ideologies. people who censor minorities ALSO think they're in the right. art deserves a place to exist - no buts, ifs, or unless' attached - and "problematic" art has long been a protest against such cruel, bigoted censorship with intention to be disturbing.

FICTION DON,T AFFECT REALITY! REALITY AFFECTS OUR FICTION
this😭
Both ways actually
Fiction CAN affect reality. Children for example, they get affected by fiction easily.
Cold take
It goes both ways, fiction can also affect reality, elsagate is a really good example of this.
