Damn deftones and korn live the same venue and night before both of them became successful. It's rare to see 2 bands on the same bill before both become famous. Just trips me out how lucky this crowd is.
@@brucehammadalee3835 amazing. I saw Incubus and SOAD in 98 at the BIrch Hill in Old Bridge NJ. Incubus was touring SCIENCE and System was touring their self titled debut
Yes I'm Takeoff Can't Stop Me Now let me clarify, he still is good looking but not nearly as hot as he was. Older and heavier! But with his voice he will always be hot!!
Chino looks like a Latino version of H.R. here. Even some of his movements. I think some of his vocal dynamics are also copped from H R. Bad Brains were definitely an influence on the band. It's really cool to see their early shows and hear how they sounded and what they evolved into. Love the Deftones. R.I.P. Chi 🙏
Bad Brains is probably the single biggest influence on deftones, especially Chino’s vocal and performance style. Half of the songs from Quickness by Bad Brains sound like deftones songs with a different singer. Kind of annoys me how no one mentions Bad Brains as an influence on nu metal.
@@chase.7780 There are interviews of the Tones mentioning the Brains where a major influence. H.R's vocals on the album I against I, right down to the phrasing are in Chinos vocals for sure
I love this! They sound fucking awesome! Like the album! Normally Chino stays away from sounding like the album and would go as far as sounding bad sometimes IN MY OPINION. It's like many of the notes he reaches on many songs he just can't replicate live. It sucks. He tries pulling the mic away or replacing it with silence or some weird noise.
I think it's bc he fucked up his voice and they told him he can't do all the vocal stuff live anymore :( sucks but imagine if he couldn't sing at all anymore
Reminds me of the set they played a Scala in King's x London where they played the entire adrenaline album in order. I nearly died of exhaustion. I nearly died of joy
Fuck what I'd give to be there and be able to scream and be heard and then maybe talk to them after the show. Fuck. I'd buy all their merch and music in every form, get it signed by the whole band and even pay them then keep it safe to put up a Deftones museum years later. Fuck selling it. Being to out up a mini museum and record it all is what I wish someone did like that guy with Korn. He has the original sheets of paper with the lyrics Jon wrote when writing for their debut. Priceless! Original posters from 1993 and shit! Fuck! So awesome but Deftones never cared to keep those things. Some of the Korn members do have that old stuff.
I won a chance to go backstage in llondon and got my guitar signed. It's on the wall now and I'll never sell it for anything. It was a priceless moment in my life
+Alejo Veloza Exacto! quizás mucha gente se quedo con lo "ultimo de su epoca" white pony o deftones, y por ciertas circunstancias de la vida, ya no lo escuchan. Deftones queda para rato! saludos man!
It’s crazy to think how life and evolution works, bands like deftones and korn were going crazy doing small shows getting ready to break through the scene all in the same year and couple months after the death of Kurt cobain/grunge. Crazy
Yes. And so many other bands graced that stage that are San Jose Royalty like: insolence, smash mouth, papa roach (even though they was from Vacaville) and many others. I was so sad when they closed the cactus club.
Deftones unjustly wear the new metal tag, they are a genre of their own. I was lucky enough to find them on a 1996 20inch bmx video mag tape with the credits cut off the end so I had no idea who they were but they were my favourite band from then on until one day I heard my own summer and I knew that's who they were. Backflips all the way.
wouldnt say its unjust. nu metal was just a blanket term used to describe the alternative metal coming out around this time, not really its own genre. its why you had bands like korn, slipknot, and limp bizkit, who all sounded different from each other, but were all considered nu metal.
So weird seeing them play these songs before they were even finished. Chino doesn’t even know the lyrics to Bored because there weren’t any lyrics to know (apparently it was originally called Oraled, too)
