Testing inserts on a remedial tire on a remedial rig. Then can see better if improved or worse.

I've had a set of blues waiting for the right rig, but based on this it looks like that'll be my Vanquish. Also have some greens coming and some Swamp Claws, thinking they might work with a Zoku basecamp--I don't really have anything light, but that's the current lightest. Also finally got some fridge foam so I can help inserts stay in, but also make Canyon Softs--I'm interested to test them next to each other. I'm also considering getting a set of reds--we mostly trail and a heavy truck cuts through brush and leaves way better than a light one, so I have a bunch of heavy trucks. A cut red might be the right foam for a brassed-out Defender. I'd like to see that tested if you have someone heavy enough to make it worthwhile.
I'm curious to see how long these last--them breaking in seems awesome, but I'd be worried they'll get too soft after too much use--5 minutes is a small break-in, so I worry what weeks of use will do to them. Though given the price it probably doesn't matter too much, they'll be very replaceable--the price is in the same general area of Canyon Mediums, which I run on almost every rig now.

I put the blue ones in my hyrax tires mounted on some Treal wheels and they fit perfectly they fill the tire nicely
I wanted to try some in some Hyrax, glad to hear they work.
The filler ring isn't as necessary with wheels like Treal, as they have the thinner 21mm inner ring. Same with Vanquish. Results will vary from tire to tire, obviously.

Just ordered some Blue for my rig, although I do more trailing/crawling than crawling/trailing.
I think they're perfect for trailing because you never need worry about water in the tires again.
My dad and I have ordered a set of green and a set of blue so we are gonna run blue in the rear and green in the front see how that works out 🤘🏼
I was wondering if the blue or green inserts would be better for my redcat ascent and also how they would fit in the stock tires. I will get some injora beadlocks. Always enjoy your videos!

Great work on this one, as usual, and I am guilty as charged, long-time lurker, no subscribey. Yep, that's me. I fixed it, now. I am in the process of converting my Class 1 and my wife's to hard bodies, and since we'll be trailing mostly, we'll hit tons of mud and dirt... for which I would not be super acquainted with using normal foams (the smell of wet tire foam in the morning reminds you about it ;)). Thanks for leaving almost no detail to chance!
Just saw that Injora on thier website now has a set of yellow super softs, maybe give those a whirl next, love the content, especially with Baseline

I have set of greens on the way to go with some swamp claws, hoping the combo will work. I have trucks of many weights so they will find a home. Running cut blues in some cut and siped Canyon Trails and they work great on a mostly stock TRX sport. I was hoping for this review!
Im also waiting on the swamp claws and these inserts. From what ive seen i think well have a killer combo and itll look great👌
How do they fit in the CTs? Wouldn't that flop around in there a lot? Cheers
@@HRDNTS They wiggle some but they work, so far has not bothered me, will probably add some foam donuts just for comparison.

by the way - the new shelf/rack thing in the front - is very nice
I have a Redcat Fusion with brass wheel inserts and aluminum wheels that i wanted a set of the blue injora inserts for but after feeling the blues in a heavier rig i went with the greens. Ill hopefully have them installed soon and be able to see how they perform. Im hoping since its a lighter rig they will work perfect.
All that rain is going to be a huge snow storm here in Kansas tomorrow morning.

There is already a version of this out that is 42mm wide, it would be nice to see a test of them, and how they compare to the injora ones with the extra ring donut.
The only place to buy Fimonda is from AE, so I'm not in a hurry to wait just yet. Interesting that they basically tell you to cut them for tuning.

I think this is my first visit to your channel and i like it so far , i watched this because i just bought a set of the green inserts, and im stoked to see how they perform.. my only remaining question from watching this is: are the blues or greens softer? i must have missed it due to being half asleep and under caffeinated .. lol Thanks!
The greens definitely start off softer-- but the uncut set of blues I have here are starting to get REAL soft, so I'm starting to think that the break-in on these is longer than initially thought. Like... will they stop getting softer?

She's an organizing expert who wants to de-clutter your life? 🤣
She is the patron saint of the Canyon. Fun fact, she's just 1.4m tall. Which is wild, as I'm 1.88m tall.

I don't know man I'm curious to see what the reds would be like. I dont think theyd be better but how much worse would they be?? These silicone style inserts seem so tuneable and like you outlined in previous vids its so easy to describe how to tune by cutting out certain parts. Not sure if id rather tune a harder insert by cutting or a softer insert by adding foam inside the cells to stiffen them up. Gotta wonder how much more potential is in these inserts. Great work as always canyon man. I'll send you a set of the reds if your crazy enough to test them. 👍👌🤙🥳
I think you could probably tune the reds down into the 10-11lb range by cutting them up. So there's still a use for them... maybe. I can't imagine running them unmodified. Though these is a channel I've seen a bit of where I guy welds up his own box frame chassis, and his rigs all seem to be 10lbs+ (and I think I saw one that was 18lbs), so maybe that guy is killin' it on reds.
Now that you have managed to bend Injora's ear, perhaps you might suggest they produce a silicone insert to fit that ever-so-popular Pro-line XL carcass 😃
Think theres any way to fit these to a smaller 3.9" OD tire? Cut off the outer ring maybe?
I just got all 3 versions of the Injora silicone inserts. I’m going to test each set on various tires on different weighted rigs. I haven’t put them on a truck yet, but I do have them in some different tires, different compounds and what not. What I’ve seen with each insert and on each different tire they’re in, just by squeezing them or simulating them collapsing on the footprint or ground contact point, I noticed the rest of the tire ballooned out. Not horrible on the harder compounds, but noticeable. The super soft tire compound tire, it was really noticeable. Would venting the tires prevent this and if so, where should I vent the tires?
All tires should be vented. Leather punch, 4mm holes at the 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock positions. For 2.2s I do four holes at 12, 3, 6, and 9.

greens ! nice. run slick again on baseline on the greens after the little run time on them. lighter weight rig might take longer seat in time, curious how long it takes for them to be at the blue feel, and long term will be better. best performance from the landmines for sure, what is the rig weight with the greens? think it was like 6.3lbs before w body. also what does a green insert alone weigh ? too early to tell but, CUT greens 2.5kg or less, single or triple cut. great first test of greens
Exactly the same as the blues, 70g. You remember correctly, Kronk is (was) 6.3lbs with the body.
@@CrawlerCanyonI just installed the green liners in the krakken klaws on a 6.5lb truck. They feel about right on the bench, but weather is no good here so it's watching vids for now.
I wonder if the design of the inserts are what's holding them back, would you consider cutting the greens the same as you did for the blues and see what that's like
I think they just need wheeltime. I wouldn't start cutting just yet.
What would you recommend for inserts for canyon trails on trx4 sport under or just around 10 lbs?

You trimmed some webbing on the blues, correct? Is that making the difference? Definitely want to try these!

The set of blues I used for comparison are uncut. I have two other sets, which are both cut.

If we're talking about weight, is it total weight of the car, or car without (heavy) wheels?
When you're dealing with inserts, weight is the total weight, including the inserts (particularly when they weigh 70g each.) But when setting up suspension, we're looking mostly at sprung weight, only the weight being supported by the springs.
What would you recommend for a slightly weighted trx4 the blue or green
If you haven't made efforts to remove weight, the blue for sure. The greens are sub-6lbs, and at their best closer to 5lbs.

The drift stitches? That corner of the grille cracked within the first month or two. Which is still surprising to me, as the rest of the body is an absolute tank.

Are they in 4.75 tires??
I don't know if you could run these in anything other than 4.75s. I think they'd be absolutely crammed in a 4.65, to their detriment.
What about (your style) cutting the outer layer of the greens...
These are squishy on the outer ring, cutting them be too much. That said, I'm sure we'll find out at some point.
Probably depends on the tire pattern, but the way it looked, I thought the outer was too firm on the Swamp Claws.
I was very interested in these till I found out how heavy they are 70g is 2.5oz I usually run 1.4oz per corner or lighter.
These are not for the plastic wheel people.

Our choices for 2.2 inserts is absolutely woeful. Every 2.2 I have has open cell foam in it.

Fimonda has already knocked off Injora and are offering their own in 42mm. Sadly, Fimonda distributes through AliExpress, so the wait times are real. I'll pick up a set of their softest offering at some point.
