Crawler Canyon Quick(re)view: Clone HD44 Axles (MEUS)

- This is the quickview of what at least I see as the clone of the Vanquish Currie HD44 axles. The bonus here being that that cost roughly half the Vanquish. But is it still worth it?

That diff cover angle reminds me of Gmade.
You got me looking real hard at Meus axles. I'm pretty impressed and might have to get a set.
Very informative. Way to go Meus. Keep up the good work.
Building a Phoenix kit into a SEMA Bruiser Replica, picked up a set of the Vanquish clear Currie HD44's. Version 1.0 with the kit won't be exact with pan hard and not hydraulic steering, and no provision for the Skid Tread, so a loose approximation look alike. Version 2.0, I want to get a cheap welder and build the actual cage, and try to replicate the winch driven Skid Tread, and have a hard body FJ.
just only rename or let say seller name as MEUS but it was a copy of D1RC PASS AXLE.. and same exactly as ROCKjack. the same axle i used i purchased that way back 2years ago.. it work great.. really great👊🍻🤘
AT least the price didn't go up. I've seen the D1RC from sellers on AE, where it's ~$300 for the pair. MIght as well buy the real thing at that point.
When you mention the anodizing increasing the diameter of the hex and sticking inside the hubs, I'm thinking the SLW hubs being Imperial sized vs the metric sized hubs is the difference. The SLW hubs measure 11.98-ish because they are but metric hexes measure 12.00 and sometimes 12.01 so you end up with an interference fit. The non-SLW hubs usually measure around 12.05 to 12.07.
I'm not sure I have any SLWs. Every hub I've got take metric hardware-- because I buy cheap Amazon hubs.
Have you tried the Loctite chapsticks?
Not sure its available in purple.
I've only seen the sticks in blue and red, sadly.
Trying to install fusion se in my SE and I have never done anything like that before and the direction of confusion me LOL
I broke another Element axle again today. I'm officially over Element axles, will be switching to AR44s.
The pinion is tiny that it either has to be shimmed absolutely perfectly, or you gotta spend an extra $50 on every front axle for machined gears. They should have just gone high-pinion and run a bigger input gear.
@@CrawlerCanyon it's a shame because everything else Element is great.
Those are some beautiful axles, still expensive for me, but nice to see cheaper options than 300 bucks for a set of metal axles
Where do you get your hardware and do you have a link to the size needed for these to replace the zinc?
pull inner axle bearings on the front, more angle :) might try 2 rate lower front spring before weight, riding high high on climbs. look great and look thicker/stronger shafts then stockers.
He needs giant bands on the front. Suck down winch? I feel like softer in the front would ruin both descending and sidehilling.
Are any of the parts interchangeable with Vanquish, Axial, Element, etc? If you chip a ring gear or break a CVD can it be replaced?
Everything is AR44.
Have you ever looked into shaving the universal? Apparently it stops the caming and allows for more angle. I keep seeing people talk about it in facebook groups.
I have not, but Amazon-sourced universals for AR44 are CHEAP, so I might have to. I'm just here for the 50º steering angle.
That's almost drift car steering angle! 🤓
Wow man I saw on the weather it looks like y’all are getting rain and storms
We got 4.5" today, which is a whole lot, seeing as we average about 15" . We're going to get half the rain for 2024 in four days. Then it won't rain again for 5 months. The desert!
Those look really nice. It's good to see that they are a good enough clone that stock parts fit. That's the weakness of a lot of the AliExpress axles - if you break them there are no parts available.
You can de-anodize those hexes with 'easy off' in a ziploc. They won't look pretty afterwards though!
I'm usually happy to get rid of the aluminum hexes anyway. The Vanquish stepped hexes are the only ones that I'm fine with in aluminum. Otherwise, just give me brass.
i think the first thing to do is change that chassis, its a bad design... taking into consideration how modern flat and 6 degree angled skids plates are designed today, that looks so retro.
🤣🤣🤣 "I'll take people that don't know what they're talking about for $100, Alex."
@@CrawlerCanyon I'll take "bad chassis choices" for $250, Alex. 😆😆😆
@@vlozityif there’s anything I like better than a betting man, it’s one who’s willing to double down, when he’s never even looked at the cards. Or in this case, listened to the video or seen any of the videos about the build process. But goodonya nonetheless.
Where’s the link to those axles
I have only ever seen these directly from MEUS. There are very similar-looking axles elsewhere, but always with different servo mounts, or strange bolt-on portal boxes.

I don't know how they do it, but MEUS delivers FAST. I think the longest I've waited is 6 days. From China.
@@CrawlerCanyon thanks for the link lol their logo is so close to Treals logo they both have the black and yellow shield with the first letter of their name in it
Hello all
Good to be back
👍👍
Hey everyone,What tyres are these ?
JConcepts Holds.
Black and red looks a bit tacky🙄 besides that they seem to be ok...better than Elements 4sure. Always good to check all screws on those copies.
Well, don't tell Vanquish. The Currie HD44s are, well... these, but they cost twice as much.
