    About 18 months ago I purchased my first Z6. 4 weeks later I sold my DSLR's and lens collection.
    However, I kept a red D5500 along with a couple of lenses.
    I don't use it a lot, (I feel mirrorless is the way to go) but when I do use it, I feels like I returned home.
    NICE camera and nice post.

    Just tried back button focus on my d5300 based on the tip from this video. Although I knew about bbf from a little while back I never gave it much of a thought up until now.. Back then I was just a beginner and bbf was too confusing and felt unorthodox but now I have been switching AF modes to continuous and single and bbf is a godsend for my type of shooting.

      There's no straight answer for this, the best thing for you to do would be to just go out and shoot but while doing that make sure you use the Liveview instead of the viewfinder...the one advantage of Liveview is that it shows you almost exactly how the photo will look like after you take it. If what you see on the screen is too bright then the photo will most likely come out over-exposed and vice versa...fine tune everything as you watch the changes on the screen

    Thanks for this. In 2013, I purchased two Nikon refurbished D5100 with the intention of replacing them in a few years with new tech, while keeping my good Nikon glass. Now that both the D5500 and D5600 are showing up from time to time on Adorama as Nikon Refurbished, this video is helpful (although I'm no stranger, coming from the D5100). Interestingly, DxOMark rates the D5500 as a bit better at high ISOs. Hmm.

      It's probably not possible because of the limitation of the shutter curtain traveling across in a slit rather than fully opening for the shot. The flash duration is so short it would just capture a view of the slot. The camera shutter curtain just can't physically move fast enough to open and close fully for the high shutter speeds, so it needs to limit it by not fully opening.

The D5600 is very good for this price point but it is still a DSLR (doesn't mean it's bad - some prefer an optical viewfinder) and not mirrorless and doesn't film in 4K.
      If you like Nikon you could go for a Z 50 (but consider that there are only 2 lenses available for this camera to use without adapter!). Otherwise a Sony A6400, A6100 or A6300 (6300 is older but cheaper). Also look at Canon M50 and Fuji X-T30 or the Olympus M10 Mark III (Olympus has smaller Micro 4/3 sensor!).

    Hei.About to buy the d5600 but i have a big concern.I dont know what lense should i buy with it, the 18-55 or 18-140, money shouldnt be a problem between these two.I am gonna use IT mostly to photo my painted clothes, and maybe some landscape, portrait in my free time, but only for fun.What do You recommend me? Thanks.

      First of all, I would recommend buying mirrorless camera - A6100, X-T200 or even A6000.

    just be aware of buying DX lenses. if you ever get really into photography and want to go full frame your DX lenses are no good. FX lenses cost more, but they also retain more value and some are outstanding for not a lot of money (nikon 50/1.8, samyang 14/2.8 for example)

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  6 років тому +3

      Nikon DX system is still a good starting point, because it is cheap. I actually wouldn't recommend to invest to FX system or go from Nikon DX to FX at all in 2018. Especially now that Sony A7 III was announced and Nikon and Canon have also announced that they will concentrate on mirrorless in the future.

    • @rustynugget2288
      @rustynugget2288 6 років тому

      canon and nikon will still use the current full frame glass on their mirrorless systems i bet. sony's are great and i've owned two, but they arent the work horses that canon and nikon offer due to their unreliable auto focus and poor battery life. although they have addressed those issues recently. the only real thing sony offers at the moment is video and a ridiculous 20fps, otherwise the d850 is the heavy hitter at the moment

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  6 років тому +1

      No one knows that. Mirrorless requires completely different lens construction, so FX lenses would have to be used with some built-in adapter to compensate for the flange distance. At the moment nothing beats AF of A9 and the same system will be used A7 III. Sony offers much more, for example smaller form factor, IBIS, better video capabilities, better live-view functionality and so on.
