Those who experienced the same are a good emotional pillar, but it doesn't automatically make them experts in changing the situation.

I see your point, but if you want to learn magic you tend to prefer a wizard to a sorcerer: a wizard can tell you how they learned and give you guidelines, while a sorcerer is born with magic, they never experienced the process of learning it, so they shouldn't necessarily be a good teacher either.
What I mean is, what you say is not wrong: having experienced a situation doesn't mean being able to treat it. What I also mean is, being very good at something (eg. Fjord - charisma) doesn't automatically make you a good theacher of that thing.
Being a good teacher is a completely different skill, in one case or the other.

The thing is half of the party is socially awkward and Jester, who is a social butterfly, is also poorly socialized. The real issue is everybody going to Fjord about social issues would become ridiculous and stress Travis out.

I prefer the idea that Kiri will be Deus Ex Machina. The Mighty Nein are absolutely screwed, fighting some hellish abomination, all the chips are down until this massive axe flies in and decapitates it.
In the direction from the axe was yeeted, climbing over a mountain of corpses is a tiny Kenku. "It's sharp..."

@@rexmastersins9349 Narratively, sure. But D&D isn't all about narrative . Its about having fun and roleplaying and HAVING FUN. Maybe you wouldn't be pleased by it, but knowing the cast of Critical Role they would freak out and find it amazing and hilarious. Your goal as a DM isn't to write a novel, its to have fun and ensure your players are having fun.
Adam Albee Uh what? Having a deus ex machina is more like writing a novel than having it be a regular NPC. If you make a deus ex machina it is you bailing out the players as DM, taking away their ability to fail and writing the story for them.
Oh, I just feel terrible for Laura in this episode! She was having such terrible luck, and at this point, she is right in that part of the pregnancy where you're starting to feel uncomfortable all the time, you're easily overwhelmed, your hormones are pumping in a way that makes you feel like an angsty teenager, the fact that she shows up for almost every episode despite being pregnant is laborious. I feel you, girl!
Granted, I had relatively easy pregnancies, but the worst part about being pregnant was just how out of control of my emotions I was despite simultaneously knowing they were overblown. Her walking away and just growling about being pregnant was SO RELATABLE.
I DMed through my whole pregnancy, can confirm, very emotional, my party was a great support though.
They were all so sweet to her, I’ve never seen them be more loving & supportive on a failed throw ❤. The party could sense her getting more & more upset, but leave it to any husband to push his wife over the edge! 😂😂😂
Yeah I came on here to comment something similar. Like you can see her getting upset and when she stormed off and everyone was like :o I was thinking give her a break she's pregnant! And then she shouted "IM PREGNANT" and I was laughing like wooo yeah girl you tell em. I mean I know I've nearly stormed off during D&D before and that's without pregnancy hormones 😆

The fear of laura that just keeps growing in Travis's eyes through this whole episode is amazing.
i think it was Laura's Between the Sheets episode but one of them mentioned how they never fight, and Brian made a joke that it's because Travis looks into her eyes and backs down immediately.

Everyone is so sweet and funny reacting to Laura with her pregnancy hormones/rage, but I just have to note how incredibly sweet and caretaking Sam is the entire time. He makes jokes that are so supportive of her/trying to build her up and holds her chair out, gently sits next to her and tries to soothe her, often. It’s quite wonderful.
You can tell who's had kids and who hasn't for sure.
He also helped her hide her tummy whenever she got up before she and Travis had officially announced it ❤ Friendship goals.
Like an episode before the reveal "dont throw sharp objects at....." catches himself before he said pregnant woman 😂
Also, he usually makes fun of Laura for her superstition of dice, but when she starts to get really upset he goes "THESE DICE ARE WRONG AND BAD"

As a DM myself who does a weekly session, it is not that surprising. I look at my players stats so much so I can balance encounters and prepare them for some stuff, it just comes naturally. And being an actor who has to memorize a lot of stuff in a short time anyway I guess it's even more natural.
But either way you're right, Travis' reaction was awesome!

I love the roleplaying advice: always ask the least qualified person at the table for advice 😂 as Caleb is asking 7 CHA Yasha for help working well in a group.

The contrast between Beau asking Fjord for advice on how to be a socially functional adult and Caleb asking Yasha is amazing.
The party were the wizard is dirty and the barbarian is super into hygiene and cleanliness.
I think it’s more she is consciously aware that that’s an important value in society, thus holds herself to it, he has no interest in it, but because it is valued by society, deliberately avoids it.

There are so many reasons to like Travis (and the others). But one thing I find particularly wonderful, is whenever Matt corrects him on a rule, he never gets upset, he just says "Lesson learned". He knows Matt isn't there to be a dick, he's just upholding the rules, and he respects it.
I love the moments like that with Liam (and Taliesin too) where they're like your call bc you're the DM

@@user-Aaron- Marisha and Laura are worse for it than Liam and Tal, especially with the slight 'cheating' from Marisha. I feel like Tal and Liam are more disappointed with their idea not being viable more than Matt's decision, whereas Laura and Marisha try and argue against him

Notice how Nott and Molly had had a dream about being someone else. Nott feels uncomfortable in her own skin and Molly started his life as someone else.
Those questions provided a lot of subtle information about the characters. Molly and Jester would both believe something from a dream, but Caleb would dismiss dreams (I'm certain he has plenty of bad ones). Jester wouldn't want to be someone else, so of course she doesn't dream about being someone else.
And Fyord literally had a dream in this episode about being in his ex mentors body

I didn't understand how she ended at 1HP, when she was at 3 previously and took 10 damage reduced to 5. They don't mention why, she just casually goes 'Okay...'
@@cello1993 I think Ashley made a mistake reducing her HPs at some point because (and I may be wrong) the math seemed to check out with the HPs we were seeing on screen and what happened during the fight. So she should technically have had 3 left, as was displayed on screen, but ended up with a little bit more on her side by adding up wrong at some point before.
Yeah I mean it basically looks like she just cheated and ignored that she took 5 damage at 3hp. Bothered me. I mean, generously she got the math wrong or something but I don't think so. Could have misread mis-remembered the battle rager trait but that is at level 11 and requires a roll. Constant never ending non-knowledge of what your rolls even are always seems off to me.
@@Varusdc1 I'm pretty sure that some of the HP totals are wrong for example Caleb actually only had like 27 HP total but it says he has 31, so my assumption is that she has more HP total than what's shown on screen.
Some of the on screen totals were wrong. Toward the beginning of the encounter Yasha took 7 damage but her on screen hp dropped by 11 points. Ashley’s math was correct.
I love how beau wanted to apologise and went to fjord for advice. I love how patient he is with her and how he’s non judgemental and just tries to educate her on how to be a better person. Also his advice was amazing and I loved the part where he told her don’t be afraid to apologise. A very lovely moment 😊

They moved away from G&S at ep.50
Alex Beltran Project Alpha was a Geek & Sundry/Nerdist streaming service for a few years. You could watch CritRole live on Twitch or Alpha. Alpha was an exclusive service, so the overlays were added, and there was an extra half hour of Talks Machina for Alpha subs.

GOt to agree. Re-watching campaign 2 due to the virus. gotta say, Sam used to be my favorite but Travis has taken the top position. Others noted how he's the party "acknowledger" -laughs at other people's joke, acknowledges the cool things people do with their character and being the hype man in the game. A genuine person who plays his character well but doesn't use it as a crutch or an excuse to how the character is portrayed.

If you watch Talks for episode 88 of C1, in After Dark, they mention a few of the things that had been yelled at Matt to that point. Unfortunately, that's probably about all we'll ever get aside from the occasional mistimed curse that ends up being caught on-stream.
At the end of recording one of the one shots, Liam's Quest they say going live in 5 4 3 2 1 and Marisha yells Pussy Pockets. So that should give you an idea of the stuff they shout to try and make the DM break into a laugh right as they go to air.

I want to commend the artist Larn on their choice of motifs for each of the characters, I saw their work at 3:26:18 in the video, @Larn_Draws. The flamboyant roses for Molly, the lilies (symbols of death) for Yasha, the coral for Fjord and his seafaring background, the mysterious mushrooms for Caleb, and most of all, the FORGET-ME-NOTS for Nott. Well done!

During the period where they are looking over the orb and Fjord just touches it with no warning. I just. As a fellow wizard that just wants to sit down and take a few minutes to do things right for most of my games, Caleb tossing the glasses to the side and sighing is such a damn relatable feeling.
One of those moves almost got our party killed bc the orb in our game summoned a plethora of creatures and we only survived thanks to Turn Undead.
So every time there‘s a suspicious orb in a campaign I start screaming inside.
