gah! it's so weird having someone appreciate the work we do. especially a pilot. us aircraft mechanics usually stay the unsung heroes of aviation since everyone seems to forget us.

I remember flying into Buenos Aires, Argentina in the 80s on an American carrier. As soon as the plane’s wheels touched the runway, everyone jumped up and got their bags. The stewardesses tried in vain to get them to sit down. When the pilot got to the gate he slammed on the brakes so all the people standing went to the floor. I know he did it on purpose. It was very funny.

Valentin Jaster you can go around in a glider, especially a fiberglass one.. you close the dive brakes, nose over to redline, skim in ground effect, and you’ll have enough energy to either go to the end, pull up, do a teardrop and land the opposite direction, or even make a downwind and come back the same direction..

"People who stand up as soon as the plane lands" - the best announcement I ever heard was while we were taxying in and the chief steward (or whatever they're called!) said "Due to a staff shortage we need volunteers to help clean out the cabin before the next flight. It will take less than two hours. To volunteer for this please stand up and start retrieving your luggage from the overhead bins before we stop at the gate!"
*Nobody* stood up until we were told we could!

My son had this happen in New Jersey. Mechanical problem, flight delayed while replacement part was flown in on another flight. Woman at the gate/ticket counter was giving out meal vouchers & getting a lot of verbal abuse. When my son got up to her she was apologizing for the delay. He stated quite loudly that he rather get on an airworthy plane, than be involved in a plane crash & he knew it wasn't her fault & couldn't believe how rude people were treating her & told her, "Thank you ma'am." He said everyone quieted down after that & she gave him 2 meal vouchers.

G'day Kelsey, Back in the mid 80s I was in the US and had to take a small Piedmont Airlines aircraft to some little airfield in Virginia. There was one cabin stewardess and one pilot. The flight wasn't very long but soon after take-off we encountered significant CAT that shook us around so badly that half way through the flight the stewardess had to cancel drink and food service. She strapped into her jump seat and endured the turbulence with us as it got worse and worse; by this time, we were flying through a full-blown thunderstorm. It was a long time ago so I forget the aircraft type but it was only a 40 or 50-seater and probably couldn't get on top of the bad weather.
Anyway, we made it to our destination and I must say the pilot did an excellent job with only a 4 or 5 point landing with really high winds and lots of yaw.
I was on business and I had several carry-on bags with me (no real restrictions back then) so I let everyone else get off the aircraft so that I could get all my bags together. I sat back down again and saw I left a smaller bag under the seat next to me so I was bent down, out of view.
While I was down there, I heard the cockpit door open and a male voice (the pilot's) say something like, "Holy sh*t, I never want to do that again! I nearly lost it all, several times...". He was talking to the stewardess at the rear galley and from his point of view his aircraft had no passengers on-board.
Then my head pops up, I stand up collecting my bags and the pilot, bless him, added, "Oh, err, um, but it wasn't really all that bad...", at which point he rapidly retreated back into the cockpit and quickly shut the door. As I left the aircraft the, red-faced, stewardess almost whispered to me, "Ah, I hope you enjoyed your flight...".
I got down the stairs and laughed all the way to the terminal.
I had been through much worse in my AIr Force days. It was a landing we all walked away from so, to me, it was just perfect! Cheers, BH.

Half of the computers were down at the airport meaning everyone had to check in at one part of the airport but check their bags at the other end, this caused massive delays. Planes were coming in faster than they were leaving. Long story short it was over two hours before we even got a gate number and another hour before the plane was ready.

I truly appreciate that you take time to describe why that meme is funny to those of us whose knowledge only comes from plane crash investigation documentaries! My mother worked at TVC as a Line Service Technician for several years; which was the first interest I took into the aviation industry; though my knowledge is limited. Ever fly into TVC? If you're a 747 pilot, I can assume probably not, as our airport is so little. The only time we took in any big aircraft was 9/11.

74 Gear. I love your videos. I just subbed while watching this one.
I love aviation and have studied it for years. Even book studying and instruction from a pilot for possible future flight school. Then I had a stemi heart attack at 44. On my third cardiac arrest I was dead for over 6 minutes. I woke up the next month with the bottom 10% of my heart dead. Knowing I couldn't pass Meds 1,2, or 3 I now sim fly very seriously. I have almost 200 hours flying a 738 from cold and dark, FMC programming, and IFR flight planning etc.
Watching you have fun with flying, and good hearted nature keeps me interested. Thanks for your videos. Keep them coming.

The bag to collect trash feels like it comes before I have even started eating. So then I'm stuck with my garbage for awhile until I work up the nerve to ask a flight attendant to take it. I've been watching your channel and I have to give you kudos for your ability to sound like we are talking to each other at the airport. Pilot to Pilot. You do not talk down to us, you are self-deprecating , and you are clearly full of enthusiasm for flight! Out of the many channels that I've been following, yours is the most personable! Well KCGV is a very different class c with a lot of airline traffic. The approach and landing were interesting but the next day on departure I was in fact the guy (small plane) squeezed between a number of airliners taxiing out 😱😆

As a mechanic, in the Air Force, I agree with this. If there are a lot of broke planes, we work overtime, to get them back in the air. And we didn't get overtime pay. But I enjoyed every minute of it. Some of the jobs were so unique, that after 4 years, I only did that specific job, once.🤣

    1) To make sure I get it down before other passengers shift it some where else
    2) To make sure no one takes my bag by mistake.
    3) To put the book, console, jacket etc back into my bag in case I forget them on the plane

I remember when i flew to London for the first time and everyone was jumping up and trying to get their stuff while the flight attendants told them to sit down.
I was one of the few that keppt seated till we were at the gate. I had a window seat so no stress. I literatly waited till 90 % of the people were off before i grabed my bag and walked out of the plane totally relaxed.
One flight attendant looked at me and said "At least there are some people left that have a certain level of modesty"
I will never understand why they are all in such a rush... you will have to wait at least 10 minutes at the baggage claim area anyway so why such a hurry?

We were taxiing into the gate at Atlanta after a LOOONG trans Atlantic flight. Everyone stood up as we were pulling in to the gate and for some reason, the pilot had to jam on the brakes. Almost everyone who was standing up wound up on the floor. The FA came on and basically said, "That's why we tell you to say seated until..." That was in the early 80's and the passengers were pretty embarrassed. I can only imagine how they would react now. Probably threaten a lawsuit though they were violating federal law.

Well, they just storm the isle not giving me chance to hand over the trash. I'm pretty sure people who leave trash do that (beside being rude) in protest for flight attendants ignoring passengers' trash.

Chips on the floor, empty cups, sometimes not empty cups, and just a lot of trash in general. Passengers don't realize how shitty it sometimes looks like just before they are boarding!
