This happened out of no where for me. Thank you for the video. I had been uploading our videos to my MacBook Pro for years the same way, then all of a sudden after this most recent updated this issue began to happen. Usually all the photos and videos were in the same folder. Then all of a sudden only photos were visible, but I could see and watch the videos from my camera. Thank you for the work around, I didn't want to refilm.

Strange. I have several Panasonic cameras and camcorder that format my SD with the folder structure all viewable with both Mac and Windows, where inside the stream folder I find Avchd videos (* .mts). I got to insert the SD into Sony rooms and found the files with the computer the Avchd files in the same folder. The only thing is that I don't remember if I inserted the card already formatted in Panasonic.
I will have to try to format the SD with Sony camera and see if the Mac Finder sees me that folder and also in Windows with the resource manager.

it is the opposite for me, I can view the videos on my computer but not on the camera, this happens every time I edit a video together with clips from the camera. And im not moving the files I'm simply uploading them to Capcut. Does it not copy the file as I've assumed this whole time and it's actually moving the original file?

Be sure you can view those videos with the camera you took them with, in playback. If not, they could be gone, or you'll need to find another tutorial to help recover them. Mine I could only play back with the camera. This helped me find them with my laptop.

Great short explanation, but i think this is only required on MacOS. On Windows the AVCHD folder is just accessable like an normal folder.

Hi folks! This did not work, BUT I found the solution. On Windows I right clicked on, not the folder, but the main storage of the SD card. (ex. Memory (F:) ). Properties -> Tools -> Fail check and click control.
Now I did this and the files were magically appearing under PRIVATE > M4ROOT > CLIP
I might have some translations wrong here, my OS is in Swedish.

I wouldn't call this a "how to fix", it's more of a "how to use/import" since it's not a bug or issue, it's just the way AVCHD's file structure has behaved for like 16 years.

😂 This is obviously a Mac-issue.
This won't happen on my Linux machine, it will Show the files just fine in the first place 😂🎉
Sometimes I am glad I do not have a Mac.
I would go as far as that even Windows will just show the files 😉 and will accomplish such an easy task.

Good for you and your "Linux machine". Not every system will automatically find these files without either installing an app or searching as shown here. Windows didn't find them on my laptop.
