I want your tee shirt. I love Frog and Toad. It was a class favorite with my pre-schoolers. I’m so glad you had a great get away time with your family, it’s so important. Also, I’m enjoying your book podcasts, I’m an official bookaholic. My habit was nourished by my husband’s job he worked for one of the major book publishers, yay 🎉. 💕
I just got his shirt at Target in the men’s section and I love it. It fits really well too. And yes. Totally agree. Frog and Toad is one of the best. And when you read it as an adult, you realize how profound some of the little stories really are. And thank you so much for watching our book podcast! I’m so glad you’re enjoying it. ❤
I was having major anxiety about the miniatures until I realized that they are assembled open and then you put the wall up. I couldn’t imagine getting all those pieces in that tiny opening.
It's so funny that the impression of bullet journaling has gotten to be that it's such a complicated thing when it started as originally literally bullet points in a book. Those Miniatures look so fun!
I totally know what you mean. I see people ‘bullet journaling’ now and I just want to advise them to PUT AWAY THE BS AND THE WASHI TAPE. They’re missing the point. 🥴
It never occurred to me to have a pair of socks going on separate needles at the same time. I love this idea especially if you are at a heel or toe section you can still be portable with the other one. I’m going to try it!
I'm currently knitting my friend & her boyfriend each a pair of socks, which I've never done but have been meaning to. It's been keeping me quite busy this summer now that I'm forever done with formal schooling. Oh yeah, I'm done with school! No more college classes!
Sock eggs 😂 I love it! I like Paton’s too, and I’m currently knitting my first pair in Regia yarn. It’s a similar vibe, just a nice wooly yarn and I think it will make sturdy socks
We use the word "madrugada" in Brazil, too. For us, it's any time of the night/morning before the crack of dawn, the time before you'd want to be awake. So now you know what it means in two languages 😊 And sock eggs? ❤❤❤ I'll add that one to my knitting patois.
It’s such a cool word. In Portuguese is it spelled the same and pronounced the same way?
5 місяців тому
Hi! Another Brazilian here, I was going to say the same 😅 Also, it's worth to mention that the initial "h" in Spanish, as well as in Portuguese, doesn't have a sound. So it's pronounced "acienda"
5 місяців тому
@@WOOLNEEDLESHANDSyes, spelled and pronounced the same, and the meaning is the same as well. Portuguese and Spanish share a lot of identical or similar vocabulary. It is common for Portuguese speakers to be able to understand Spanish to some extent without having studied the language. The contrary is a bit less common because Portuguese has about 37 phonemes and Spanish has 29, the numbers might not be exact, but it's a big difference like that. There is even a "mixed" language in which Portuguese and Spanish speakers communicate, called "Portuñol"
Please note, it's pronounced AH-sien-da. Three syllables, no English "H" sound at the beginning (as in French, the H is silent in Spanish). Glad you are back! Thanks for the video.
I’ve seen those miniature book nooks as ads, but didn’t know what quality they have. Now I’m buying one! Thanks for reviewing! And also, the book seat, such a genius idea!! Off to your booktube channel!
I’m also obsessed with building miniatures! The kits that you can buy today are awesome. I’m building a miniature garden glass house right now. Super cute and it’s like my utopian garden house if I would ever be able to get one. Next I’m building a bookshop for my mom’s birthday. She is a book lover and has this huge book wall, this miniature bookshop will look very nice on.
Good to see you again! Socks are so much fun. I was given about 3 pounds of old sock yarn - partial skeins etc. Not colours anyone I know would wear and I figured it would take me years to use it up. Recently decided to crochet 2 mini afghans with 2 separate colour schemes. About 25% left. 😊
Oh dear! What a rabbit hole you led me down! Loved your library book nook so much, I purchased one and just finished my first one today. Such a fun break between knitting socks.
Welcome back! Hope you had a splendid time with family. I picked up the patons kroy midnight garden on clearance at hobby lobby for $2.74 a couple of years ago. Now I know what it will look like knit up, so pretty.
You look refreshed! I have been enjoying a lot of small projects lately and they are mostly crochet. Writing is my thing (I actually hate reading 😳) writing in a journal is therapeutic for me. I'd copy the dictionary just to write. I do use the Bullet Journal style, but it is the simple original format not all the fancy stickers and artsy pages.
Hi, Taylor, I knit socks with Kept sock.yarn and love it as well. If you haven't tried sock yarn by Knit picks, I love their Stroll sock yarn. There are solids, tweeds, tonals and minis. Take a look. Nancy
Okay can I say how brilliant doing two at a time on separate needles! Was so afraid to do the two at a time on the same needle but here is the solution. I want to do those bookends too. I have my eye on. bakery one.
I immediately ordered fr. Amazon the Patons Kroy Socks Yarn in the Mid Century Stripes you showed because I have a picture from Africa w/those colors & I've always wanted yarn in those colors too, thanks Taylor! Also because they enticed me, I ordered the Red Suricate Adjustable Sock Blockers. I'm naming my sock yarn "Yarn Eggs"...adorable! You're blessed to have family and no time to knit.
Love your socks. I am hoping to start a pair myself soon. I always have trouble with gauge when I tried to do toe up. I think I’ll stick with cuff down. I’m a loose knitter I guess. It gets so frustrating so I haven’t done any for a while. While I am an avid reader I am not into anything supernatural. Not my thing. I will keep an eye on your channel to see if there are books I am interested in. Glad you were able to recharge and enjoy your reunion as well.😊
Have you ever tried Regia brand sock yarn? It comes in 100 g balls and is 75% wool and 25% polyamide. So one ball makes a pair and then some. I buy it in 2 ball quantities in hopes that I can get a kid size pair out of the leftovers after I knit 2 adult pairs. I just bout a bunch from LindeHobby for about $11.00 per 100 gram ball. It can sell for $18 or $19 elsewhere. It comes in stripes, patterns, tweeds and solid. It’s nice.😊
I couldn't pay attention to what you were saying because eeeek frog and toad shirt! Ok I will go back and pay attention now! Omg sock eggs that's fantastic. I love patons kroy as well. I have a hat and its made out of patons kroy and they accidentally went thru the wash and dryer which I don't usually do with any wool and they came out better than when I first knit them
Hey Taylor, Since you liked The Miniaturist, there is a sequel, that takes place about 20 years later, called The House of Fortune. You should put that on your TBR list.
Everyone is making socks this summer. Crazy Sock Lady has Summer Sock Camp. Knitty Natty has Sock week coming up. I think it's probably the same reason you are doing socks. It's too hot to have something heavy and wooly in your lap. Glad you are back! ❤❤
I think Kroy is my favorite sock yarn as well and I am working on a pair of socks in 70’s stripe. I live in Las Vegas so I get the need to work on small projects.
It is intensely hot, humid, and dry here on the NC coast. I am knitting a Salty Air tee. I am using Berroco Remix light. This is a good summer yarn with the following fiber content, 30% nylon, 27% cotton, 24% acrylic, 10% silk, 9% linen. It is considered a DK weight but I feel it may be more like sport. The yarn has texture and tweedy bits. It is reasonably priced and fun to knit.
This sounds like the perfect knitting for that kind of weather. Hot and humid is no joke. I complain (out of desert native habit really) about dry, 111 degree heat. But that is far more manageable than 80-90 degrees with high humidity. That’s a whole different bag of beans! Stay hydrated!
I’m so excited that you dye using Lovely Valley Wool! I’ve lived in Reno for 8 years and just heard 🐑 about them (And worked for a LYS and never knew). I’ll definitely be looking for your restock!!!
I've also been in sock mode. I got the Summer Lee book The Sock Project and it's pushing me to learn new need techniques. I'm also working on Christmas gift socks.
Those miniatures are amazing I love them, I’m having to use all my will power to not look into them though cos I need a new hobby like I need a hole in my head haha 😂
I didn’t know your husband is from Michigan! I hope you got to experience at least one Great Lake while you were here! I knit my MIL a pair of socks in midnight orchid last Christmas…it doesn’t bother me, but the balls were wound in opposite directions, so the stripes ended up exactly reversed. lol! I definitely think I need a pair in that colorway for myself!
Honestly Tayler what have you done?! I love miniatures too and now there’s a whole new rabbit hole to investigate! Also my Frog and Toad tote bag says hi to your tee! ❤❤❤
You can knit on the flight?? Last time my husband and i was flying to istanbul they took my needles (and my knitted progress) because "its sharp and could be used as a weapon". I did take needles twice before that without any issue so i was realy angry! We already gave away our luggage so that i had to "throw away" my needles and my yarn. So think about it, before planning to knit at the flight. I dont take it into the plane anymore 😓

I love Patons Kroy, too. The only issue I have is that the yardage is often too little for one sock from a skein. Some skeins are only 80some yards.
Thank you for the miniature recommendation. I just ordered one for my puzzle loving daughter to take on vacation.

Patons Kroy is thicker than some of tbe other sock yarns I have used. I think you could knit slightly looser and still have sturdy socks.
