I love that you knit your socks without sticking to the pattern instructions because that is exactly what I do: take the main point (be it pattern, design or some interesting thing) and do the rest of the sock the way I like. It works and I always end up happy with the results. You are the first UA-camr I have seen/heard who has articulated this, brava! (And your chosen patterns are cool: I hope you have made them!).
Well, not socks but sweaters. I am learning how to knit my first one with many more on my radar. Two are from the Harry Potter knitting book you showcased a while back. Someday, I might knit socks, but it is not this day!☺️
First time I watch your pod and love the socks you are making I am making some in Paton Kroy right now so glad you said they wash up nice Glad I found you !!! 😊💝🇨🇦🇨🇦
Hi Nicole, I’ve enjoyed your podcast today. This is the first time that I have met you and you did this one a year ago same time of year I am working on socks right now with Kay‘s summer camp, but I’m still on my first sock and scared, never made a soccer before I’m a new Knitter. I’ve made one garment a tank top last summer to take to Hawaii and I have like three on the hooks and I just started the sock. I’m so glad to meet you. I’ve enjoyed it very much.
I just started making socks so thank you for not only the inspiration but the attitude! Love these patterns! there are definitely a few I'm going to make. and thank you for yarn ideas too, that really helps. I started to get a little overwhelmed when watching some of these great podcasts and seeing all the projects that people seem to get done so quickly. Plus there are so many beautiful projects coming out! I have so many patterns in my que....LOL but you put it in perspective and I'm just going to knit how I want to knit - for pleasure not pressure
Thank you for watching, Mary!❤️ I’m right there with you…it can be overwhelming to scroll through social media or watch podcasts where others knit at a much faster pace. But comparison is the thief of joy, and I want knitting to bring me joy, always!! 😊
Thanks Nicole. I liked this episode. I'm knitting Kay's Rhinebeck Roomie sock pattern right now. I hope you had a fun day with your family. I'll try some of those other patterns you suggested too.
Love the sock parade. I started sock #4 about a year ago, so I need to find that and finish it. The pine socks pattern will be on my summer sock list. Thanks.😊
Another great video ... enjoyed it while knitting away on my 4 mos old granddaughter's little dress. As you were sharing your want-to-knit socks, I was looking them up on Ravelry. I found that the Intersections socks from 52 Weeks of Knitting is being offered on Ravelry as an individual pattern just in case any of your followers were interested in knitting those socks also.
Same mood here 😂😂😂 I’m knitting a sock and to the heel 🤔 Don’t know which…. Maybe something different. Top down club all the way. Love the Taiga sock and colors. Have you tried a round toe? I’m a 9” circ girl but bought a circular to try magic loop maybe. Cables are easy. I use a wooden toothpick buffed with a nail buffer. Haha nothing fancy and I used it on a 6 stitch double cable on a sweater. Easy supply I found in the cupboard. Going to get the Hermoine pattern out for the slip stitch heel and give it a go. Thanks for a great episode today! You inspire. Hey if you make the Taiga socks, take a look at the Alaska hat and sweater patterns. I’ve made the hat and love it!
I thoroughly enjoy your videos! Thank you for sharing the project bag video. I see Christmas gifts in the future for a couple friends. My thoughts on starting socks...I purchased a set of DPNs😵💫, next i purchased 9inch circulars😖, and to not give up, I purchased 32 inch circulars for magic loop🤔. I will not be deterred. I will not be deterred. LOL
I only became a sock knitter last summer. I wanted to and tried for so long. Soooo, I only knit vanilla right now. I have bought two patterns. I will get to them one day.
I knit Intersections toe up, as I prefer a toe up construction. Suggestion, go up one size when knitting around the ankle. The cables pull the fabric in quite a bit. It fit through the foot and leg, and was tight getting the sock over my heel, So I ripped the sock back tobthe ankle, used a larger needle for about 8-10 rows and it fit. At least I didn't knit these 2 at a time. I agree about adapting a pattern to your preferred construction and the toe or heel that fits your foot the best.
For the daily socks patterns I also had a huge issue with them being wayyyyy too tight. I knit two pairs for my daughter (I usually use size 2 needles as well for socks because I am a tight knitter) and for the second pair I went up a whole size in the pattern and they fit better. I’m not sure if its just the stitch repeat that makes the socks sooooo tight but I can relate 😅

Thanks, Noelle!😊 So happy to have a sock rebel buddy! 😂
Your the Pine Cottage was delightful , in the beginning was very helpful with your suggestions in stitch count. Will follow soon 26:43
Hi Nicole, another tip when knitting colorwork on socks is to knit it inside out to allow to floats more area to spread out and not be to tight.
Lov that tip…..thanks!
You and me, girl. I’m not rushing with anything

You might want to knit the colorwork on a 2 1/2 needle to allow a little more stretch in th leg.
Same mood here 😂😂😂

@@ThePineCottage thank you for the encouragement! at this point, I am determined to learn sock knitting.

Vanilla socks are my favorite! ❤️ Knit what you love! 😊

Oh, good to know! Maybe I’ll go up to a US 3! Thank you! 😊
Do you prefer 4DPN OR 5DPN? I have a great deal of difficulty handling 5 needle
I prefer 5, but have used 4 in a pinch. 😊
@@ThePineCottage thank you!
What dpns do you use?
Chiao Goo 😊
