How Much Does the DNA Appliance and Homeoblock Cost

- How much does the DNA appliance cost? How much does a Homeoblock appliance cost? adult palatal expanders can be quite expensive. We bundle the appliance cost, myofunctional therapy recommendations, photographs, three dimensional x-ray and all the visits into one fee. Most DNA appliances cost between $8000 and $12,000. The cost depends on the complexity of a case and the length of treatment.

Hi Dr Adams:
I am one of your patients. You're definitely doing a great job! My asymmetry does seem to be improving. The cant or slant of my jaw is not as noticeable as it once was. But, placebo-proof palatal expansion is not evident at the moment.
Are the changes in the upper palatal expansion more evident near the end of the treatment? For example, around the 20th turn of the Homeoblock appliance?
I am comfortably on the 13th turn at the moment. I know the palate is indeed expanding, because if I tried to jump start the appliance straight to the 13th turn at the beginning of the treatment, it would have been impossible -- literally impossible!
Yet, placebo-proof noticeable expansion is not yet evident based on the photos I am taking. Is it because of the mechanisms involved? Please let me know at your earliest convenience.
Which insurances would cover this?
Thank you for these great videos!
I have a narrow high upper palette so would I still need a frenectopy? Or would the Vivo DNA correct that upper palette so you do not need the frenectomy?
Also what is the difference between the DNA appliance and the Homeoblock? Are they both the same price? I have crooked front teeth as well as crowding.
Also what about the ALF appliance?
All these are great questions. The tongue tie depends on whether the can function properly. Have you looked into Myofunctional Therapy? The difference between the DNA and Homeoblock is mainly the shape of the spring on the appliances. One doctor may design differently than the other. Appliances are really tools to correct a situation. The doctors skill set in terms of diagnosis, appliance selection and design is much more important than one appliance over the other. ALF appliances are great but they produce much less expansion and there is less control in direction.
I've been using the Homeoblock device for 4.5 months now. So far, the expansion of my maxilla and the resulting pulling forward of my lower jaw, have not improved my sleep apnea symptoms. Before the Homeoblock, I would have to get fairly lean (body fat percentage) to experience any improvements in my symptoms. With the device, I notice no improvements outside of getting leaner, which tells me that a decrease in just a little bit of body fat has a greater effect on my sleep quality than what the device has had so far. Dr. Belfor did a full scan of my head and neck area (and throat) and told me my airway was fine (with plenty of room) but that my jaw was too small for my tongue and that I was a prime candidate for the Homeoblock Device. Whatever extra room has resulted from the expansion of my Maxilla, it hasn't yet been as effective in improving my sleep apnea symptoms as losing some extra body fat. I want to note that I am not fat or obese, and in fact, am in great physical shape with about 13 percent body fat. I use to have to get down to about 10-11% body fat to experience significant improvement in sleep quality, but when I started the device I thought, maybe, I wouldn't have to work so hard to get that lean. I was wrong: I do have to get that lean to experience relief in sleep quality symptoms. So, the bottom line is that so far I can improve the space in the back of my throat more by losing some body fat than by expanding the Maxilla with the Homeoblock Device. I spent $10K on this device, so I hope I notice some improvement in the next several months.
The appliance will make your mouth bigger, but you need to train your tongue to stay in your mouth. Have you been evaluated for lip and tongue ties and looked into Myofunctional therapy? That what’s going to make you better. The appliance just increases your mouth size so the tongue may be able to stay in your mouth. I have more videos about this. Good luck

Hey Dr Adams, is your myofunctional therapy playlist still up on UA-cam? I remember you worked with a woman therapist in Florida for them.
Look on my other channel “TMJ Sleep and Breathe Center” UA-cam channel. I should put it up here too
Well thanks for putting my curiosity to rest.... it is out of my reach for now or for a good while lol
I’m sorry :( most dental offices have payment plans but it is expensive. The appliance have a huge investment in research and development and we don’t own the technology or manufacture the appliances.
Will wearing it mess up my dental occlusion?
Currently I have correct dental occlusion because of my braces, i want to use such a device on my maxilla to improve nose breathing during sleep, snoring and avoid sleep apnea in future.
No these appliances if managed properly will not make occlusion worse. But if you need on of these you do not have ideal occlusion.
How do I find out if some orthodontist sells these around me? Im checking the orthodontists in my area and I hear none of them mention this as a possibility. Do i have to do this online somehow?
Most orthodontist do not specialize in this kind of treatment. Try doing a search online for DNA appliance or HOMEOBLOCK appliance provider. We also have a traveling patient program where we can complete most adult cases and 5 to 7 visits where the checkup appointments are every four months.
Hello there, I would be interested in more information. I have a type 3 maxilar jaw (my mandibula is more proeminent than my maxilar); I was suggested a surgery and I've discovered this which sounds like a relief if it would work on my case since I don't want to have surgery. The difference is not huge, it's about a few mm's. I am aged 34.
Thank you in advance and more blessings.

Do you take Delta Dental?
Yes
hi, I was wondering whether you know of certified providers for these appliances in the uk? Im struggling to find one myself. Whether they are called something else maybe? I previously had treatment at aged 21, RPE followed by a Damon brace, but since this time, ten years now, I've noticed that I still have quite a severe cross-bite, narrow maxilla and my teeth are becoming crooked again. My sleep apnea is much worse these days and I have related health conditions. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for you time, Jaimi.
I’m really sorry, but I don’t know of anyone. Can anyone help with a referral?
