Hello! The marigold plant is beautiful. You got quite a few of the ground cherries. Jam or chutney sounds good. I have never heard of pawpaw's. Now I see what they are. Thanks for sharing.💙💓💜
I am glad I was able to share pawpaws with you! 💚 I made some ground cherry preserves in todays video, they turned out really good! We have almost eaten them all up already haha
So we ended up heading out to harvest pawpaws thanks to you we made a short thank you so much for the reminder let you husband know we are new to the paw paw also and we only had 5 last year ended up with nearly 45 pounds this year so they have a year of chill then they just let off the next we love your channel keep up the good work guys 🤩
We just watched your short! What a fantastic haul you guys had! We are a little bit jealous, our PawPaws are not quite in full swing yet, but hopefully they will be soon! Hope you guys enjoyed them! -Cara & Ryan
You learn something everyday because I have never heard of a pawpaw tree before, how fascinating 🤗 those ground cherries look lovely even though I’ve never tried them 😀
Oh Cara that marigold is GORGEOUS! Love the colour! Hahaha loved Ryan on the hunt for paw paw “shake the tree and watch your head”!! 😂 great harvest of ground cherries Cara, I love that skeleton shell they have over them, it’s almost like lace! Bless you guys xx 🌻💐💓
Hi Anita! Thank you 😊 Ryan cracks me up with the “making the pawpaws rain” they do kind of hurt if they hit you on your head 🤪🙈. I agree the ground cherries do remind me of lacy. I think it is very pretty too 💚
Hey Cara, I love foraging so much💕 I think those paw paws would give you a headache if they hit your head lol 😂 they looked rather heavy!! Such a great find, they are expensive here in Australia unless you live where they grow. Love ground cherries, but I never seem to get a huge harvest like yours, so well done xx Cathi xx 😘
Hi Cathi! Haha yes the pawpaws could defiantly give you a pretty good sized goose egg on your head if the hit you. Never knew they were such a dangerous fruit did you haha? Our ground cherries seem to grow everywhere and self seed themselves like crazy here! -Cara
Interesting video. I enjoyed seeing the paw paw fruits. They don't grow naturally here but some nurseries sell the trees for the more experimental gardeners. I always wondered what the fruit was like. Now I know 🙂
Ok this is weird we harvested a bunch of Ground Cherries last night and when we got home, watched a pod cast on Pawpaws 😁🤣. First year for ground cherries, love em and the plants look so cool !! Definitely interested in Pawpaws aswell !! Have a great day you two !! Cheers J&C 🌱🌱🌱
Haha too funny, we had the same train of thought! I recently made ground cherry preserves. (video coming out on that tomorrow) It turned out really good, you guys should give it a try with yours!
@@clivesconundrumgarden If your ground cherries are anything like ours, they will self seed themselves everywhere! Just wait until next year, you will have ground cherries everywhere.
It is a joy to be able to harvest lots of food on our property for sure! 😊I was just googling and apparently Pawpaws grow wild in 25 states across north america so you will have to go foraging and try and find some! 😊
Hi you two what a wonderful life your sharing there with us , seem to have what you need just out side your door, impressed and just a tad jealous 😀. Stay safe Bill and val
Awww thank you guys! We are really thankful to have found large pawpaw trees already growing on the property. It is really nice to be able to harvest without having to plant them. Hope you guys are doing well! -Ryan & Cara
Very awesome video sharing. The ground cherry make me remind when I was young. We ate a lot of them in the farm, after that not long I was drunk.😁😅 But we never give up because it's tasty. Thank you for sharing, my dear friend. 💞 Have a nice Sunday.👍💯
Wow, foraging for paw paws growing wild, would never happen where I live (Silicon Valley), LOL! Ground cherries are one of my favorites! Most of my family aren't into them, they must be an acquired taste. The leaves are different on my ground cherries, they're more smooth heart shaped and would never sprawl, more "branchie". I think they're called Aunt Molly. You both are too cute.
Haha yes I think PawPaws are more commonly found on the east coast. I believe this ground cherry variety is called Pineapple ground cherry. I grew one plant last year and they self seeded themselves like crazy this year, but I am not mad at it haha 😊-Cara
That’s awesome I’ve never knew what a ground cherry was I’ve seen them a ton had no idea what they are that’s a good example of what a pawpaw tastes like a banana and a mango had a baby 🤙🏻
Pawpaws look pretty delicious! Non here in the north of England! The fruits and berries we are able to grow and forage tend to be the bitter/ sour varieties 😂. This morning we found a kind of white elderberry. Never seen this before. I’ll be making some jam with those. Hope your chutney works out well.
I have never tried a white elderberry before! How fun! I am just starting to get into foraging more and trying to learn all about it, I have been looking for that wild quinoa after seeing your video the other day! -Cara
Oh how nice … I want paw paws . I have 3 trees in the garden , but only one gave me a handful and it dropped them when the were about the size of a walnut . Maybe next year !
I went and got a pawpaw, but mawmaw made me return him. LOL Sorry, but had to have the obligatory pawpaw joke. Those are pretty cool. Not sure we have any here. And also don't know about the ground cherries either. What a wealth of newfound knowledge you two are! Thank you for sharing.
@@bluebirdhomestead hey I wanted to ask you if you get any seeds can you wet some put them in a paper towel and mail them to me I know it's asking a lot but I will pay for the postage all you have to do is lightly wet them put them in a paper towel and a paper bag and then I can grow them this spring if you can let me know if not it'll be okayPaw paw
I know what a pawpaw is, but they don't grow in our northern climate. They would have to be indoor potted plants where I live. I would have to see if ground cherries would grow here. They look interesting. 💖💖💖
So awesome! Sadly, I haven’t gotten any ground cherries growing yet. I haven’t eaten paw paws yet, but I’ve heard they are delicious. I was hoping to get some to plant in our new food forest. Cool video.
Once you have ground cherries in your garden you will always have them haha. We had one plant last year and this year we have a dozen or more that self seeded themselves 😊
I have never even heard of Pawpaws, where do you guys live? I just discovered your channel so I'm sorry if you have said it already in previous videos!
We are on the east coast. According to google haha Pawpaws grow wild in 25 states across North America. So you never know you may have some hiding near you 😊😉
They are very sweet! I think they taste like a pineapple and cherry tomato cross. Almost tropical. All of these self seeded themselves from last years one plant. -Cara
Pawpaws really have a very tropical flavor that I always find so surprising. It is very similar to a mango! It just feels out of place in a place that has a winter and gets snow haha.

I was expecting a paw paw to land on Ryan's head.
