    This composition sounds as if you are currently working on "back to africa" or something like that! And I love it as much as I do all your other masterpieces, which always seem to have these wonderful ingedients called "love" and "peace". Considering other composers with their heavy and dramatic kind of epic music, you are in my eyes a "composer of light".
    Hopefully you keep on forging this one!
    Thank you for all your beautiful work!

    What's missing from this tutorial is that in order to create all these amazing textures that blend with the melodies so well is first A musicians ear. 2.) A talent for music and composition and 3.) Years of practice seeing what works and doesn't and having a keen eye for melodic arrangement. All of these things don't come easily. But what anyone can do is just to begin and have fun with what you have as that's what the very basis of music should be. If you're enjoying what you create and you put passion and love into so will it translate into the music itself and the audience will relive that as pure emotional connection and enlightenment through pure notational symphony.

    Where is the LOVE button? :D UA-cam does not offer that, like Facebook does, but no worries. This is very good advice. I myself have produced electronic music (positive breakbeat mostly), so can relate. But I am moving to that direction in creating new music. At least this is what I am dreaming about doing in the near future :)
    PS: I am a great fan of your music! This is absolutely amazing (I mean the many-many pieces of music you have created)! Enjoyable and powerful!
    A thankful delighted enjoyer of your music.

    Hey, that sample piece worked out really nicely, but why would you say that it's bad? Could you perhaps explain what could have gone better?
    Plus, you should continue to make these tutorials; yet I'd also like to see some of your own works of epic at once in a while as well.

    • @MarcusWarnerMusic

      Hi Liam,
      If I could have done it again I would have made sure to turn down the levels of everything by a lot, having not done a tutorial whilst making a piece of music before I did not think about the mix until it was too late and so ended up having to put a limiter on everything which results in the mix sounding very squashed. I would also say, as I mentioned at 4:02, that whilst this kind of orchestration gets the job done if you're in hurry, it isn't necessarily the most creative of approaches.
      Thanks, I will definitely be looking at some previous tracks in the future!

    Very nice, Marcus! Can you do a tutorial on variations around a theme please? Now that you have a hook (or you could call it part A), let's do a proper Intro, another part (B), then Outro. Always had a challenge coming up with this stuff.

    • @MarcusWarnerMusic
      @MarcusWarnerMusic  6 років тому

      Good idea, my only thought is that the further you go with a piece from start to finish, the more potential variations there are. Sort of like one of those multiple choice games. Even this one section of music in this tutorial was one example of hundreds of subgenres of 'epic music'. The more of the piece I do from start to finish, the more specific it becomes, and I don't want these to be 'tutorials on how to write like Marcus Warner'.

    Seeing this makes me want to try it myself. My question is: approximately what percentage of your music do you produce using only "virtual" instruments? Because I love just about all of your music, and it boggles my mind to think that you can create a sound like yours using only computers.
    Also because I would like to produce my own music one day, but expect to have very limited resources. :P

    • @MarcusWarnerMusic
      @MarcusWarnerMusic  6 років тому

      Without a doubt it's 95% or above virtual. You don't need to have tons of live instruments for it to sound real, just one or two tracks over the top to blend it all together. Most of the time for me it'll be irish whistle or guitar! But good music can be made 100% virtually.

    • @MarcusWarnerMusic
      @MarcusWarnerMusic  6 років тому

      Haha very kind. As far as I can make out, Hans Zimmer popularised the genre and the orchestration/pop writing techniques which have taken over from the more traditional John Williams scoring style, but TSFH really were the first to put it on steroids and make what we know as the 'epic trailer music' of today. There are tons of them around today now, anything by Audiomachine, Really Slow Motion etc.
