- In this tutorial, Isaias Garcia will walk you through his process of composing and orchestrating dramatic/emotional cues fit for Film and TV underscoring. By using a more intimate template of ensemble strings and winds, you can create solid mockups to support characters and events within a story; complimented by a short theme and various key changes to create harmonic movement.

You are a very talented composer.
This is definitely the best theme I've heard in these types of tutorials; tbh, this is probs the best I've seen/heard. Most of the time the compositions are overproduced; either too many instruments on at the same time, too much mixing, or overcompensating by having an amateurishly complex theme, or all three. This is really perfect. I would put this on my spotify playlist if the music were on the app.
Hey Daniel thanks for the kind words! Very happy you enjoyed the tutorial and this style of music. It's good to sometimes mix things up, I think. =) My part 2 of this tutorial is in a similar style as well. And this track is actually available on my personal Bandcamp, on the album "Music for All Souls", titled "The Housekeeper and the Queen". Cheers and good luck with your music! - Isaias
1:27 to 1:34 when the strings first played with right side pan and slowly the same melody in the centre..... Goosebumps.. one of the best orchestral scoring... The harp portions is amazing.. Keep going
Amazing work on this, Isaias! Love the cue, and there is some truly great tips in there!
Absolutely loved this tutorial, Isaias, brilliantly produced and presented. Lovely haunting, touching theme music. Just found this again and its as fresh today!
Really nice!!!I like the idea of getting away from one key signature and creating harmonic movements. Thanks for sharing!
Sounds like this could be the score for a movie like Aladdin, great job buddy, I really enjoyed listening to it ❤️
Absolutely beautiful composition and the arrangement is just superb! Simplicity within the complexity of instrumentation used, if that makes sense :) Such a wonderful dance between each "player". Thank you so much for the break down, Isaias!
Thanks Zahari, glad you enjoyed it and happy to help! Be sure to check out Part II on our channel.
Isaias - I went on and supported you on your Bandcamp channel by purchasing the entire album to which this piece belongs - _”Music for All Souls”_ . Really enjoying your compositions!
Thanks so much Zahari! Happily received. =) The album has been a part-time passion project since 2011, and the author actually licensed it recently for the official audiobook, so it's been a fun ride. Glad you're enjoying the compositions my friend. - Isaias
So great to see when something actually flourishes to its fullness! I am glad that the album has a success. It is a fine album! People must hear it out! :)
By the way, I have enrolled in your Evenant course _Cinematic Music: From Idea To Finished Recording_ today! Wish me success too!
Woohoo! How are you finding the course so far? =)
A very nice discovery your channel, thank you for passing on your knowledge - Hello from France 🇫🇷

I just love the part that comes after 2:09! This Tutorial was really helpful and I always come back just to hear this Track! Is it released anywhere? I just fell in love with this track! Great Work Isaias!
Well done! And very helpful, full of useful information!
Woooow..... Das ist so schön. Traumhaft. Wonderful.
Beautiful piece!! People are truly sleeping on the East West libraries. You make them sound so awesome.
Isaias, when do you do the tempo-changings, during the scoring or at the end of your project ?
The motif is reminiscent of Prince of Egypt
I really like this! Really do.
Wonderful and so inspirational.
Beautifully orchestrated
Your tutorials are wonderful, thanks man!
What a wonderful composition.
Great pair of videos. Would like to see more along these lines.
Excellent!
Beautiful!!!.
Thanks so much! - Isaias
Isaias Garcia :Shout out to you. @02:15 statues - by Alexandre Désplat from the Harry Potter and The Feathly Hallows pt.2
True
Thanks very good good theme nice tutorial
fantastic
I loved the swell man. This work is a gem. Love from Nepal. I’m subbed. _/\_
@10:05
That's not actually how many players there are. The number represents how many voices there are. Page 45/46 in the hollywood strings manual under long powerful system.
Yes you're absolutely right, thanks for mentioning. It was an oversight on my end. =)
lol right? UA-cam "teachers"...
Nothing wrong with people trying to share their knowledge with others. I've learned a lot via internet/youtube "teachers". Even if it's technically wrong due to how the library was built, the concept of having fewer players to create a more intimate feel is good on Isaias' part.
It's the number of dynamic layers used in the instrument, and it determines how many voices the instrument uses as mentioned above. 6 dynamic layers (Sus 6) means vibrato and dynamics are both controlled via the Modwheel. 9 dynamic layers (Sus 9) gives you separate control over vibrato and dynamics (vibrato = Modwheel, dynamics = CC11)
Nice song
Great video, thank you!! Can you make overview of your hybrid music (film score or trailer) Also very interesting, how organized your default template. Thx for your tutorials!
Will definitely look into hybrid music in later tutorials. Stay tuned and thanks for the comments!
Great work also thanks for the sub 😃
Nice piece, this sounds like the one from Life of Pi movie combined with John Williams technique.
Thanks so much Andi, glad you enjoyed it!
Amazing bro... I love it 😍... Regards from Indonesia 😄🙏
Good Job+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
this is amazing could you explain about the tempo automation please?
Thissss!! Is amazingggg!!!
James Horner style, RIP LEGEND
I love your track! Where do you get the hall white noise from in Play? Thanks
I have the same question too
10/10 thank you
Thanks for a beautiful composition. Do you use the "follow the chords" feature to create songs or any music arguments?
Hi there man, awesome work with the score and explanation.
I would to ask you in a few words, the important thing here is to create a switch between Major and minor to create Harmonics and also a kind of transition right?.
You need also to make key changes or just choose a general key and then go with major and minor?
I know this video is 4yrs old at this point but I have a question that I can't find any video to explain it.
At 1:15, what instruments are used for these types of swells? Cymbals only? A variety of percussional instruments? I hear it all the time in film scores but I swear for the life of me I can't seem to replicate it. Some sound like cymbals. Other times it sounds like some type of drum/cymbal combination. Is it multiple hits in quick secession or just a roll? Is a mod wheel used? Are multiple cymbals and/or percussion instruments being used at the same time to make this effect?
I've got many top libraries from Damage 2 to HZ Percussion Professional, BBCSO Pro, etc. Surely I have a library to do this but I don't know which instruments to use to make those sounds. And when I look for videos on percussion, almost all are directed toward "epic" sounds. Not emotional type film scores.
It's like somebody's reminiscing of good days.
Nice imagery, certainly crossed my mind when I was composing this. - Isaias =)
Can u explain the percussions you used for the orchestral buildup ?
I'm sure as hell i've heard this theme in a movie. Maybe the melody is just similar to the one i heard
Is the CPU meter freaking anybody else out?
Great video, but I've noticed that the voice and music are too quiet in all the videos on this page. Pump it up
What kind of plugins do you have on bus 1? I'm guessing reverb, but could you tell me which, and how much etc.?
Hi there! Yes, I'm using one of Logic's built-in reverbs (2.0 scoring stage) for all my East West string patches to save on CPU performance.
What piano library do you use on mixer channel named "Steinway Grand Piano"? Its sound wonderfull
Love this! Which orchestral library are you using? Thanks!
Watch the video
Wonderful... on a humorous note, I can't help but notice your CPU is almost maxed out... it reminds me of a Monty Python sketch.... if you add a triangle it may burst the balloon.... "Just one wafer-thin mint?" 😝 x
I might just have to try that out and record the results. I'll get 2 triangles to play a devilish tritone. :P
Thank you for sharing. The tempo automation, is that something you do after composing to a set tempo?
Hey Bryan! Yes, I'll normally add in the tempo automation after the bulk of the piece is complete. Unless I'm actually scoring to picture, where I would then map out all my tempi and time signatures during spotting, before I write any music.
Chris Bradley with Produce Like A Boss sent me your UA-cam location. I was asking her about how to get an underscore done on a project if accepted by a music supervisor. I have composed the project using Logic Pro x. My question is are there individuals such as yourself that would provide the underscore, of course for a fee, of any sync licensing I would obtain? And if so, what would be an average fee, say up to and around 30 to 40 tracks per project. From searching the web I did find composer work usually for an hourly fee which this makes perfect sense. Any info you can share would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Frank Kennington
Hi Frank! If you could email support@evenant.com we'd be happy to help out!
Where do you get the Hall Noise plug-in?
Hi Cameron, the Hall Noise sample comes from East West Symphonic Orchestra, under their metal percussions folder. =)
Can u show the woods sound where i Can find it?
And the track for that record sound on the top
Hey Dawid! The woodwinds come from East West Symphonic Orchestra. It's an older library that some people have stopped using, but I still enjoy it. Cheers! -Isaias =)
Eccellente amico ( ; = ))
Grazie!
Was there a particular scale you played in the Harp around 0:37?
Hi Cameron! Isaias here, no particular scale in mind, just simple chord outlines on G and Db.
Evenant thanks for the reply! This is great work! I’m submitting a score to a film contest. These tips have been amazing!
Thanks for the kind words. Best of luck in the contest!
You speaking super low is the comic relief
Great tutorial
dude, what key is this in...
👏👏❤❤👍
Making contact 2022 remake aka joey

where is the hall noise from?
from EW orchestra play editiion
where can I find hall noise in Play? I woul lie to give that a try :)
Hi Andre, the Hall Noise sample comes from East West Symphonic Orchestra, under their metal percussions folder. =)
thanks!
hella prince of persia death scene vibes
This definitely combines the best of disney and dreamworks compositions but...
As well as Harry Potter
I know logic pro isn't comparable with other DAWs, the sound quality is just another level. There is no way you can make a sound this good in cubase or any other daw and if there is i beg you to prove me wrong.
THis is interesting. Ifind Logic better for other reasons, but this i never expected
Can I get the ability to produce this kind of orchestral music if I undergo cinematic music course in evenant? Please reply as soon as possible.
Hi Priya! Absolutely! If you've had a chance to look at the Cinematic Music course syllabus, you'll that the modules cover a wide variety of topics to teach you how to compose memorable melodies, and orchestration tips to make your music sound large and professional. We have other videos in our channel with some small tips and tricks from the Cinematic Music course previews. =)
Evenant thanks 🙂🎼Also heard about the orchestration course.Waiting for that 👍😃😎
Evenant what i expected is music theory, then music composition then essentials, then cinematic music ,then orchestration then trailer music etc if you guys could provide all in one place in evenant we will not go outside of evenant to study other things.Thank you.consider this if possible
You can check out our Cinematic Music: Essentials course to see if it's a good fit for you :) courses.evenant.com/p/cinematic-music-the-essentials
why are you whispering?
