Plan 30 minutes for putting on gear gassing up the bike and bathroom break before meeting any ride, and you will never be late.
If you love to ride, you will spend more money on your bike than any vehicle you own.

Let me say for any new riders that you may want to navigate within a lane if you're riding by yourself to avoid obstacles, but when riding in a group you stay in formation, which according to MSF is 3 seconds behind the person directly in front of you (2 bikes ahead) and 1 second behind the person that is either to your left or right (1 bike ahead). You also never ride axle to axle like you might see motor officers do. Other to-dos while riding in a group includes the last person to make it through a traffic light before turning red should pull over in a safe area and wait if you see the group ahead is turning. This helps keep the group from getting split up & lost. Always point to debris/roadkill/etc. with either your hand or foot so the riders behind you will know there is a hazard in the road. Never show up last minute for a group ride needing gas or to pee. Always ride your ride and don't let anyone pressure you into riding beyond your skill--talk to the road captain at the next stop and fall back to the rear if the ride becomes too technical for you and slowing others down. Lastly, always keep your rain gear and an extra layer stowed on your bike and always check tire pressure first thing the morning of a ride and keep the tires inflated--this gives me on average 15-18K miles on a set of tires.

Your are one funny guy. I ride a Kawasaki Concours first a 1996 now a 2005. The 1996 I put 370K on it. Only had to replace brake pads one clutch and a timing chain and follower in 370k. I sold that bike and the guy that bought it rode it off. I do all my own repairs from changing oil to rebuilding engines and I change my own tires. Also I have had many other bikes (even Harleys) in my 75 years starting in 1963. I love to ride. That is what I calla real biker.

    1) No gremlin bell for me. 2) Since 2007, I have only owned Harley except for a few months when I owned a Triumph. I really like Harley for more reasons than I can name. I’ve been all over the country on mine. Would rather ride my Harley than travel any other way. 3) I sure don’t save money with my Harley. 4) That extra time getting ready is so worth it even though it is sometimes a pain. 5) I use to be so afraid of rain. Now, after years of riding all over, you get use to the rain because you cannot travel nationwide without hitting rain. Just can’t do it. I’ve ridden through 2 tropical storms. 6) At stoplights or stop signs, I’m looking for a way of escape in case somebody behind me doesn’t get stopped. I recently lost a friend who got hit from behind. 7) Back a few decades, counter steering is something I didn’t believe was happening, but finally realized I had been doing it without even knowing it. I thought I was just leaning.

Counter steering is present in all speeds, even below 20 mph, you don't "turn the bars" at low speed without counter steering first, as you said that's how a bike works. To make a u turn at 5-10 mph to the right, u still push right to start the turn then actually turn the bars to the right

Counter steering FYI: One day while you are out in a safe area to do so, try riding "Cross Handed": Right hand on left grip, left hand on right grip. Amazing. Startling, actually. Note the difference at speeds and lean angle, too. I learned about this back in the 70's. Also, at the start of my rides I sway a few turns, and find my horn button - giving someone a mean "Left Blinker" does not get it! Be prepared!

I put a magnet under my bike to trip red light sensors to let it know that there is a vehicle there that wants to turn or go forward. Lights don't always sense a bike. I don't like cruisers. But a lot of people do so happy to see them on the road anyway.

I have question that kind of goes with this but not really. I see all the wall and it reminds me each time I need to ask this question. I will state for myself, I am a pacifist. I am a veteran, I am a female and I am a new to motorcycle riding. With that said, I chose not to have guns after I got out of the military. So if I ride or am in a situation that words won’t do or wild animals, what are my options? Also I could not figure out your other channel. I am not against others carrying. But my husband is more worried about me while I am alone riding. He thought about maybe mace. For others be kind, I am a vet.

The concept of “bells” comes from Japan. Mayhem doesn’t exist with harmony. Where bells ring and wind chimes chime, harmony keeps mayhem away. That was the thoughts of ancient Japanese. Someone started installing them on Harleys and it became a custom. The fact that it needs to be gifted is so the person receiving it will remember them. I read this on the tag when I bought a “Harmony bell” for my friends Harley.

Yeah nope. Indian is Harley’s closest competition and when it comes to fit and finish, Indian isn’t even close. I’m not a super Harley fan boy. I don’t care for dealerships or even the MoCo as a whole. But I love the bikes, the heritage, and the brotherhood mostly. There’s bikes out that are amazing like one of my favorites, the Yamaha V-Max. But at the end of the day, I’d rather be on my Harley. The V-Max is close, but no one really has anything that can compete with the Vrod. That’s just one example.

A few things I don't think you have covered yet for non riders. Why are the foot pegs set differently (forward, mid, rear) Why do bikes always seem to move faster than traffic on the freeway (to not stay static next to any vehicle). Why hot days are worse to ride in than cold days (because you can reduce cold but not heat). Why a rider quickly slows down without brake lights (that is one I think needs to be added to bikes when you gear down...the brake light should flash). Riding in a matt black helmet will give you a headache after an hour on a clear hot day.

I have been in 46 of the 48 contiguous. Will not go to Maine or Vermont, they elect communists to political office, then whine about taxes and such.
I have been all over Canada, up in the Northwest Territory and above the Arctic Circle. All on motorcycles.
I have raced 5.5 years AMA/WERA Superbike racing.
I am 71 and just sold my Harley.
I can no longer be associsted with the noobs, rubs and losers that are on Hsrleys these days.
I got yelled at by a noob because I always wear a Shoei full face helmet, jacket and gloves.
No bathing suit and t-shirt for me.
Dumb rubs ( pronounced rubes), for Rich Urban Biker. Many are way overweight, too.
I tell folks I have a Harley and I see the revulsion, visions of straight pipes, illegal lane splitting, etc.
When I stsrted riding back in early '60s, I could ride all day and never see another bike.
    Despise what biking has become.
I just noticed the narrator commented " or, not wearing a helmet".
No one' s head is harder than the asphalt, but, I have seen many whose heads were thicker than the asphalt.
THEN...the idiots that ride side by side. Death wish.

Theres one thing that the rest of us understand and bikers do not understand and that is that the stereos on motorcycles sound absulutely horrible. Its ass if the bass is turned all the way down and the treble all the way up and is being piped into an empty coffee can and back out qr everyone. The song thqt you want us all to hear you listening too is almost unintelligible. Theres no way ot can even sound remotely good to the person on the bike. I think its a bad case of denial. They have comvinced themselves that it sounds ok and want the rest of is to rock out with them but it just isnt going to happen. Sounds like shit flat out. I think if it was possible to have good sound on a bike someone would have come up with something by now .

I can't watch the whole video. You can save money riding a motorcycle. I bought a used boulevard for $2500. I get 50mpg. I don't need a bunch of crap on it to ride back and forth to work and an occasional weekend trip. No such thing as gremlins 🙄

You bought a low maintenance reliable bike... a lot of people don't understand the differences and buy a Harley which will cost at least twice as much or more in maintenance.

So harley riders developed an entire mythology just so they dont have to admit to themselves that harleys are pieces of shit.
Also holy hell, $100 to buy harleys oil just so it can all dump out within the first 20 miles. You can buy top of the line race race oil for a sportbike for$40 and it will stay in the bike.
You literally have given 7 reasons to not buy a harley.

Harley Davidson does not make motor oil. It's over priced.

I've been riding 50 years, my Father and Grandfather rode and I've never heard of Gremlin bells, with must be stupid North American crap. I ride two Harley Davidson, a 1988 Lowrider and a 2022 Pan Am Special.

I've never heard of them in the US... I know some Harley riders, they have no bells and never heard of them... I have never seen one before. This might be very specific to certain regions.

You can save lots of money on a motorcycle if you're buying it for that reason.
Buy a fuel efficient bike that doesn't need premium fuel.
Keep it mostly stock. If and when you need spare parts, you can get them cheap from people that are upgrading theirs.
Change your own oil and do your own service.
Don't buy your fluids from the dealership.
If you live in a city, chances are that your commute will be faster on a bike.
    YMMV

Nothing like the fit and finish of a Harley Davidson motorcycle nobody can top it not even Indian. Also Harley Davidson‘s are infinitely rebuildable
