I feel like it's the opposite though. I feel like the Voice won't have any power because every concern or decision has to be bent and molded to the will of the existing shonky Parliament.
Yes the Voice can raise concerns but I feel like this is similar to when I spoke up about racism in my last workplace- nothing happened and I was made a target... so I personally feel like the Voice is just ticking the "we care" box for Labour while I feel the Voice will practically have very little power, if any. It's a representative of indigenous people and affairs but it has to conduct itself and bend itself to Australian Parliament so what good will the Voice do if Liberals shut down any concern the next time theyre in power- or dissolve the Voice completely.
Feels to me like it's all very superficial without any true depth or influence over the mountain of issues facing Original Australians.

Even this seemingly superficial advancement toward a better country, even that is taken to the extremes to push the Ausmerican-Republic Agenda... The Uluru statement from the heart is a profound and generous statement that should be compulsory learning for any Australian politician wanting to improve the quality of life for Australians in general and indigenous Australians in particular. What the Uluru statement expresses is an indigenous depth of relatedness, generosity and consciousness that myself and most of my European ancestors have long since forgotten about.

The survivors of the invasion are still treated terribly and are still subject to treatment intended to destroy them and their culture. Massacres were still occurrring well into the 20th century.
The Indigenous Voice to Parliament is not a third chamber. It is, however a chance to recognise and empower the original people of this land in a way that was included in Arthur Phillips' original instructions when sent here to establish the first penal colony.

Most of the advocates and beneficiaries are more white than aboriginal - and they are living a modern western industrial life and not an indigenous life. There is already 7 aboriginal representatives in parliament, what do you think a non-voting chamber will achieve that these reps can't.
