As someone with zero IT training, and being told AVD/VDI invite coming soon, this helped a lot as a high overview with what it is and how it works. Thanks!
So is this the current replacement for the old Remote Desktop Licensing server of Windows Server? If you wanted to have each RDP accessing the same file, like access would that file have to exist as a sync'd copy in each AVD profile or accessing from a shared Azure File/Storage with standard locks? Seems like a possible way to get past the per user monthly licenses if you could park everyone on a AVD Windows platform vs dedicated Windows Server VM as was previously required?
Are we able to integrate with other AD environments, say if we distribute an app to multiple clients who all want to use their own company's AD authentication to login?
BYOD can work, or provisioning a less expensive, lower spec device. That said, there are security, compliance, and in other cases, performance benefits in addition to cost considerations.
There is great guidance for pricing here: azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/details/virtual-desktop/. The two services are not the same when it comes to multi-session Windows shared VMs in Azure Virtual Desktop. Windows 365 uses a dedicated Cloud PC per user, which is not shared. Also, the management and underlying services are streamlined in as part of Windows 365, whereas they are discrete services in Azure Virtual Desktop.
There are quite a few differences and it boils down to granularity of configurations and controls. Both options are great depending on your scenario and they can be used together. I have never seen such a good video, everything is explained perfectly, compliments, excellent
This video is amazing.
Thank you !!, concise and precise overview
nice thanks! definitely new things for me like reverse connect transport...
Thanks!
Very nice Thank You 😊
Thanks, glad you liked it.
Very helpful video 👍
Question - Does screen saver(not lock screen) feature works on AVD?
It's amazing😍
Thank you
Simply wow... What a great summarised overview! By the way, does it have networking options such AWS (DNS, routing...)?
Yes, it can use the networking and hybrid options from Azure networking, whether you need to connect to on-prem or cross-cloud/cross-SaaS workloads.

so this is basically Microsoft/Azures version of vmware?
What would be the advantages or disadvantages of AVD vs Windows 365?
Windows 365 is easiest to configure, but AVD could cost less as it per usage based
i have the az900. is it ok to do the az140 then do the az104?? also is az140 easier than az104 in general???
Did u take AZ 104 ? iNformmif not taken
Isn't this only cost effective if you do a byod model? You still have to give end users a device to use to login to these virtual desktops

What about vendor lock-in? This solution is good for very small and temporary requirements which depend on Cloud Apps only.
This will let me set the bar high at school with their mediocre ass technology💕💕
Is there any Calculator for me to decide from a cost pov which solution best fit my needs (AVD vs. W365)?

I don't understand well the difference between W365 and this service.

@@MSFTMechanics Thank you ♥️🧑🏻💻🚀
What is the cost for this?
It would depend on which Virtual Machines you choose and other options like FSLogix profiles, etc.
