Can finally download more RAM.
Yay! Back to mainframes and terminals...
Not realy, the entire point is both concept together.
Yep it's just a remote VM
So, it should have been called MS 360.
🙂
my thought exactly :)
I like how Microsoft is open for every ecosystem. He changed to his iPad! This made me smile
I won't be using it as am just an individual with no need for it, but this is going to be a real game changer and is the first time I've actually been excited for a version of Windows since Windows 7.
Hopefully this service isn't limited to businesses/business use only. As a standard consumer, I'd absolutely pay for a subscription to have a personal cloud PC. It's a no-brainer, especially since I could just connect to it with a non-Windows tablet. All the benefits of powerful hardware without the laptop-like sacrifice of battery life. It'd be great for school!
Feedback noted! At this time the service is targeted to business and education needs but we are seeing growing asks for consumers/individuals. Stay Tuned!
@@joxok Just leave out Minecraft, Candy Crush, 'curated' news and other junk please! I want the OS to be just that, if I need anything else I'll download it myself.
Actually, never mind, I'm upgrading to MacOS soon. Don't need to be connected to have amazing performance then with the M1 chip.
Yes I’m wondering how to keep work and personal identities separate and private. But still overlay colanders. And tasks. Etc.
They made a lot of business-oriented apps and services available to consumers recently, so I would not be surprised when Windows 365 comes to consumer side in 2022.
I bought a Office 365 license and would assume I can use Windows 365 with it. Essential, Windows 365 is just a Azure service using your Azure AD. So no business needed.
What an honor to work with such an amazing team to bring Windows to the cloud. #win365 #cloudpc
you work at microsoft ?
@@AliAhmed63708 .....he's one of the people in the video.
Fantastic work guys.
Does you have any news for us about personal subscription?
Absolutely brilliant, will certainly be raising this in our next budget meeting for implementation. The cost savings on not having to upgrade hardware on user Laptops/PCs at intervals will certainly be a solid business case to move to this model. The management of users/devices will also be massively simplified, not to mention inherent security that this model creates. Well done !
Love this. This could really help for those who don't want to lug a computer back and forth from the office. I'd much rather use my own computer anyway!
Can't wait for this to be available to regular consumers
There will be monthly fee though.
@@Volnas97 How much?
I wonder when. I am exclusively Mac OS but sometimes have to use windows desktop for various software. Or have to use parallels which feels too slow rn even on M1. if I had access to windows 365 I would say goodbye to all windows hardware.
Apparently it’s also possible they work on offline instances of windows 365. Really good stuff
Hares, thank you for letting us know you’re interested in a consumer edition of Windows 365! While we’re focused now on business and education use cases, we’re happily collecting feedback and interest in a consumer version :)
Would be really useful!
this is a gamer's wish come true. i hope microsoft rolls out a consumer retail version.
It will be so great if this is for individuals as well! Ageing computers revitalised!
Good video, looking forward to trying this one out.
I was really skeptical of this, but after watching I could see how my company could really use this for our remote sales force. It could probably really help with network segmentation and reduce fishing attacks and ransom ware too. I’m more interested in finally being able to completely switch to Linux and run the two Windows programs that I really need that won’t run on Linux. I wonder how much the lowest spec Win365 vm will cost.
Let's just appreciate the admin taking the time to answer our questions.
Thank you. -Jeremy
@@MSFTMechanics this platform supports multiple monitors?
@@MSFTMechanics will native client based VPN clients work on this ?
@@letterspace1letterspace266 Apparently it does, and supports up to 16 monitors
This is very interesting. I would love to get my hands on it since I want to find a computer to do the heavy lifting for me while at the same time not spend a lot of money and space to do the same things for quite some time. Can’t wait!
Most of the 285 comments seem to be from Microsoft staff. But here's a real question - anytime you lose cloud connectivity or have a very slow or flaky connection such as in many hotels, what happens, or what if I need to work offline?
We're looking at options for offline support, but for the initial release on August 2, you'll need internet connectivity.
cant do much shit without internet anyway
eagerly waiting for this,i just wanna try the cloud future.
Wow, it felt last week that they announced Windows 11 and now Windows 365 is coming out. They are rolling out new versions of Windows faster than ever. By the end of the year we are gonna get Windows 1000 👌
This is amazing and so excited for the future! #Win365 #Windows #cloudpc
So excited for Windows 365!! #windows365 #cloudpc
I'm super-pumped!
This is cool & great in current internet age...
Its like corporate / office VDI machine for general public....
Can’t wait enough to use it on my ipad
August!?!! I need to try this now and see how video performs. That's been the vdi killer for too many years.
Agreed. It is 2021, yet for AVD you need to pay around 80$/month for a GPU VM that can stream a UA-cam video at 1080p without lagging. Whether or not W365 is going to be interesting for businesses is, duh, the **pricing**
Hehehe August is in 2 weeks!
This is a revolution on T.I. Amazing. The market will changes forever. TY, Microsoft.
Outstanding work. Kudos team 👏
Windows 365 is a game changer!
How so?

As a remote worker who also travels, MSFT has solved a lot of my recurring headaches!
i have been waiting for this since high school
As Jeremy said, awesome stuff!
now THIS is what we've all been waiting for. Running this on any device is a game changer.
WoW... The quality of your videos guys!!!
Dude, its the official microsoft guys. How can we expect any less?
I actually envisioned Windows 365 many years ago, but my concern was always the network. If 5G has been looking for a killer app, this is it. Also, the environmental benefits are also a major advantage, hardware will last longer because you will do everything up in the cloud. Its just that, its gonna be a long transition moving over the 5G capable devices.
Being able to run PowerBI Desktop on huge datasets on a tablet... nice!
Great demo and explanation!
It's been a long wait for something like this. This is what I imagined in 2013 when cloud was really kicking off.
Awesome! A really game changer!
been waiting so long for this, been telling people for years that ur pc will be in the cloud and ull be able to access it from anywhere, noone beleived me till now, every pc will be a thin client, so cheap that if it stops working, you just throw it away and get another, log into the cloud, and its like nothing changed
The future is now!
2:00 "Let's change nickel into gold" - I see what you did there :D
Every shiny looking object is not gold... It can be nickel also 🤣
This is FREAKING AMAZING
Imagine what you can do...
What is the limit for the cpu speed and cores?
It makes video rendering instantaneous !!
How would we need to go about setting up access to local network devices or other types of peripherals? Will it have multi-monitor support? If so, do both monitor need to be connected to the same local system or could I for instance use a desktop system for the main monitor and a laptop or even a tablet as a second, third, nth monitor?
Wow this is exciting and could be a game-changer! Great tutorial!
Can't wait for this!
OMG! This is insane. It’s like streaming Xbox Series X/S games on the OG Xbox One through GamePass Cloud
Fantastic work!
This is a really cool idea. It’s not for everyone but if you travel a lot this would be amazing. to have.
I'm not a small business but my family always ask me to fix and help upgrade their computers. So with Windows 365 this might be the solution I'm looking for because I'm always traveling because of my work. And usually home only home once a year to troubleshoot and upgrade their computers!!
Given that each cloud PC is ultimately just a VM, does anyone know if it is possible to create a snapshot so that you can roll back to a known clean state?
What are you rolling back to?
@@alfredsoyemi6425 this is common feature with hyperv VirtualBox Vmware proxmox etc. Kinda let's you take snapshot and then rollback those snapshots back in time. Very useful for power users. But for basic users maybe not so much.
@@alfredsoyemi6425 something like Backup and restore
At one point in the video they said they are working on a "Reset" option. I guess this means go back to a clean state - like when the pc was delivered to you - but with your data intact. Another guess is that your company admins will probably restrict your ability to install unmanaged software (not present in the company software catalog) on it...
Muito bom, parabéns!!!
The most amazing thing in this video is how smooth the Windows 365 machines animations run on the Surface and the iPad - Whenever I remote (even into a local device) animations are never really that smooth for some reason
Can defiantly see a few ways this would benefit us at work for certain scenarios. However, the big thing, especially regarding BYOD users would be DLP and how that works and does the amount of DLP protection you get depend on the license that you are running?
Looks amazing though and very eager to try this out on a few test users first.
Well in the Intune/MDM environment (which this is extended from in terms of security) you can already place restrictions on data movement across apps etc
What about connecting NAS drive access at local sites or is there NAS for cloud as well?
Interesting concept! What's the scenario for preventing or let's say, mitigating DDoS on the Cloud PC network? Goal: not letting users experience PC use outages in any situation. Can one have 2 Windows (cloud, and local traditional laptop) fully synchronized so that a local traditional laptop could act as an independent, up-to-date failover, if the faster Cloud PC was jammed for some reason and thus unavailable for a period of time? Is this scenario kind of built-in in Cloud PC?
@Microsoft Mechanics Will client based VPN work on this 🤔?
This is excellent. Looking forward to giving it a go. The configuration options are a great balance of ease and power. Top notch offering!
This is great! 👍🏼
Would it be possible to play steam games for example using Win Cloud?
I’m more wondering about the consumer version of Windows 365, like Microsoft 365. A home Family/personal account. Priced competitively this would be worth checking out. Especially if they add ability to have decent GPU option add ins. (Actually had this confused with Microsoft 365)
Its just like a Dream come true for all the windows users!!!!!!! Hats off MICROSOFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Does this have ingress/egress costs? E.g. if I upload a document to OneDrive from my cloud pc, does that cost extra? Or saving information to an onsite network?
Wow excellent video please bring this service to the standard consumer…..
Some really nice data here like the huge speed boost from online. Windows 365 Single + MacBook Air or iPad Pro is such a nice idea.
Do I login into Windows 365 using my Windows Live account? Wondering how I would login. Thanks
You would log in using your Microsoft 365 account and we recommend using multi-factor authentication. We demonstrate that in the video.
Can it ... stream games?
Yes, it can.
How to I test this ?? do we have any trail license for this to evaluate. Seems good product to propose to clients.
does anyone have info on how to create the custom image from a running windows 365 cloud pc, literature says to do it from azure vms, but my windows 365 machine is not present in virtual machine container
I think this is good for programming beginners who hasn't had high end pc
You don’t need high end pc to write code
@@ivanjermakov he probably meant writing code for video games. But yeah, you can write code with an Intel core 2 duo without any problem.
What about scanning into windows 365 from a local scanner? What about advanced printing features such as double sided, stapling & bypass trays? Will webcam work natively?
this is pretty lit
Wow that’s really interesting
Awesome move love it. This is the next big thing. Release Microsoft edge for Xbox. Then people will subscribe for both game pass and windows 365. waiting for this a long time. prefect for home setups.
Makes sense considering Xbox is already kbm compatible.
Great product! I have two critical questions:
1. For security purposes, how do you prevent users from taking screen shots of the Cloud PC (images and audiovisual/video) using the PrintScreen key or any application at all so businesses can be confident to deploy it?
2. Will there be a Surface Cloud" of "Surface for Cloud" (not unlike Chrome laptops) with only the Edge browser to access Cloud PC so businesses, schools, etc derive value from not having to redundantly procure a ful PC with a local/full OS only to pay for licenses to access another OS in the cloud (Cloud PC)?
Any recommendations on adding some type of Azure storage to a group of Windows365 desktops? The goal is to use Azure AD Join and no fileserver. Like a small office where everyone needs to access a shared QuickBooks company file, one of the Win365 desktops will be the admin with the QB Database Manager running and the other will just need access to the company file. So far, I have created an Azure Storage account, a share and connected to it on the Win365 desktops with PowerShell. The problem seems to be latency. Unlike our experience with AVD and a files server, the storage is too slow. Thoughts or suggestions?
Can I use local Webcam or headset??? How it works for teams meeting?
Yes it does
I am keen to see how Teams calling will work as well
How about peripherals like a GPS device on the local computer, will windows 365 recognize it?
Good question - Do you need to manually set the location on the Cloud PC, or will the Cloud PC automatically pick up your current browser-PC location.
Location probably is solved quite easily, even browsers support that. But other peripherals might be slightly more difficult case.
Will this have support for usb redirection? For example, hooking up my local printer via usb to the cloud pc.
Yes. You can connect to your Cloud PC using the Remote Desktop apps to enable lots of USB peripherals to work, printers, webcams, etc.
@@MSFTMechanics This is a game-changer. kudos y'all.
Is this the end of desktop, laptop we know of and the start of ar/vr era I can imagine using this in few months/years down the line using this from holo lence or Oculus, also will it be available in india?
We will be publishing a full list of available regions soon
This actually feels revolutionary compared to the way we currently have to setup everything (VPN, RDP, images, etc) . I wish we could try it out.
Enterprises and businesses will be able to get windows 365 starting august 2nd. We’d love for you to try our service
I bought a Chromebook and i love it, the lasting battery, android apps and is so easy to use, BUT there are a lot of disadvatages such as not being able to run major programs. Hope Windows 365 is available for the regular consumer.
Your Windows 365 Cloud PC will be accessible from all your devices - Windows, Android, iOS, and Mac. Stay turned for more offerings and use cases as the team evaluates future scenarios to support.
It's currently only available for Business users. We're looking for feedback on scenarios where home users would use it.
Can this install on m1 Mac ? Game support are in what level ?
Any multi monitor support from multiple devices? Such as a laptop and an Tablet?
Multi-monitor is supported, but you can access it from one device at a time. So, like in the demo, you could access from a Mac laptop at work, then an iPad at home for example.
How different is Cloud PC from Azure's WVD ?
Incredible
When you resize a Windows 365 VM does the disk volume automatically get expanded?
Yes, as will core count and RAM.
very nice!
Very cool!
Would love to see a consumer version of this
Same here. It can't be far from being a reality.
Apple: Welcome to the new iPad with M1 - the most powerful silicone ever that allows you to do…widgets!
Microsoft: Welcome to the new iPad with M1 - now with REAL multi-tasking and desktop-class software!!!!
If you don’t give your customers what they want, your competitors will.
To add
Microsoft: You hava a device, welcome to PC.
this announcement made my day! 😁
I spend most days on Teams video meetings. Would this run through the VM Teams or better to use a local app, eg Teams on iOS?
You can use Teams directly through the Cloud PC. Teams is optimized for video using what's called AV redirection to avoid video lag, then there is more capability in the Windows client for Teams compared to the iOS version. You would probably benefit from a trackpad or mouse in this scenario.
Can you install apps in this cloud pc?
exciting times - the thin client is finally here :)
I'm curious to see how will print to local installed printer
Yes, this is so supported from the Cloud PC.
Looks great! - does this mean I can do away with our Windows Virtual Desktop environment? I wonder what the pricing will be? Also will Teams calling with Direct routing still work on a cloud PC? Keen to give it a test :)
If you are currently using Azure Virtual Desktop (formerly WVD) and it still suits your needs and provides you excellent flexibility as it's meant to, then no need to switch! But if you're looking for ease of deployment and management, you may want to consider Windows 365. Pricing will be coming soon, stay tuned!
Wow, great technology to use.
What's the cost for this service?
Cost will be published soon.
I hope I can afford it because I'm super excited!
will solidwork support on windows 365 cloud pc
