- Heated steering wheels are just fantastic. Unfortunately, the amazing Type-S TLX in America doesn't come equipped with one! But Acura DOES offer an accessory wheel for dealer, or HOME, installation!
Marcus follows along the OEM instructions, linked below, and gives some tips and tricks along the way.

I work on my own cars, but my MDX is brand new and I got a really good deal on the non heated type s steering wheel. I just think they look cool and don't really care about the heated part even though it would be nice at times. I paid the dealership 200 to install, which I didn't think was too bad.

You can do it! The trim on the wheel is finicky but not impossible for sure.
Thanks for this video Heeltoe!! This was a huge help installing my MDX wheel. You're right, that cover was probably the hardest part. The MDX also has a more difficult control unit harness to access but I got it figured out. Great instructions!

Nice job! I am about to start this on my wife's 21 RDX (very similar to your TSX wheel). After adding one to a 20 MDX, my only suggestion is to take the wheels inside, and swap the bits at the kitchen table or a well lit desk; its much easier sitting inside than standing out in the garage...
Lol that is a good tip and without needing to move my video setup I might have done so. It was cold in the shop./

Seen your video a few times and I recently got the flat bottom grip (non-heated) for my 2021 RDX ASpec. It sure does look easy but I'm worried of braking plastic parts (tabs) etc. I'm very analytical when it comes to putting things back together but would for something to go wrong. I kinda leaning toward having the dealer do it for me. My question is, do you really need to replace the steering bolt for a new one?
I have orchid interior & the steering wheel has grey stitching. I asked the parts department & they said I need to buy the MDX wheel with grey stitching & use the wiring harness from a TLX steering wheel. They don’t have a grey stitched TLX wheel (with harness), so I’ll need to buy 2 steering wheels. 🤦🏻♂️

Did yours have blue mark in the metal and where the buttons go is the leather kinda cut like 2nd grader cut it. I’m wondering if I should return of if they are all like that.

Hi Sir ! I have a question but it's not related to the video you posted. I wonder if you can help me with. My question is regarding the navigation screen. Can you turned it off when your listening to music while not driving the car?
Great question, I don't have an answer. We never have tried to turn the screen off completely.

Is it worth upgrading your MDX for stuff they didn’t come with it will that make your value go up I know home do but do cars also get that same value
Upgrade the car to make it suit your needs and desires better. Not to raise the value. It doesn't work. It barely works on homes any more, to be honest.
Clips. I would prefer decorative fasteners in auto interiors to these hidden clips that rattle eventually. Who ever thought clips were better?

That sucks that some Type S sold in the USA come without heated steering wheel when it gets cold in most US states. My Canadian spec 2017 TLX Tech package comes with heated steering wheel not sure why it's not standard for the US market
Standard on higher models, and the MDX-S, not this gen TLX-S :/
How did you get the codes to clear?
A few seconds after I mentioned the codes I started the car and mentioned the codes cleared.
How long did it actually take to install this?
Honestly not that long, maybe 2 hours? Fiddling with the plastic bits was pretty annoying and that really was the hardest part.
Did the error code went away by itself?
Yea 3 seconds later I started the engine and the lights cleared immediately.

Yeah I really never do. But you do you, manual says to disconnect it so you should.

There is some mechanical aptitude needed but honestly, this is not a hard job as jobs go. If you aren't sure, professional installation is always an option.
It's actually unacceptable for a $55,000 vehicle to not have this feature from the go.
Not sure I would use the word "unacceptable" and base it solely on the price of the car. The design and intent of the car should demand it. The Type-S being a performance model I can see why this was not on the car from the get go. A HUD, all around camera...those are features I definitely would have expected.
@@Heeltoe. The way Acura do their packages is so odd. You can't have the HUD or 360 camera's on the TLX without going to the Advance but they make the A-Spec look so much better. It's just so stupid. Can't have everything without going PMC but then they make it ultra rare and insanely expensive. At that point the competitors make more sense - What are they thinking? - They did it with the MDX (You can go TYpe-S "Advance") - why can't they do it with the TLX? - It should of been a given at that price point. Design or Intent? The price alone should determine it. It's supposed to be a "premium sedan" (Their words, not mine) At that point you may as well just pay the little bit more and get a more premium car that's also faster. This is a deal breaker for me given how cold it is in the Winter where I live and because of the Wife. Once you've had it its hard to get into a car that doesn't have it. At $55,000 (minimum) it indeed is, unacceptable in my opinion. After watching so many videos on here about the Type-S after thinking of getting one, this is a huge disappointment.
You could also buy a T8 Volvo S60 for the same money (give or take) and absolutely blitz this car in terms of performance while also getting some EV range thanks to the hybrid as well as every available feature in a much more premium interior.
Edit: NO WIRELESS CARPLAY EITHER. I mean, come on. You can get that in a $30,000 Honda Civic.

@@Michael_M991 I hear you on all fronts and on many levels agree. onda fans have been dealing with this for ages. The true enthusiast option/equipment/color combos never seem to be readily available. They put a ton of development into powertrain and platform development, and then kinda skimp on options and features. No ability ro special order a car with items or without, like you can with European models. It seems a little unfair to lock us into packages with no customizability. That said, I don't buy a car or the gadgets. I buy it for the looks, the drive, and the reliability. The car does all that well. 9/10 times I am just listing to the AM/FM don't gaf about hud, and only really care about the all-around camera when parking which, tbo, it does need because this b* is big. Plus, I am a Honda-Acura loyalist. "I could get a _____ for that" is not really a consideration for me, period.
