Here in Alabama it comes in waves. Late winter I see certain deer go more for corn for carbs and fat. Does who are already pregnant go more for protein. Then around the time antlers drop until antler hardening I see almost all deer go for protein over corn. We had a bumper crop of acorns this year.
Have you tried cattle cubes? I get so many blue jays and racoons eating the corn, it goes pretty fast so i heard of trying these cattle cubes which has 20% protein in it and the deer really like it.
I live in a neighborhood and feed not only birds and squirrels but deer infact last year i looked out and seven deer in the yard. I used a trail cam and what amazed me was the deer didn't like loose corn but preferred it on the cob. as for the peanuts in the shell the deer tore them up.
Here a good content idea. Apples v Pears. The bucks around my house chase off the does from the pear tree pushing them over to the apple trees. As soon as the bucks leave the does move to the pears. Deer I believe have a sweet tooth
I wonder if the deer, particularly the bucks, prefer the corn because the fat content, thus the energy it produces. They are not in velvet so they are needing to store up energy for the soon coming rut. Personally, I think corn is candy for deer where as oats and peanuts are the veggies.
You’re probably right. I’m surprised how they just browse and aren’t protective over a food source. I guess im used to cattle shoving and fighting and eating until it’s all gone.
Try switching the signs!
Why because the animals can read
why deer can read you know
Those were some very nice bucks several of em. They definitely don’t seem to be under much if any hunting pressure
Interesting results. Good data. Thank you all. Well done.
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment
What if you reverse the signs?
Ha ha.

Gonna guess the peanuts! Looks like some grain germinated too! Nice!
I would’ve bet money on peanuts too.
Great job gentlemen!
Thanks for watching!

We’ve never tried cubes. I wouldn’t see why they wouldn’t like them. Cattle are addicted to them.
Always love these videos
Thanks.
Maybe they are more corn around and used to it. Grown in the area a lot.
There’s pretty much only wheat around us in western Oklahoma.
For the next experiment, give me your address and leave a plate of cooked pork chops and another of ribeyes, and let's see what one I eat 1st 😁
😂😂 how about calf fries and scone chicken gizzards
This is a good dad
Very Educational !
Thanks for watching!

That’s interesting about the Cobb vs loose corn.
Try wheat and corn , a outfitter in Oklahoma called wheat deer candy Mmmmm
What are you putting those piles out for?
Deer
@@BooneBoys I thought you guys were hunters. Instead, you're baiters.
Nice family environment

You all need too try yellow crab apples do thy work
Why is the wheat thicker where the acorns were?
Apples work great for deer !
We need to try them. There were a lot of apples this year on our trees but it went to apple sauce. Next year we will try and save some back.
Maybe next year we can see how they might respond to different kinds of grains: oats, wheat, barley etc versus corn.
Absolutely. I’m really wanting to do rice bran.
Only question… why not different locations..
That requires another cam and some vid editing skills. That is my guess. Great video guys!

I think that would be a good observation. From what I’ve seen corn is king.
@@BooneBoys
I'm betting on the peanuts. Deer love peanuts
I thought so too.
corn is more abundant in the area and that's why deer go for corn !!
The bucks want yall to shell the peanuts
Try whole ears of corn,to see the deer paw the corn off the cobs
Wrong, those are roundup ready peanuts. Sprayed heavily
Why do I think you feed more corn on your farm . This is the first time deer have seen peanuts .
Corn
Should try roasted soy beans
I would like to see soy bean vs corn test!
@@CherokeeJackson I'd also like to see that
Stake down a salt block and see what comes in
NEED A SQUIRREL AS A CONTROL
Try sweet potato
Corn is king normally.
Seems that way around us anyways.
Shelled peanuts might make a difference. Bucks are lazy.
These peanuts were shelled.
They are shelled peanuts
If you put these in the big woods ?! Deer probably wouldn't eat ether one ! They never had ether and don't know what they are !

Lol. You have got to be kidding. You are definitely from the big city. 😊
