    Love the long form tutorial. You were asking where they got that weird number in the aspect ratio of 1.7777778. That is actually representing 16:9, if you divide 16 by 9 you get 1.77777778. I suspect if you leave the aspect ratio set to that weird number it will solve the issue of the video not ending in the right spot when you choose a funky angle. Great episode, keep up the good work.

    I didn't have time to play along today, but just watching, I wonder if leaving the aspect ratio "correct" instead of one, would make the non-orthogonal angles stop in the correct position. It may mean you'd have to leave that part exposed in the macro too if you use it on media with different aspects. But it's all just theory since I didn't actually have time to play today.

    10/10, Really good tutorial that's opened up a new thing for me to explore in my novice entrance into video editing.
    4/360 However for the pretty big problem with this transition. As you highlighted in your video, if the angle of the transition is anything but 0/90/180/270°, the end image is off center. so far I can't find a work around that ensures that the end of the transition always lands the final image in the center from any given angle... Any ideas?

    Amazingly informative mate, I have a much better understanding of animcurves!. I was able to follow along exactly until the creating a macro part when I ran into 2 snags.
    1. When adding the saved macro to the effect library, I was unable to simply drag and drop on Mac. I got around this by right clicking the word "transitions" > show folder, then drag it dropped it in there.
    but unfortunately the 2nd snag is the transition I made just blacks out the video track for its duration instead of doing any kind of transition. All the controls are visible on the edit page but none of them do anything to make the video track visible.
    If I ctrl+drag the original (non-macro) one to dupe it on a different edit point it works completely fine, so I'm not sure where I went wrong. Restarted resolve, tried reinstalling the macro but no luck.
    EDIT: I figured out the problem! Make sure you don't skip the step of degrouping the dissolve node! I don't mind dealing with node groups so I just left it but apparently that breaks the whole macro!
    tl;dr just follow instructions better than I do and you'll be fine lol

    • @MrAlexTech
      @MrAlexTech  2 роки тому +1

      Huh that's weird, should work same on Mac! I'll test on my Macbook and report back just to make sure there's nothing weird going on.

  • @linegrinder

    Can you also add an audio to that custom transition. I'm using a lot of of the standard slide video transition effect on my videos, but then I need to go over and manually add a "swoosh" sound effect to each transition. Is there a way for me to add the swoosh sound effect to a custom transition so that I won't have to add video transition and then also an audio effect with that transition?
