Great informative video. I have been using the fire plugs with good sucess, but I will have to give these a try! You will have to try the "SPARK" on this rod! The plugs may have had a smaller flame because the two pcs were seperated a bit and the pink ones were tight together, kinda like two logs keeping each other warm!
I ordered a nice bunch of their plugs and three round tins to store them in from Bigfoot Bushcraft. Can't wait to try them out, they even say that the plugs have a pleasant odor to them. Hum
I make my own fire plug. The recipe is stupidly simple (This is my recipe ratio's: dental cotton. 70% wax & 30% oil). They have to be "cooked" for best performance (My guess is that the moisture in the cotton is boiled out). The home made fire plugs work great, but I have not tested them as much as I want. I want to get my hands on some cotton rope so I can try my hand at Fatrope. They are not wind proof or water proof. They are wind and water resistant. They are resistant against wind after they are burning for I'm guessing 30 seconds, and they are water sealed until the fibers are exposed.
Very interesting Dan! I will get some of the Bigfoot Bushcraft fire plugs to add to my kits!! Addendum: Went to their website prices are reasonable and they have a youtube page.
Nice test. Hard to find good man made fire tinder’s where I live 🇨🇦, & some of the prices to order them ... let’s just say they can keep them. Tinder Quik I can find local & they may not be the best but they keep well, no leaching of chemicals or wax & they don’t dry out. I rarely use them anyway so I’m more interested in how they last. Throw a couple of those in a paper bag or envelope & leave them on the dashboard of your truck for a month or two & see if they leach anything or dry out.
I had some of the orange ones in a baggie since last year. Still worked same, and nothing seemed to leach out. Will see what happens with the new ones.

Ben learning so much from these videos, awesome content !
Thanks for the info. I'm putting a survival kit together.
Awesome! I have several videos on survival kits. Hope they are of help.
I really like pro camp tech, now I'm definitely going to try the Bigfoot fire plugs.
Just to be sure, I did the test two more times off camera to see if there was a change. Results were the same each time.
@@ochocobushcraft1742 I'm really interested in the Bigfoot plugs.

I don't remember any specific odor. Now I am curious. I will pay closer attention on my next fire.
Jumping on Bigfoot’s website now to order some of these. Smart people to send you some products to test!
They were very nice to work with, and I enjoyed doing this test. Hoping I have opportunities to do more comparisons of gear in the future.
Nice! Maybe try the Exotac quickLIGHT tinder next? Exotac makes solid products
