Question : on my 2009 the motor mount is odd as it too has the position sensor mounted on same flange as the shift motor. I think only the Foreman 2009 has this odd arrangement trx500fpe. Any way I see three large bolts holding the entire mess onto the trans case. My question is, if I gut the various small motor gears and re attach everything to keep dirt out do I have to reconnect the motor wiring ? And will the dash show the gears when manually operated ?
@@TigerCreekFarm question: what does the angle sensor do ? Does it assess the angle of the bike for safety, and shut off trans when flipped ? Or does the angle sensor assess what gear your in ?
I had my shift motor on and I couldn’t shift past 1st is this because of the shift motor? I have the shift motor off now going to replace because mine wouldn’t function. Any ideas? I’m chasin gremlins
There are so many things it can be. One part that can give you fits is the angle indicator(?) It lets the shift motor know where it is. You could also have a bad wire. You need to find a shop manual and go step by step to find the real problem. I got tired of chasing the continual problems and went manual shift.
I have a foreman 500 2013 and the electric shift won’t do anything won’t click or nothing and on the emergency shaft it won’t let me go into reverse so I’m stuck on what to do
My .02 cents. Make sure the reverse button is being fully pushed when trying to shift into reverse Check the cable switch and the cable itself Check the battery charge (lot of ES shift problems are because of low battery) Check the engine oil level Check (replace) the angle sensor
Love your videos brother! Have you got any advice on how to get or what to check when my foreman 500 won’t shift into reverse? (I too have es model). Thank you for your videos
@@TigerCreekFarm Awesome! Super helpful. I'm still trying to find a dealer that will look at the ESP to see if I can get it to work, but have been struggling to do so. I appreciate the vids and your response.
Hershel Thrasher no - but I had to develop a bit of a feel and method for shifting. If you are heavy handed or footed it would be easy to put undue stress on the gears. I shift with a hand lever and use quick, short strokes that give me trouble free shifting without any extra force.

if you do away with the es/shifting motor guts when you use the foot or hand selector does your gear shift numbers flash on the display?
Yep

I can’t speak to the 2009 but the 2000 shift motor can be gutted and reattached and connected and will show the gears.
@@TigerCreekFarm Many thanks !

I believe the angle sensor assesses what gear you are in.
@@TigerCreekFarm Thanks, I might try and get sensor off through that plastic cover and hope new sensor fixes sticking downshifts; upshits no issue.

Not sure. Make sure the hand brake is engaging enough to allow it to go into reverse.
When you put it together did you reconnect the wires?
Yes. Keeps them in place, clean and allows the gear indicator to work.
Yes. Keeps water and mud out, and lets you know where you at gear wise
Where do you get the lever for the manual shifting?
I made it - ua-cam.com/video/o2UHK4gRUuw/v-deo.html

Have you had any problems after making it a manual shift? Ive heard of people breaking internals by doing this

I don’t know but my impression is that I don’t see why not.
