Going to be great memories with your dad. Wish I had some with mine. my dad died a few years back years at 59 years miss him lots. Hope you have yours for a long time to come though.
I absolutely love your channel - and your dad's channel too. You and your dad are just the most amazing team - the most amazing father and son - I've ever seen. It's the number one thing I love about your videos. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love all of your builds, but your spending time together is what it's all about. And the getting outdoors. My favorite thing about this cabin is that it's not only functional, but can actually be lived in year round. I also love the homey additions, such as the fence. :) Many blessings to you both. Thanks for sharing with us.
The best part for me is the fact you've relocated this cabin and it's still in use. The pallet cabin was what brought me to your chanel and I'm now an avid follower. I love all your vids and you've even inspired me to do a little bushcraft myself.. nice throwback. 😉

Yes @sonnyburnett. Didn't notice till I read your comment. I was enjoying the sound of the tools and wood against each other and the the earth, against the background and silence of the woods. Real work has a rhythm and music if it's own.

The best time I ever spent with my dad was when we moved my parent's furniture cross-country. My mother flew to Vegas to meet us...we rented a big truck and trailer. We talked about everything for the entire trip....it was the only time I was that close to my dad. He's gone now, but I'll always remember that trip.

All my dad did was yell at me, told me I was worthless and made me look bad in front of people. I do envy those that have a father and that father does things with their son or daughter.
Just be a good father/parent to your sons and daughters. What you don't feel when you are now or back then make it better with your kids have a nice time over simple things and make your heart light and just cry and say to your self I am feeling it now to have a happy and quality time with my own family. Make them happy work hard.

This video hit me so hard in the feels man. Before my Father passed a few years back we hadn’t spoke for a while after a bit of a fall out. I always expected we would make peace as we always did but one day I got a call to say he had suddenly passed. I’d give anything to spend just 5 minutes alone time with him again, and now live with a lot of regret. For anyone that might not appreciate their parents as much as they should my advice to you is to cherish them while you have the chance, because they won’t always be around and it’s easy to take for granted that they will be. If you can’t spend time with them because life gets in the way then don’t be ashamed to tell them how much you love them. Believe me, if you don’t you’ll too regret this one day. Stay safe all!
I hope someone reads that and reaches out to their parent's, you only get one set of parents and life is too short to hold grudges and live to regret for the rest of your life, like someone commented, I believe and hope that we'll meet them again when the time comes...
True talk... i also lost my mom, and live with regrets is really the worst thing, because it will last until we die. Be sure not to live with any regrets in your life everybody !

Yep made me want it almost right away then they threw in the hot water accessories and I was sold I'm looking it up right now lol... well after this post I mean.
Watched this video while having my dinner. True craftsmanship displayed amongest the elderly man and the young master.. What got me was the end of the video. Father and Son spending time. God bless you guys for doing this and setting an example.
Yeah... me and my dad sound nothing like this when we work together 😂😂😂 usually there is a “would you shut the fu** up” or a “if you hit my hand with that hammer I’ll kill you, you son of a bi***” ahhhh good times.
Watching this made me choke up a few times, because I recently lost my father, and I will always cherish all the projects we did together outside to rebuild our house. And it brought back alot of loving memories, especially seeing your old man working the exact same way my dad use to. This is one perfect video, I'm happy I came across this 👍 . Makes me wanna go and build something outside again by myself. With all the teachings my father had left me. Thanks for this video!🙂
Sorry for your loss. My father passed away on the 19th, 2012. I was only 13 so I missed out on a lot more things like this in the video, but at least have some good memories.
When I first started watching this I never thought I'd be crying at the end, but that last part got me good. The older man's hands reminded me so much of my late father, I wish I would have spent more time with him. I absolutely took him for granted....anyway thank you for the awesome video!
Thank you so much for this type of content, my father is a stock broker and never has done this type of work, while I’ve always made stuff out of whatever’s around. Y’all’s videos teach things I never had a chance to learn, and inspire others to build cheaply and relatively easily.
@@stvksn i build houses for a living, very skilled with a hammer but it still happens, even to my boss whos done it 20 years lol sometimes the hammer slips off the nail or something but we usually use nailers so it doesnt happen very often
I think this was a wonderful experience for a Father and Son.Cabin is adorable, functional and shows what can be done with good ideas and common sense. Great Outcome!!
I greatly enjoy y’all’s lack of discussion in the videos. I understand the need for conversation, but it focuses the view on the work when this type of recording is done. Thanks. I appreciate that y’all do this correctly. Also thanks for showing the real work.
I enjoyed watching this video, no endless talking, and no annoying music. Thats a great way to spend some quality time together. Thank you for uploading this for us to enjoy!
Great. About 35 years ago my Dad wanted to build a small shed on his allotment. I told him about a glass business that chucked out 8ft by 4ft packing cases of quality pine. We dismantled some and he built the shed, even straightening out the old nails and reusing.
Best video I ever saw wish, I had sucha handyman skills. I could live all the time in the woods away from city. Peaceful video without any stupid background music.
It isn’t hard or expensive to get started. If you can find a space maybe 10’ by 10’ to work in, buy an inexpensive hammer, handsaw and pry-bar (can find second-hand at Habitat for Humanity stores or pawn shops). Watch a couple UA-cam videos on how to disassemble pallets. Break down a pallet or two and build something. Your first effort won’t be perfect. So build a second something. I’m doing this now, and it’s surprising how quickly you attain skill. Now, living in the woods is rather more complicated to get going, but it’s very satisfying to make things. Try it out!
Agree on not having background music. When building with pallets you are starting at imperfection, so just make something. If you enjoy the experience, you are successful. I will definitely be doing this for a cabin until I have the cash to build my off grid tiny house on the land I bought. Just need to start making pallet runs.
Using bent, rusty, recycled nails reminds me of when I built "forts" with friends as a kid. We made do with what we had, and sometimes that even meant driving nails with a rock. It worked.
Kids have no clue the fun we had as kids building forts. My old man would always be looking for his nails and stuff that we scarfed up for forts in the woods
No punk like hard work, perseverance, and accomplishment. I’m shocked you you used “pretentious”in the right context based on your arrogance.... shoot, just seen you had to edit your comment. I’m sorry you stupidity must have got you too excited when typing. STFU. 😆
thanks fellas for making us feel at home. when i was a kid we always built hang outs every where, takes me back to a worry free time....... peace and love, keep rolling!!!!
When I was a boy(long ago) we took jobs tearing down old buildings at times. We salvaged everything we could. Straightening bent nails meant smashed fingers for me as a boy. Poor boys have poor boy ways. That and the fact that today most of us are down right wasteful. A buddy and I built a small building similar to this with a chainsaw as our main cutting tool. Lots of great knowledge here. Thanks for the video and memories guys! Keep'em coming!
This is seriously amazing I was expecting a guided talk through but as someone who lives offgrid an In nature I respect the silent build and just been in the moment. Here in new Zealand pallets are usually left to who ever wants them and I've been trying to find ways to male more use out of such a free resource. You seriously gave me some amazing ideas on how to make my camp more comfortable and enjoyable thank you..
Ingenious and inspiring build! I can't remember the last time I watched 30 minutes of video without that goofy electronic music littering the background... My ears thank you.
So happy to see your message at the end. I started to watch this video to learn the basics of the framing. I immediately thought of my father who was a carpenter & all the things he taught me in our short time together. Couldn’t help but tear up- happy for this beautiful father son project- but also for sad for the father daughter project that never happened. I am 52 now, and he has been gone 30 years. I am very inspired to do this type of project knowing he would be with me in spirit. Thank you for this great video. I absolutely loved it
As a fellow mountain man I spent the whole video noticing how this thing is going to rot and be worthless. Then I read the end message and it all clicked. Great work gents. Keep those hand tool traditions alive.
Not sitting directly on the ground with no moisture barrier. But it depends on your climate too. If you get snow or lots of rain it’ll last less than a year.

Watched this video while having my dinner. True craftsmanship displayed amongest the elderly man and the young master.. What got me was the end of the video. Father and Son spending time. God bless you guys for doing this and setting an example.
What did you have for dinner?

Bread for sure and probably meatloaf, as it appeared to be in foil
All things considered. I just enjoy how well they work together.
Outstanding. No talking. No music. Perfect content
This is like the ULTIMATE video to put on in your headphones and fall asleep to. My word its such a relaxing sound hearing people work like this..
💯💯
Fall asleep to??? Uh not really, but awesome video. 👍🏿
You nuts?
Typically, when people hear things they're completely unfamiliar with like the use of tools or manual labor, they find it relaxing.
Yeah... me and my dad sound nothing like this when we work together 😂😂😂 usually there is a “would you shut the fu** up” or a “if you hit my hand with that hammer I’ll kill you, you son of a bi***” ahhhh good times.
All that bent nail straightening reminds me of my childhood. No talking, no music....the silence is perfection....👍
I come back to this video every now and again to relax. It's so very relaxing.
I feel for you....lost my Dad 1 yr now....
God bless you
The first thing the old man taught me was how to rehash nails..... somewhere along the line I became the old man. rest in peace papa❤️

shelley Ferrara thanks for the reminder!!!
Thank you so much for this type of content, my father is a stock broker and never has done this type of work, while I’ve always made stuff out of whatever’s around. Y’all’s videos teach things I never had a chance to learn, and inspire others to build cheaply and relatively easily.
What's more impressive, is all of that hammering and no smashed fingers.
It's really not that hard to not smash your fingers
@@_JaCrispy_ for real how often are people smashing fingers with hammers. It's so simple.
There was smashed fingers
@@stvksn i build houses for a living, very skilled with a hammer but it still happens, even to my boss whos done it 20 years lol sometimes the hammer slips off the nail or something but we usually use nailers so it doesnt happen very often

Thought the same, and I watched it all xD I even clicked the viking house suggestion
I think this just shows the parts when they aren’t talking from a whole days recording but they talk otherwise
I enjoyed watching this video, no endless talking, and no annoying music. Thats a great way to spend some quality time together.

Great. About 35 years ago my Dad wanted to build a small shed on his allotment. I told him about a glass business that chucked out 8ft by 4ft packing cases of quality pine. We dismantled some and he built the shed, even straightening out the old nails and reusing.
We just not gonna talk about how smooth that rope thing was at the beginning
Best video I ever saw wish, I had sucha handyman skills. I could live all the time in the woods away from city. Peaceful video without any stupid background music.
True
Try it out!
@@JamesAnderson-dp1dt Yep was about respond anyone can build this just go out there and do it you know
Agree on not having background music. When building with pallets you are starting at imperfection, so just make something. If you enjoy the experience, you are successful. I will definitely be doing this for a cabin until I have the cash to build my off grid tiny house on the land I bought. Just need to start making pallet runs.
Big Ounce you can always start learning!
They've said much in silence and spoke clearly with results. Excellent
I totally agree. The silence is the main reason I was able to watch this video from start to finish.
they probably spoke when the cameras were off

Plot twist: they killed the Mom and are fleeing prosecution.
Using bent, rusty, recycled nails reminds me of when I built "forts" with friends as a kid. We made do with what we had, and sometimes that even meant driving nails with a rock. It worked.
Damn, I miss those days
That sounds awsome. What kind of fort was it like?
@@crackpotpolitics5986 Of very dubious structural integrity. We had fun though.

As a fellow mountain man I spent the whole video noticing how this thing is going to rot and be worthless. Then I read the end message and it all clicked. Great work gents. Keep those hand tool traditions alive.
How can you stop it rotting
Not sitting directly on the ground with no moisture barrier. But it depends on your climate too. If you get snow or lots of rain it’ll last less than a year.
@@gamesdisk just keep it off the ground on some cinder blocks and it’ll last longer.
@@gamesdisk probably some spray treatment on the wood. And elevate it with bricks or cinder blocks like someone said.
I'd also put a plastic moisture barrier underneath and paint the outside of it
