I’ve seen tommy jam with so many people that have their own specialty like blues, jazz, gypsy, and he always holds his own and sometimes outplays these people in their own style. It’s why he is truly the master.
I meant Tommy in Lakeview Arkansas. He showed me how to get locked out of your own show. He ran to his bus and he couldn't get back into the show through the side door. He had to go through the big line in front :-). Awesome show also. He played for 3 hours straight. Only 16 bucks to see him back then
I meet Tommy twice but 40 years ago in Australia , 1st playing at a pub during the afternoon & was free ,, 2nd in a country town and was free for me as I knew the singer ,,, Tommy is just a great guy & as we all know a terrific guitar player .
Before Rory and Jeff there was Thumbs Carlisle playing guitar laying it on his lap. He was quite good. Played with Roger Miller and others. Jack Pearson here on the left is a former member of the Allman Brothers Band, and a master at his craft.
That was amazing playing from all three guys there. Rory Hoffman - What an achievement from some one who does it all by feel and intuition. Tommy Emmanuel - is there anything he plays where he does not look like a natural. He plays this style like it's his main thing, like he is top of this genre....but it is just another style he can play to the highest level. Just amazing.
Don't try and be someone that your not, and you won't feel like smashing your guitars.... Just love it for what it is, and know that the feeling of inspiration inside yourself is something you CAN use... It's INSIDE of you... now let it come out!
At a Muriel Anderson All Star Guitar Night in Los Angeles many many years ago I first got to hear Jim Nichols, Martin Taylor and Richard Smith play each in their own set. It was great!
There are some really great guitarists out there, many of whom might get the exposure, but Tommy brings them together performs with them . He is the best however and that is saying something!
In terms of learning the song on the fly: chord progressions and changes are fairly straight forward. Back in the days they were using fairly similar turn arounds and patterns. But never the less: I could NOT do it and of course it shows his master class. But even more than his musical talent and abilities I am always stunned by his positive attitude and the joy he is bringing to the table!
Shouldn't this video be called like "Blind Genius Plays Absolutely Flawlessly"? Why does the focus have to be on Emmanuel? Sure he is a guitar god but in this video clearly the other man is the outshine here.
I would disagree. I wont get into the pointless semantics of debating who is the best, as each of them have extremely great styles and polished techniques, but are from entirely different backgrounds. You can see it in their meathod and hear it in the sound. But to play devils advocate and embrace hypocrisy, the bling guys lapsteel style of easily the most limiting, in terms of using the guitars total versatility. Perhaps, im dead wrong, because this is my first introduction to him, but he would probably have a tough time w complex jazz progressions. That said, who cares, its all so fucking good!
@Have_At_IT, Yeah, great point haha [sarcasm]. What? Tommy is virtually unknown other than to people who follow the guitarist genre of music. Apparently, you have some misplaced anger and the mentality of a cheeseburger. What, is Tommy your ex boyfriend or something?
Thats how i played my first guitar same with the blind man. The reason for this was because im very small when i was a kid and im having a hard time playing the guitar because its not proportion with my body. Good tting i learned to play the piano first.
Is the other way around.. What's with your generation? Sense is history man. Things in their respective order. This is fucking Django Reinthard's song. He invented his own type of Jazz. Not so cute kids movie.
Zane McWhorter It’s gypsy jazz. Check out the original gypsy jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt from the 1930s and 1940s. Most every jazz guitarist will name him as an influence. Then check out The Rosenberg Trio, Joshco Stephan or Frank Vignola for more contemporary versions.
For what ever it’s worth, I can confidently say these guys are three of the greatest to EVER touch the strings.
Dude playing lap style is fantastic
That's Rory Hoffman, and he is indeed.
Great to see three of the world’s best musicians - Jack Pearson, Tommy Emmanuel and Rory Hoffman - on stage at one time. A night to remember for sure!
2:28 - wow - the look on Tommy's face when the lead player ran up the fret board and back down....priceless. Tommy Approved lick!
I’ve seen tommy jam with so many people that have their own specialty like blues, jazz, gypsy, and he always holds his own and sometimes outplays these people in their own style. It’s why he is truly the master.
I love Rory Hoffman . He''s crazy good.❤
Everything improvised on the spot. No one misses a note at blistering speeds. Anyone jumps in and does their thing. Unbelievable.
I met Tommy and he taught me how to carry twice my body weight up a tree just by being humble!
Best Audio I met Tommy as well and he taught me how to take a bear down only using your thumb
I met Tommy and I challenged him to a thumb war.
Now I cant hitchhike.

These replies are crazy...Love them, but feel like ....not sure...AHhaha

what a groove.......i could listen to this "shuffle-low" forever.

I love to hear all 3 of those wonderful musicians!
simply amazing display of musicality, improvisation, technical prowess ... WOW
I was fortunate enough to see Tommy in concert.
All I can is...WOW!!!
Excuse me while I go to the corner of the room and sulk as think of how I suck even more on guitar. Thank you gentlemen. Just amazing musicians.🎸👍
Tommy..and the rest of the incredible musicans...Dammed great
Tommy's always so animated , gotta love him .
Very little mention about Jack Pearson here. A great player too.
Rory Hoffman!
He is just ridiculous.
💥🎸💥
Jack always blows my mind
All 3 played beautifully together
Music has the ability to move people, well all but 9, apparently, who watched this vid. Thank you for sharing this, it made me very happy.
A new discovery, and what a discovery it is...Mr. Rory Hoffman. Unbelievable.
Jack Pearson, Tommy Emmanuel and Rory Hoffman
That left leg still going...
...and going
And always will, even after his death XD Tommy is a living GOD
There are some really great guitarists out there, many of whom might get the exposure, but Tommy brings them together performs with them . He is the best however and that is saying something!
Some ppl play incredibly, have serious skills, and insane natural talent, then some have that WOW factor. Tommy Emmanuel is both of those kinda ppl!
Jack always looooks soooo relaaaaxxxxed.
they make it look so effortless
but, can they play Smoke on the Water!
Ha!
yeah, just what i was thinking! lol
There's always one..
“PLAY FREEBIRD!!”
💐💐💐💐💐💐🎸🎼🕊️ молодцы!!!!
🌈🎸🎼 Спасибо огромное за музыку!!!
Приезжайте в Улан-Удэ Байкал рядом с нами 🌈🎸🎼
Love some Django
Is not django
Wow simply outstanding. :)
I love some Tommy Emmanuel and the other guitarist is so good, but holy smokes, the guy on the lap guitar. Amazing - all three.
In case you want the song, "I've Found a New Baby"
No it’s “There’s No G Minor...” 😝
Simply beautiful such happiness in their playing love it. Thank you for uploading this, hope to see them do this in New York some time.
AMAZING! AMAZING!:AMAZING!
Pure joy!

The title of this vid is a bit misleading, it's a somewhat common tune that Tommy would very likely have known.
didn't you see Emmanuel start soloing in this video? I think he was improvising homies.
Blind man stole the show, great talent!
Incredibly great............just wow!!
it's crazy. I don't have a category. amazing!
I love this shit.
Wow I cant believe there are still guitarists that play like Jeff Healey. Also what can I say about Jack Pearson and Tommy Emmanuel
singer-songwriter Island Mountain Pat loves it :-)
Wow!!!! I never thought I would see the day that Tommy Emmanuel was reduced to being a rhythm guitarist!
Even on a song he's essentially sight reading, its only by choice because under the superb guitar player is the soul of a true musician
Rhythm is basically all he did when he played with his brother Phil
@@66tas95 yes, he will be the first to tell you that he was Phil's rhythm guitarist. Amazing to think that Phil was that good!
Which 16 soulless people disliked this? Incredibly done!
talented people come in all shapes and sizes. .
In my next life, I want to play like that!
Outrageous 😮
Pure joy to behold.....
Superb....
didn't know one stage could handle so much talent
Dude on the hollow body is a genius!
Jack Pearson. Truly amazing player.
One day I’ll be that good
Me too...in my next life
Off the chain , a night to remember !
Awesome. Love this
just gotta love it

I agree
@Have_At_IT,
Yeah, great point haha [sarcasm]. What? Tommy is virtually unknown other than to people who follow the guitarist genre of music.
Apparently, you have some misplaced anger and the mentality of a cheeseburger. What, is Tommy your ex boyfriend or something?
What a stupid statement---can't you just sit back and enjoy this incredible performance without pushing your fucking opinion? David Macdonald
It's amazing how Tommy can use that thumbpick just like a flatpick.
Django! I have heard Tommy jam to this before.
True artists
Mind-blowing!
Tommy in Django style!!!!
Amazing
The soloist tho thats amazing ,i have never seen anyone play a guitar like that without a slide
I know right and the fact he's blind just makes it so much more incredible
Hes the Stevie Wonder of guitarists
Bloody brilliant 🤘🏆
How do you get to Carnegie Hall?
Practice.
Great old jazz standRd
I'm smiling now!
Masters

So Jango Reinhadrt....nice!
That casino freakin bwautiful
Lol. Fast learner alright. Awesome. All 3
I love Tommy's playing, but sometimes he looks like Speedy Gonzalos on meth. The bloke's got more movements that a Swiss watch!
Some legends say that tommy still stomps his left leg.
Sounds like the monsters inc song😂😂😂😂
Is the other way around.. What's with your generation? Sense is history man. Things in their respective order. This is fucking Django Reinthard's song. He invented his own type of Jazz. Not so cute kids movie.
JoseitoEdlVodao well.. the Monster Inc is highly influenced by Django
Sounds like loud house background music
Id have no clue what you were talking about, but im a new dad haha.
Rory is the most amazing musician I've ever witnessed, plays numerous instruments with equal proficiency... guess he took lessons in braille.
I suppose being blind would enable you to focus on your music without the distractions of naked women running around in your personal space.
@@Mangsaab1954 I have no idea where that fits in to anything but I lol'd so hard when I read it 🤣😂
Wow he's blind. I mean I have seen Jose Feliciano just not on a weissenborn Guitar
that's not a weissenborn guitar either. It is a jazz archtop
And jut to make a little more mind blowing......left handed!
That was cool
Maravilha!👏
The power of scale
Anyone know the make on that oval-hole archtop in the back?
Da! Awsome!
Can anyone tell me what gere this music is? I know its jazz but what kind.
Thank you
Yeah, I love his version of I'll see you in my dreams
Woww.!
But can they play "wonderwall"
No flies on Tommy
X el ent. Love tommy.
Holy crap whose the guy on the right!??
on the right as you face the screen is Rory Hoffman. On stage right is Jack Pearson.
wow
Remember Jeff Healey?
2 of the best shows I've ever seen. What a shame he's gone.
Bad ass..if you really play guitar and love music.
Is there a reason why he is playing the guitar on his lap??
Rory was born blind and taught himself to play guitar in whatever manner he could figure out on his own. He did pretty good at it, didn't he.
@@ronwade117 thank you. That is amazing. Another person that will inspire many generations.
That guy had the same guitar teacher as jimi Hendrix 🙃
And The blind man wins by a mile.
Somewhere, Django Reinhardt is smiling...
jeff healey?
There is a reason why Tommy is considered the best acoustical player in the world.
