I had a big tarantula named tinkerbell. She was the baby of my friends tarantulas who mated and she was freakishly big somehow. Not too much smaller than this one. She use to just chill on me while I played xbox. One time, I fell asleep while she was on my chest and I woke up a couple hours later and she was cuddled up on my neck sleeping. She was a very smart tarantula and she really knew who I was. She wouldn't let no one pick her up but me and she would walk to me. So whoever says They are stopid, They are not

To be perfectly, really, very honest with you lot, dogs are more dangerous and more deadly than spiders by far, and yeah people can start chatting shit about how fear of spiders is just irrational, when the brain sees a spider, no matter the size of it, for as long as you have a functioning amygdala, chances are, you will always get scared, or you will at least flinch if the spider scuttles away or towards you, or bites you lol. A dog would send tour heart rate increasing even more so, it's just a physical sensation, fired from the the amygdala or inside the brain itself, nothing too extreme lol
@ It's also a lot more annoying to take care of compared to a tarantula, they require much less attention than a dog and just need to be fed to live happy in general.

To share my own thoughts, I am deadly afraid of tarantulas. Not all spiders....just tarantulas. They just look evil to me...like they are up to no good lol. My son begged me to let him have a rose-haired tarantula when he was 14...I finally gave in, demanding that he keep the terrarium in HIS room with the door always shut and a small brick on the top screen to keep it from getting out. I came home early from work one day, peeked in, the top was askew and the tarantula was nowhere to be found. I was PARALYZED with fear, not knowing where I might find it. I glanced around the room and noticed that it had crawled up the wall and had formed a cocoon in the upper corner of his ceiling. One of the creepiest things I've ever seen. I demanded that it leave the house and my son kept it at his friend's house down the street. Never did it ever come back through my door. I don't want to kill them...but, I do NOT want them around me out of a glass terrarium. Nope.
It's very impressive to see how gently people can interact with spiders, even huge ones like Zilla when most people are terrified of them. Myself included DX Still, despite the fear, you can't help but be fascinated by them.

Tarantulas seem dumb because they mostly respond to touch - not speech or visual cues which are the things we recognize the most readily. They really aren't dumb though - my rose hair will sit inside her bowl if it becomes empty to let me know she's thirsty, and if i annoy her by removing her shelter too much, she will web it down. Also, she clearly recognizes what is and isn't food because she won't try jumping any foreign object which isn't a cricket. I think all of these things require more brain power than a vegetable lol though a deaf animal clearly doesn't hear baby talk lol

To share my own thoughts, I am deadly afraid of tarantulas. Not all spiders....just tarantulas. They just look evil to me...like they are up to no good lol. My son begged me to let him have a rose-haired tarantula when he was 14...I finally gave in, demanding that he keep the terrarium in HIS room with the door always shut and a small brick on the top screen to keep it from getting out. I came home early from work one day, peeked in, the top was askew and the tarantula was nowhere to be found. I was PARALYZED with fear, not knowing where I might find it. I glanced around the room and noticed that it had crawled up the wall and had formed a cocoon in the upper corner of his ceiling. One of the creepiest things I've ever seen. I demanded that it leave the house and my son kept it at his friend's house down the street. Never did it ever come back through my door. I don't want to kill them...but, I do NOT want them around me out of a glass terrarium. Nope.
Your story gave me heart palpitations.

It's very impressive to see how gently people can interact with spiders, even huge ones like Zilla when most people are terrified of them. Myself included DX Still, despite the fear, you can't help but be fascinated by them.

I have nothing against spiders or whatever but whats with the "baby talk" towards the spider, such as "you're a big girl" it's a spider, it's brain power is probably on par with a cabbage, it's not like a dog or a cat where the animal is actually responsive to speech, the thing is most likely just aimless wandering around until it can find something to eat.
While true I think it's just that these people love their pet. I think it's expression of that and that they are aware that it's, well, like you said, just a spider.

Tarantulas seem dumb because they mostly respond to touch - not speech or visual cues which are the things we recognize the most readily. They really aren't dumb though - my rose hair will sit inside her bowl if it becomes empty to let me know she's thirsty, and if i annoy her by removing her shelter too much, she will web it down. Also, she clearly recognizes what is and isn't food because she won't try jumping any foreign object which isn't a cricket. I think all of these things require more brain power than a vegetable lol
though a deaf animal clearly doesn't hear baby talk lol
