@C Summers I agree, but it's just a way of classifying one of rock's many genres. Just as all bands are unique even within other classifications, such as progressive, classic, alternative, anyway. How to classify the 'Rush' for example? It's just a label to distinguish bands from the same era with some roots in common.
Its not about letting go. It's about his being scarred (tattooed) by his first love, his perception of the world (loss of innocence) changing forever. You cant let go of a tattoo. I think the summary line is "All the love gone bad, turned my world to black. Tattooed all I see, all that I am, all I'll be. Kind of the opposite of letting go.
I saw this on MTV Unplugged when it came out and I was blown away by how good they are live and unplugged. Unplugged had the Eagles perform and it was great too. Unplugged was like acoustic concerts. I miss the MTV of the 80's and 90's.
Eddie Vedded and Pearl Jam are widely considered (and are) The Greatest “LIVE” American Rock Band of ALL TIME! Eddie’s back story is one of the most incredible and Sad stories its a must research and read about Him. His Lyrics, raw emotion, and overall Music comes from these incredible Life experiences that He went through from Childhood till adulthood.
Unplugged is by far the best version, Eddie Vedder gave one of his finest performances in this! Great reaction Inna, you really got it 😊 Jeremy would be a really great follow up to this, it’s maybe even better!
The official music video for “Jeremy” was the final one the band filmed; after that they decided to discontinue making them. But it’s extremely powerful and deep. I hesitate to recommend the uncensored version, though that will definitely have the most impact.
A wonderful reaction to a very powerful song. Every time I listen to Black I tear up ... every single time ... I feel the pain of lost love and you explained it excellent that many different people can relate to it. Eddy's voice is not from this world really and I feel so privileged to have been to a live concert of Pearl Jam and hear him sing live. Without a doubt you will also love the song Jeremy and I can't wait what you think about those lyrics. Thank you!
Great review! You are absolutely right, It can relate to all forms of loss and this song was very hard for him to sing live because it opened the wound of his lost love every time and you could see towards the end of the performance. Jeremy is one of their best songs and was controversial because suicide was a hot button topic at the time, and I believe it was censored from MTV. Speaking of controversial, if you ever wanted to react to Tom Macdonald, he has a ton of music, but the genre is rap. He's not your average rapper, lol. He doesn't talk negatively and really makes you think. Every song he does makes you exercise your brain 🤔 You either love or hate him. There is not much in-between. I respect him for how creative he is and the visuals he has in his videos. Just a suggestion.. But if you don't, that is totally understandable as the genre is different. His first song is called "Dear Rappers"
Its a Song Eddie was very upset about putting on the album due to the overly causal nature of how people can see his pain. It was so powerful to him that he made comment at one time that he heard people casually singing it once that he snapped and demanded they stop singing it. Lots of hurt in it.
I've seen a lot of reaction videos to this song, some even comment his head shake as he sings "how quick the sun can drop away" but so far no one caught that he messed up the lyrics there. 😂 After " And all I taught was everything" comes "I know she gave me all that she would"😉

Great job with your reaction and thoughts on the song Black from Pearl Jam this is their live performance from The MTV unplugged . The Lead singer Eddie Vedar all most didn't do the show do to the Flu. Alot of people don't give the respect for the bass players Backup Vocals.
If you do "jeremy" you have to do the official music video to get the full experience of the song. Its devastating, but the song and video highlights the dangers of bullying in school and the mental health decline it causes
Huh. Nobody ever seems to mention that, while the performance is amazing, Eddie messed up. "Now the air that I tasted and breathed has taken a turn Ooh And all I taught her was everything Ooh, I know she gave me all that she wore And now my bitter hands chafe beneath the clouds Of what was everything Oh the pictures have all been washed in black Tattoed everything" This verse isn't in this version. He's pissed. Even so, this whole show was an amazing showcase of pure musical talent from the whole band. I see a lot of comments saying "React to 'Jeremy.'" Good song, but you should go for 'Release.'
Your analysis of the lyrics is spot on! The song is about letting go. It is assumed That the song is about his long relationship with musician Beth Liebling whom Vedder had been dating since 1983, whom he married in 1994 and divorced in 2000.Vedder said in a 2011 documentary that the song is about letting go. Your pick for the song Jeremy is an excellent choice. Hopefully it can be the official video.
Eddie has said that the song is about first love and how devastating it is when that first idealized relationship ends. The song was written while he was with Beth and he dedicates "Oceans" to her in the beginning of this Unplugged show. MTv edited it out but the unedited version is on UA-cam.
I love this song, but even as a native English speaker, I need the lyrics to understand it. This song really captures his pain in this breakup. Nice reaction Inna. Love from NY.

It's no rough hard rock song, but it has such powerful lyrics and Eddie brings it with so much passion, I always get a bit emotional when I hear it. Great reaction to one of my favorite performances. If you liked this one, consider watching Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged video of Where Did You Sleep Last Night. Another emotional performance in a great setting.

Love the acoustic versions of these Pearl Jam songs. Translates very well to those songs. Some other bands to check into(if you haven't yet) Def Leppard, Bon Jovi & Sonata Arctica
I have a hard time listening to this version of 'Black' because Eddie fucks up at one point and repeats a verse in the wrong spot. I was always surprised they stuck with this version instead of going back and re-shooting it. Maybe they gave bands the option of doing different takes and PJ refused? Who knows.

Great reaction... I agree100% about lyrics and your interpretation of them. This song speaks to that, as alot of people say this song is about his his girlfriend after her passing.. but listening to the lyrics to me it's about losing his daughter which is unbearable to think about and hits so deep. I'd like you to read the lyrics and let me know what your thoughts are... keep up the great work👍👌
React to Weird Fishes by Radiohead. It's a song about letting go from the perspective of leaving your partner for someone else and the guilt that goes with it. The lyrics are very metaphorical.
The line “I know someday you'll have a beautiful life I know you'll be a star in somebody else's sky, but why Why, why can't it be, oh can't it be mine?” Gets me every damn time

Great song. Would love to see you react to Evile - In Memoriam.
Check out Alice in chains MTV unplugged, down in a hole. But the best performance is Alice in chains love hate love live at the Moore. It's about Layne and Demri his girlfriend.
If you like lyrics, listen to yellow ledbetter… good luck
I call Eddie old marble mouth as he is hard to understand. Yellow Ledbetter is one that sounds good but very hard to understand
Really liked the audience of better man. @ madison Square garden. Makes you happy
Avenged sevenfold please
It’s about a breakup. Broken heart.
BLackbird by alter bridge please. If live look for the one at amsterdam.
Jeremy oficial music video

Now you need to check out Alice in Chains unplugged version of Down in a Hole

Rear view mirror pearl jam.
Thank you for the suggestion 😊
One of my favourites.
Eddie really will destroy his voice for his fans.
I don’t understand the cat ears thing people do. Good reaction tho
Just being honest here, I'm mostly subbing because Inna is beautiful woman with a beautiful face to look at.💗😍💋
I judge every reactor to their reaction to this song and if they can feel the emotion. Didn’t see any at all.
Škoda, že neumíš česky.
The album version is much more powerful.
