beep beep im a jeep
I want two of those. Love jeep kits.
Nice kit but the gas can, carrier and carrier strays should have been separate pieces.
Andy , you said you had problems with the clear coat over the decals .
What was the problem and what did you use ?
Your answer might save many others some headache .
Now that is one detailed Jeep. It amazes me how much detail they where able to incorporate into the model.
Nice work Andy. But I will never understand why you practically fully build before doing any painting. How did you get into all the nooks and crannies in the engine bay with the paint? I would have painted the chassis and engine all separate. I would also have painted all the seats separate before fitting to the body.
I was wondering the exact same thing.
me too, I don't like gluing painted parts and I don't like painting completely finished models... always a delima for me.
Andy can you explain what the reaction you had with the hood decals? Did the TS 80 not play well with the first set of hood decals?
This kit looks really well done, I own an old flat fender willys like this and everything detail wise looks excellent. I cant wait for mine!
I have a 1945 GPW. very good detailed model.
Beautiful !! I'm seeing all kinds of ideas in my head on this little jewel. Rat Patrol diorama !!!
As someone who has restored a Ford GPW (which is the exact same vehicle with only miniscule differences) i tip my hat to this model. The color you made the seats is actually closer to the true color than just a straight khaki. I did notice a couple of things that made me cringe a little, but I have to remind myself that a model this size cannot be as painstakingly accurate as the real thing. Great job, Andy.
@M Nunya the same along with the bumperettes aren't exactly to scale and when he initially put the star on the hood, which was too large, it wasn't high enough towards the windshield. Like I said, stuff that, at this scale, you can't get exactly right.
Seen the decals for tire pressure 20psi on front tire and 35 on rear ... I assume the weight of the engine would require more pressure on front tires.. Am I wrong? thanks
@M Nunya thank you ... I totally forgot about the cargo... that´s why more pressure on the rear tires .. .thanks
@@mmotorhead generally speaking you're correct. However, given the dimensions and weights of the MB, you'd actually be more worried about load capacity. With men, equipment, trailers, etc, more concentrated on the rear, the rear would end up weighing more than the front. The engines in these things weren't all that heavy.
@@bigezee thanks mate 🤘🏻
Takom did a great job. So did you, it looks great.
Nice👍.. when USMC left NZ in WW2 they left these behind stil buried not far from me.. thanks from NZ 👍🇳🇿
Hi Andy. Wow nice 1:16 build!!
Got mine today .. ordered it monday...crazy fast shipping.
I started this kit as soon as it showed up....im having so much fun with this kit ..every bolt, drainplug ..etc
Looks superb, I hope Takom will also make 1/16 Schwimmwagen, since Tamiya is hesitating.
Thanks Andy!! Mine came in today!!!
Tchaikovsky was an excellent choice.
Can't wait to get mine. Also have you guys received an update on the Border full interior stug III yet?
I'm excited to get mine. I pre ordered it and that kit looks amazing.
Cool kit, does anyone do a 1/16 Garand for the window scabbard as idont see one in the kit
Nice Job Andy really enjoying the 1/16 stuff you do. Lets hope Takom does a SAS version Jeep with two really nice figures with it and than the after market companies can go to town on the stowage sets for it!!!
Just finishing my Tacom 1/16 Jeep and I have to say even if you are not a 1/16th builder get this kit ! I ordered my kit from Andy's Headquarters and when it arrived I was impressed ! The detail was amazing. Good if not better than a Tamiya kit ! The fit was spot on and gives you the chance to go nuts super detailing the little Jeep. I added the Aber .50cal. barrel set and .50cal. ammo belt ( the .50cal. belts will drive you crazy bending to shape, but look amazing ! ) all from Andy's also. I just wish they would have added the M1 to the kit though. Their kit price was well below other sites and I got mine before anyone else had the kit ! Thank's Andy ! I think it's time for his Sherman kit !
Just placed a big order to your website. Just wanted to say love the content. As well as you having hobby supplies in stock on you website. We’re I live most of the hobby shops have closed.
Hi Andy, thanks for the video, great looking kit. Went to your EU site to pre-order. added to basket and almost ordered until I saw €21 delivery to UK... €12 to Europe, which in most cases is less distance. Sadly had to cancel as additional shipping wiies out any pre'order saving 😢
With the cost of the kit you’re really going to sweat €9?
@@TheModelGuy yep, ordered another kit instead!
I just started on this. Fantastic kit. Take your time on the front hubs and linkage. Really helped to watch this video.
Yes and when assembling the chassis, make sure that both sides line up otherwise, one side will end up longer. I made that mistake and it took forever to un-glue them without damaging it.
Andy, you missed painting the Service Drive stop signal lens on the light unit below the Jerry can. Unless activated by the driver, it should appear as a half-moon scarlet gloss color. Of course, the lower half lens would be clear gloss black, as well as the two other lenses on the other side. They were all the night driving Black-Out Drive lenses. As a reward for pointing that out to you, I sure could use a Tamiya M20 Utility Car. LOL
Well we have interesting model with some points. Takom guys should get rid of those ugly pushmarks at the hood as they made it openable. Also those tires are too circular. In this scale they should be flattened a bit from the box.
Also we need Davy Crockett launcher as aftermarket part!!!
Great kit and build! I am ordering one today! I love the scale, much easier to build when the parts are not micro sized. I also build ship models and would love to see someone come out with large scale USS Juneau. This ship was made famous by the Sullivan brothers who were all lost when the ship was sunk. There is only a 1/700 scale of this in plastic and a 1/350 in resin. The Atlanta class AA Cruisers have really lines and would make an excellent 1/200 scale kit. Thanks for the another great video and for advancing large scale kits!
Where’s the link I want one too!!
dang it...it is 11:30 pm and I was just going to be until I saw this...now I have to watch it as I have one pre-ordered lol...can't wait to get it.
@1:38 why is the rear bumper (and bumperettes) upside down? And then a mix of 'early' and 'late' jeep features, like the square body / firewall support brackets (early) and the 'late" expanding hand-brake setup on the rear of the transfer case.
I ordered the jeep and plan to order the E8, but please, please, PLEASE make a 1/16 M4A1 Sherman kit!! The only way to get one in that scale right now is to buy a very expensive R/C kit and resin conversion! Thanks!
Well I was finally able to get one of these ..wanted this kit since you introduced it.
Just got done with tamiya's M10...a larger kit might be in order ...lol ..I'm getting old
Great video as always but I'll never get why you use RUSSIAN music as the soundtrack of a build log of an American vehicle?!?!
WOW! I am a old man, don't want to wish my life away BUT I wish it was September right now.
Andy, you should come out with an Andy's branded wooden crate to do a diorama of the famous Jeep in a crate. I have a buddy who can get you blueprints for the crate.
It's a Really nice kit. the one thing I don't understand when ever they make a model of the Willy's jeep They NEVER include decals to build the model into a U.S. Navy Jeep. The Navy did use these jeeps as well , And it would be nice to build one as a Navy Jeep in the Navy Grey with the black decal lettering instead of the white or yellow to only make a Army, or Marine jeep.
Got one on the go at the moment.Stunning! However, I'm sure I've seen that someone is doing a metal 50 cal for it? Can anyone confirm who it is please. (If indeed it does exist..) Thanks
I’m not the only one that thinks the Browning in this kit is far below the standard of the rest of the kit.
Tamiya in the past has put out an AMazing 1/16 Browning sprue. Would be nice to see it back out. Maybe you can pass this on to any of your contacts. Cheers
Great build love the music too
My three jeep came in today. Haven’t even opened the box. Continue to watch your videos. I’m just curious did they include a rifle for the rifle holder?
A quarter ton, does that mean the weight it can pull/haul? I know that thing weighs more than 500 lbs
Yeah that’s towing/hauling weight.
@@euphmaniac623 ok, I thought it was, thank you very much
probably sorted Andy but the back bumper is upside down just saying like on the first look model
Hi Andy how do I buy a spare complete windscreen from Takom?
I've been waiting for this.
Mate, that is absolutely stunning. I'm trying to pre-order one in the UK on the back of seeing yours.
Great looking model. I wonder if one could paint it battleship grey to represent the USN, the only problem that has arisen is finding the proper decals.
I have built the 1/35th version of this kit and it's honestly one of the worst models I've built/seen. This one looks much improved.
Getting there with mine fully expecting an SAS WW2 version which will really be something to behold if they get it right :)
Andy can they add the factory stencilling that was in drab blue....before the jeeps were assigned the white markings?..
And the data plate in white stencil that on the side?
I want to try and get the Yellow star ⭐️ for the hood for a Normandy build you know the way they had the Gas detection stars on the hood's! My first has just restored a real one in this type of Normandy markings so I'm wanting to build mine the same as his for an Xmas gift of his beloved jeep
Hoping to purchase downside don’t do pay pal have you got an e-bay shop ? Would love this and the 1/16 Sherman
A question... The model has the mount for an M1 Garand. Does it come with an M1 to place in the mount?
Hi Andy! I am trying to place an order for days on your European site but everything seams to be out of stock. Is the site down?
Did you have any silvering after having applied the decals on a Flat painted surface?
Great decals! But why are the decals on the finished version totally different?
There £60 i want a second! Absolute brilliant price!
Ooh the Border Models Stuka is a good deal! Annoyed I live in the UK. More so than usual
I just received my kit , The only thing missing is the detail on the tire side walls. i guess you have to leave something for the after market people.
would like to see the hood decal made for showing chemical attacks.Cicle with star and inside the circle was a special paint to show chemicals were present
Andy, I am building this model right now & am wondering if you are going to do a detail weathering video on it. Looking forward to it.
I wonder whether the rear soft top could be scratch-built to open and close with some rice paper substituting for the canvas.
Looks awesome, Andy! Would be nice if there was lettering on the tires, but not a significant issue.
Need to make the door straps for it! I made them for the 1.35 kit it really looks good when there added!
The level of detail on this kit is astounding. They even have the cotter pins molded on the shocks!
I was impressed with the details too..especially the differential cover markings...I had to use a magnifying glass to read it...and it's clearly printed. Insane!!
What happened to the figure and 50cal machine gun that comes with mine
Just Ordered one. 👍
Mouthwatering build! Cannot wait to get mine from MBK!
Andy I appreciate how you are bringing all these great large scale models to us. Now if you could also team up with someone and bring us a really good 1/32 A-10 and P-38 that would be specular!
There's alrdy a good A10 by trumpeter
Ever time I go to your website the items shown in your video are not on the website
Looks nice except for the plastic tires.
Man, I LOVE this kit. Yours turned out NICE, Budd.
finally! I missed You man :D
First I’ve seen this kit. Immediately went over to the HQ and was shocked at the price, I was guessing far closer to $100! Ordered one on the spot! Can’t wait, should look great next to my pair of 1/35 Tamiya MBs.
I find that mold seams are a real pain.
Great looking kit/build!! 👍👍
Just Pre-ordered from EU store :)
Someone should make a tableau of that famous bit of WW2 footage of the guy driving/bouncing the Jeep with the back end fully alight. (It's a pretty well known piece of film...it's only a couple of seconds and is part of a bigger film on the European Theatre). This model is by far detailed enough to be able to do justice to that wild footage of a piece of history.
A Bridge To Far?
@@ZIPPRERZING I'm not sure. I think it may have been in battle of the bulge combat footage. You sorta see a side shot of a jeep bouncing down a mild incline from right to left, heading sorta towards the camera man and it fills a good portion of the frame. The guy driving it is pretty heavy set and wearing army conbat gear and i think he has his helmet on. Im not sure if its been colourised over the years, but im guessing that its likely as its one of those 'oh wow!' bits of footage from ww2The whole back of the jeep was on fire. If you see it, you'll know it....it used to get used in a lot of European Theatre WW2 documentaries. I think it may have been the result of an artillery barrage.....it all looks pretty chaotic. If you watch a doco of the battle of the bulge, you'll probably spot it. You'll know it when you see it.
I got this kit as a Christmas present from my local IPMS chapter. The detail is amazing and parts fit beautifully! I' m having a ball building this. It is going to be part of a diorama featuring a bunch of resin printed USO girls gone wild joyriding in a stolen jeep!
Wish they did a trailer for it too
This kit will be so popular, maybe a second production run should be prepared. like Takom's FV 432, I can't find one anywhere
in the UK.
I'm already trying to figure out ways to modify it into an early war jeep to match my 42 GPW script! Now off to find blue drab registration numbers in 1/16 scale.
Super looking kit, just a bit of original information - the steering wheel shown is as fitted to early MB's (they were made by Sheller in 'plastic') - very early (1942) were all black then were all green before being built with the later steel spoked wheel. Therefore the model steering wheel should be either all black or all olive drab but correctly for a 1943 MB it should have the wheel with steel spokes.
Beautiful ! but got x2 questions: have you seen the specific guard of the brake flexible, (one per each front wheel) ? are you sure with this equipment: the (pneumatic?) wiper engine?
Currently working on this gem.... I'm amazed on how Takom make great kits. The details in this kit is mind-blowing and everything fits where it should. If you buy it, you will NOT regret it.
With 3D printing I'm holding out for 1:1 scale. Haha I barely have room for 1/35 scale. Nice video as always.
Andy+ this is what I need to go with my kublwagon from tymia sorry misspelled that but you get my point love the 1/16 scale model line in military vehicles that new Sherman tank is beautiful
Pre ordered mine, I wish it came black stars and number markings for a Navy version. Thats how I'm going to build mine.
Very much detailed..minus the wirings (engine bay). Love to see more from you.
What about the figure.
Basically you ,just restored a jeep. But in 1/16 scale. This is the most detailed model I have ever seen. I started in models but now dabble in 1:1.
Nice job Andy! I'm still waiting for this model in the UK. What are the dimensions? If I had those I could start on the display cabinet while I'm waiting.
Very cool that the figure is dual pose, behind the steer or casually behind the 50 cal. I have gotten the 1/16 scale H3 models crew for the Jeep. I’ll retain the kit figure as gunner.
I own a real 1942 MB amazing accuracy!
No bar required for the hood - it rests on the windshield.
Right front wheel is canted out in the preview. Years of IPMS shows can infect the mind🙂
Awesome andy. congratulations on the kit. Would the figure be for sale as its exactly what I am looking for, unfortunatly I cant buy the kit just for the figure. cheers.
Excellent!!!…. I love it!
I'm mostly done with assembly, just need to paint and put it all together, I have to say it's probably the best quality kit I have ever done, everything fits perfectly, next to no flash and great finish, can't wait to complete it👍
I would totally be willing to spend almost 30 bucks more if they would just make the figure resin
I just finished this kit. The hood hinge proved to be very flimsy and fiddly, so I ended up gluing the hood in place unfortunately, because the engine turned out really nice. But overall I liked the kit, there were a few fit issues, but overall I really had a great time building it.
Just finished building this kit. Excellent fit EXCEPT that the clear windscreen appeared a bit smaller (or rather narrower) than the frame it is supposed to fit in. Still a great kit and can't wait to lay my hands on the 1/16 Sherman!
