This is by far the best kit I have ever built. The precision of the castings as well as the details are absolutely mind blowing. Perfection is a better word
Andy, that model is screaming out for some guys! The vehicle and gear is fantastic, but you need at least one guy in back. 'I'd love to see you put the new H3 models MG42 machine gunner (16056) back there
There is a restoration of a Sdkfz 251/9 that was done by the Patton museum that I found online a while back. They had the whole vehicle to start with and while it was in rough shape, they didn't hardly have to guess at much when it came to paint or anything else. The one thing that I remember is that the engine compartment was only painted the red primer which makes sense. The external paint color was not wasted on an area that didn't need it. One other thing about this kit is that it looks like Das Werk did all the parts as the original was broken down. Thus the seam between the front and back between the drivers and rear area. With planning they could do other much more interesting variants.
Nice build. I do have several original outer track wheels ( original name: Scheibenrad)( two of them connected: A-Rad) still in their sand color. Some tracmk pads,, origkinal ax holder for onthe left fender, onefront hook and the D660 manual booklets copies. Next weekend I go La Gleize ( where a real Kingtiger 2 is standing) to military relics market in thevillage streets.lets see what i can find. Regards from the Battle of the Bulge area
In the middle of building mine and these videos really help! I'm trying something a little different though. I like the way the initial test shot looked with the body and chassis separate. It really showed off the detail of the chassis. Figure I'll do a diorama of it being dislayed at an armament demonstration or something like that.
Great videos, I have bought to date all of the German das werk models from you and your videos are very helpful, please keep up the excellent work work!
Assembling tracks provide better detailing compared to the old tank kits that had 1 set of tracks & nothing else. The new type of tracks improve the realism. Thank you for the video!
Great video Andy Now you need to build something to tow behind it...pak40, trailer,??? OH! And some figures. H3 or Sol need to do a driver figure for this. AFV Modeler does one but he is turned around looking to the rear😢 Ron G
Big thanks to Andy! I am just in the middle of the first video and having this is just so nice and inspiring, like having the opportunity to fast forward the build process and see results. Thanks again Andy.
Good work as usual, I'm glad your plan to be able to show off the detail under the floor worked out. Out of curiosity are you going to build the Tamiya 1/16 radio controlled Centurion at some point? That is a build I would really like to see.
Beautiful. The detail is amazing. Its a pity the sub floor detail gets covered. I know you left yours loose ; but would it be possible to substitute the front and rear main floor parts with clear sheet stock. You could use the original's as templates Time consuming, but it might work and show enough detail.
Watching this and waiting for the Mail Man....coz it’s being delivered today! 🤪 Just to say, its looking really, really good, Andy....you might like to check Rado Minitures, as they’ve got some lovely photo etch masks in 1/16 scale for Unit Markings, Wehrmacht and SS, Schwere Panzer Battalion Markings, Wittman specific Markings and Tiger 1 in North Africa Markings.....some in 1/35 as well! ATB and thanks for the video!
I scanned through Rado's product list on their website (3 pages). But I couldn't find any unit markings suitable for 1/16 scale Tigers in North Africa - at least, not for the available kits such as Andy's or Tamiya's. They do have the "stalking tiger" of s.Pz.Abt.501 but there are no suitable 1/16 Tiger kits for that.
Hi Andy , great job on the kit! I'm just finishing up on mine . I noticed you left off parts of the transmission M35, G16 in step 16 to make the forward plate removeable.? I'm not sure Das Werk meant this plate to be removed based on the instructions . Explaining that you have to modify the instructions a bit and leave these pieces off would be helpful to future Modelers of this kit, Also SOLMODEL makes figures and accessories for this kit . Will you be getting those in?? Thanks !!
The 'leather' of the seats was actually a sort of naugahyde and came in a number of colors depending on the manufacturer, but in a 251 D the most likely color was black
I don't like how every screw head along the front and on all hinges are all the same way just copied and pasted in cad they never even bothered rotating the heads slightly to have a miss match realistic look! They have just mirrored all the screw heads on the opisit side so facing the other way but with them all facing the same way! For this scale it's noticeable and might need correcting on front upper engine pannal as it's right in your face!
Looks good, except no one ever stored a road wheel inside like that - ever. Also, they'd keep them away from the antenna wire, and the vision slots. ALWAYS use pictures for stowage, unless you have IRL experiance. I found the kit fairly well engineered, although the seats are much too fragile to make the floor removable. There are several scratch building opportunities with this kit, such as the wiring, air lines, oil cans for the included oil can holders, and an angle iron support structure for the floor boards. The battery looks wrong to me, too, but I can't be sure. It is defiantly different than the other Aus versions, although they may have simplified things on the Aus D. Couldn't find a good picture.
Thats exactly what I said today when got mine! WAW it's all wrong! Lol unbelievable seriously a German company got this wrong! Go with Trumpeters theirs is accurate! Seats, sprokets front wheels Mg42 stupid way there done in parts same with multi peoce gas mask can that blew me away how that was done! Trumpeter full slide Moulded also tracks are wrong both edges are flat straight whare they pin they should have a slight curve and there to thick! Also.pads are to short! So alot to start doing in cad to correct it! Yep go for Trumpeters! They have the correct polygonal rubber pads not the round tyre on the sproket for carrying the track links through!
This is by far the best kit I have ever built. The precision of the castings as well as the details are absolutely mind blowing. Perfection is a better word
Mine arrived today with the Stug and Easy Eight. Looking forward to the Panther which will sit next to my Tiger

Salut Andy , un bonjour de la France , merci pour cette belle vidéos très intéressante , j'ai pris un grand plaisir a la regarder .

Absolutely stunning

Love this Kit!!!!!!!!!!!!
A milestone in modelling! And your superb paint-job has done it justice! Bravo❤️
I love this kit too, Thanks very much, Andy....,😃
Space age! Great build!
Great build Andy 👏👏
Fantastic video! I'm in the middle of my build. I too am planning on having the floors removable. Thank you for the tips!!
Thanks, Andy.
Fantastic job Andy! A great tutorial and a wonderful kit.
Definitely going to make this my first foray into 1:16 scale!
A very very nice model I'm thinking about getting this one now and doing it in a snow camo looking forward to seeing more videos for you very soon 😊
Great video andy
Excellent! 😍

Beautiful, coukd you put it next to the tiger
Very cool. It needs people and some camo netting or branches or something. The kit is amazing and so nicely detailed. Bravo.

Excellent weathering process! I still need to try that wood grain effect! 😊
Very nice work,Andy! Keep up the great content. Take care!
What a great job Andy 👍
you are very talented.
Can't wait for the after-market people to come up with some of the other variants of the D. Here's hoping for a Stummel!
Great video Andy

Lovely model. They should do a kit for the Panther or King Tiger!
The construction of the tracks is much simpler than in the competitive Trumpeter set, where each link is made of three elements.
Cool as always. 👍
Big thanks to Andy! I am just in the middle of the first video and having this is just so nice and inspiring, like having the opportunity to fast forward the build process and see results. Thanks again Andy.

Hi Andy great video that looks like a fun build this is on my list to buy this kit have a great day and thank you for sharing this video 😊
Looks great!

Great kit there Andy. As mentioned, it's crying out for a crew/infantry section but how big would the display base be lol!!
Great looking kit, well done!

Andy do you know if someone is planning on bring out the Sd.Kfz. 7 8 ton tractor
Beautiful kit ! What are the dimensions of this kit ? Thank you
For the price u should get all that extra gear with it and at least two figures .
I hope someone brings out some Panzer grenadier figures to go with it that's all it needs to make a sensational model
Some deviations from the order of steps in the instructions here Andy. Great videos apart from that.

Hello. Do you use tamiya cement to glue painted parts or do you need to remove the paint first? Thnx.
Hello again. I noticed you don't have the rifles in yet. Are you going to add slings? I'm giving that a thought. Thanks again.
“Mediocre” my butt!! Excellent job Andy that thing is freakin gorgeous!

I have OCD so I love it, ie every screw in the switch plates in my house point straight up, lol.
Cant find part 1
Where is part one ?
Nice! Are there any figures that are suitable for this model?
Some from his previous video should be fine.
solmodel makes three figures for this kit, a forward gunner a rear gunner and a commander plus stowage gear. They are a little pricey however
1/16 scale Mercedes-Benz W31 type G4 staff car for the next kit?
painting the rubber on the wheels at the end????? seems way to difficult as opposed to just painting them then attaching them lastly
I found the instructions for this one to be very confusing in places, DAS WERK could make them more builder friendly
Sdkfz250の後期型同じスケールで発売しないかなぁ。

Omg rear door wrong you put square door in round edge who made this for you
Can't even get to watch the video ,just get UA-cam circle of death 😪
Give it a few hours. UA-cam gonna UA-cam.
Too much talk, being a bit boring, IMO.
Pity you don't show much assembling, only assembled phases.
poop in tha sooop
