Building the 1/16 4x4 1/4 Ton G503 MB Utility Truck by Takom

- This is a complete build from start to finish of the ¼ ton 4x4 G503 MB Utility Truck in 1:16 scale by Takom. Including build tips, painting / weathering, and modifications.
This wonderfully detailed, 1:8 scale replica is a Willys MB Jeep® that played a vital role in the fate of World War II.
On June 6, 1944, this Jeep® - along with thousands of men and vehicles from the 1st Infantry Division - landed on Omaha Beach, Normandy, on D-Day Day.
She then took part in continuous offensives across France, eventually reaching the German border before participating in the Battle of the Bulge.
She helped set up the Remagen bridgehead, and also took part in operations in the Rhine and Ruhr. This Willys MB Jeep® from the 1st Infantry Division was involved in some of the U.S. Army's most important campaigns during World War II.

This video will be my go to for this build. I have this kit and has been sitting on the shelf for 3-months.
I have been mainly 35th scale for the past 3 -years, so I been a little gun shy on starting the 16th scale!

Those pieces you were wondering about are called injection towers. These were extreme but Takom uses this A LOT in their mouldings.

I got this kit in a "White Elephant" exchange at the Christmas IPMS chapter meeting. I'm about 2/3 finished with the build. I'm amazed at the level of detail in this model. Some of the parts are extremely tiny, so have your tweezers handy and lay off the coffee!
02:32 This is a crucial part... when joining both sides, make sure both ends align each other across or else the bumpers will be on an angle. It's a very subtle difference that you can't see that will make a huge impact on the frame's alignment (even in they fit in the pins at 03:15). I had to unglue all of one side and it wasn't easy

The “fuse box” looks like a voltage regulator for the generator to me.
I think the instructions labeled it the fuse box - but I could be wrong.
@@rickgregory9616 I could be wrong too. Unless we can see a picture of one of these with the hood up it’s safe to go by the description in the instructions. I do think the voltage regulator is a tad smaller than that.
The model kit you are going to make is call a willy jeep not truck I know because I was in the army and I drove one just to let you know 😊 have a good 👍😊 day
Thanks for watching. Yes, I know it's called a 'Jeep," and I have tried to be consistent with 'Jeep.' but sometimes it's just a slip of the tongue. I thank you for your service. I come from a military family. However, that said - the name of the kit is 'Utility Truck.'
