I never spared any expense when I took a Smith and Wesson survey on-line, survey after survey, to post my distaste and objection to their lock and it's continuation. If the survey wasn't specifically tailored to the question of the lock? I still worked my opinion into the survey about the lock.
Effn locks should NEVER have been on them to begin with, stupidest most dangerous thing you could do putting a lock on a defensive weapon. Revolvers are not toys if they were they would be called firetoys not firearms. It’s so crazy how the S&W guy seems kind of upset about a lack of a lock. TF is wrong with these corporate weenies? I know they own the lock company but just stop pushing it down our throats.
Should have got rid of the lock on all models. It always reeked of some back-room appeasement deal to lawyers and gun control advocates, and it worked because many of us went to other brands or pawn shops to pick up the older better fit and finish of the older Smiths. It cut sales and Smith went along with it.Why the hell would I want a key lock on a DA revolver?
Bought a 629 and a 69 last month from Davidsons/Gallery of guns because of the rebates. Both had mechanical and cosmetic issues and are currently back at the factory for repairs. Smith and Wesson needs to get there QC and sh*t together! Rocky Mountain Shooters Supply in Fort Collins Colorado was my local gun shop.
I welcome dropping the locks and the model 36 in original style is good but to me the bull barrel and round butt were big, desirable model 10 improvements so going back to a square butt pencil has a lot less appeal to me, especially when 4" square butt pencil model 10 revolvers are not hard to find used for much cheaper. The model 19 I would have preferred in a 3" blue round butt. PS -the 19 has the better ball detent crane lock up and I think this upgrade should have been on ALL Smith revolvers long ago.
So great news. We all hope that S&W take the hated lock away now on all their models. I would like to see a model 12 with 3 inch barrel. No lock of course.
@@colewilliams9432 Love the old retro production but would rather have the firing pins on the hammer to really be called an old school cool revolver !!!
@@jeffreyelliott622 well I did a little research and it turns out that these new no lock revolvers actually do have the firing pin mounted directly on the hammer. Wow
It’s sooo good to see this happen.. took almost 20 years but it’s still welcomed. Better late than never. I only wish they had returned the frames to the original contours that the first frame mounted firing pin models had before the lock. They had more curve and more of the hammer was visible. But I’ll take what I can get.
now bring back the M12 in a +P rating, M19/M66 with 2.5 inch barrel, square butt M21/M22 and also short barrel versions ( 2.75?) the older 38 special M60,M649,M640. and also offer them in ( M631/M632) 32 HR Mag. ( NOT 327Mag, too much power for such a small gun). M52 in 38 special wadcutter but with 7 round mags ( or 8 ) , M39 , M59, and 639.659. and no lock M27 ( and offer the b3.5 inch version as well and maybe with an 8 round cylinder with classic looks) just to name a few.
Am I correct that these new production models of the older models won't have the firing pin on the hammers ? And at what msrp price point are we looking at ?
I carry auto loaders most days, but I love classic revolvers. There is just something about them. I own several Smiths. None have a Hillary hole. I will never own one that does. I am glad to see Smith evolve away from such a useless endeavor as that grotesque hole. No one I know ever uses them, they detract from the aesthetics of the pistols, and serve as a reminder of the insanity of gun control lunacy.
All my smiths are pre lock. Over the last couple years I added all the new Colt snake guns to my collection cause they have no locks. New smiths are not on my list of guns to get.
The key lock is what has stopped me from buying a new model 19, and maybe even a 586 although I think I’d rather have an old one but still. I haven’t bought a new S&W solely because of the key lock and I think there are many people like me. Yall are about to have a shortage of revolvers lol
Is the disappearance of the lock gonna trickle down to the rest of the revolvers or will it be a title wave, just erase it from the SNW history? OR, is this just a trial run to see how people will react to the deletion of the lock? GET RID OF IT IN ALL NOW!!!
Its about time that S&W to abandon that Lock system and design cause only few 😮 are buying it... Because that lock maybe or after long years will cause malfunction to the gun... i have seen and fired old S&W revs (older than me 61 yo) and they are still great!
So this defeats the entire lock logic. First it was ok to take them off of da only revolvers. Now it is ok on Classic series. So there is no point to having them on any revolvers, anymore
Got two S&W revolvers with a Hillary Hole. Never used these locks. The key never was removed from the plastic bag it came in. The lock is so stupid. Doesn't stop theft of the gun. All the keys are exactly the same, available for anyone to buy and use. The lock system doesn't stop anything. Just another stupid idea that should have never got past the drawing board stage of design.

As one commenter said on S&W's own video announcing this: _"Only took 30 years to Finally listen to their customers and get rid of that stupid lock."_

Very happy to hear this. Hopefully they continue to remove them from entire revolver line! 🤞🏻
Slowly, but surely, hopefully.
I find it ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS that an" all metal " pistol without a

Here's an idea: Have an exclusive in .327 Federal based on the model 10.
Get rid of the lock.
Now, do the same for all others!
So smith and wesson made 2 old men with gray beards???
I want a refund of 7.51 minutes you never show the gun!

Closeups of the guns at the end, but sorry you're disappointed.

Curious about the price. A new "old" model 59 might be cool too.
So where do we get them?

Do we know if the models 36 and 10 are rated for +P .38 special?
They are. It’s stamped on the barrel

California availability?
I will definitely be getting a Model 10 and Model 19.
Do you like the two piece barrel of the model 19?
@steveinla8963 I have no problem with two-piece barrels. Keeps S&W monkeys from over torquing the barrel out of rear sight alignment.

no
