Death Metal Drumming Practice (70)

Enjoy watching me suffer and embaress myself hahahahah. I'm trying to slow down a bit and gain control and maximum comfort when using ankle motion which is a large percentage of my time spent behind the kit. It is proving to be difficult. Playing as fast as I can is hilariously easier then steadying out middle speeds for me. So for you drummers who are just starting out, my advice to you, is to be patient with your teachers and yourself, and don't jump the gun. Listen to your teachers. Work your way up. Always have fun, and enjoy drumming. Play what you want to play, but don't expect immediate healthy double kick results. Work hard on things, but try not to feel discouraged if you feel your hard work hasn't paid off yet. It will. Stay determined, and disciplined. It takes forever to get really good (which im not after 16 years of holding myself back by just playing as fast as I could without regard for slower things. When I was younger, I thought I was the fastest around so I was unbeatable... nope, not even remotely the case) so be patient with yourself. It takes even longer to readjust your entire playing style and relearn drumming and your muscle memory as a whole. But it can be done.
