You'd be surprised what people do in grief. After my mom passed away suddenly, one of my cousins got a memorial tattoo for her. At the time I (shittily) thought "Wow, Mom didn't even like you that much." But who am I to say what impact my mom did or didn't make on this cousin's life? I think relegating the memorial tattoo for someone who was a "fling" is unfair. This person was his friend and losing her clearly made an impact on him- let him have his feelings about his own past. This woman should be the furthest thing from a "threat" to your current relationship- don't make it about you.
I said something similar. My wife and I listened to this episode together today. I said that if one of my friends decided to memorialize my late brother by getting a tribute tattoo, I would forever be grateful and humbled by the gesture. They were focused far too much on the “fling” portion and not how this was his friend’s sister, who clearly meant a lot to him.
Sorry to hear you lost your mom suddenly. It’s the worst when it’s unexpected and sudden.
Edit: you’re right about what grief does and how you view people and their relationship with the deceased.
@@cordcd7 Thank you for your kind words 🥰 I'm sorry to hear about your brother. Losing someone so close to you is so rough. You never know how grief is gonna hit you until something happens. And even then it's a roller coaster of a cycle.
@@celestebradshaw6030 yeah, I agree. Losing a loved one to age is one thing but when you lose someone close to you unexpectedly and suddenly, it hurts much deeper. May we all take solace in the fact that hopefully one day we’ll be reunited.

Lol Jon is a brave man coming hot straight out the gate 😂. I can’t even imagine how hard it is to be pregnant. I’ve watched my wife do it with our son and now currently with our daughter on the way. She has been sick the entire time for both pregnancies. Goes to work everyday and comes home and takes care of business like a badass. Alex might be emotional and crying more now, but I promise you Jon, when your son gets here he will turn you into an absolute ball of mush. I cry just thinking about how much I love him sometimes. I literally teared up writing this lol. I was never like this before him. It changes your entire world, but for the best and I wouldn’t change it for anything.

I just finished watching your two latest episodes back to back and I just wanted to thank you for making me laugh out loud again and again.
Also I’ve recently been ghosted by my best friend of 15 years after I expressed my frustration of her not showing up until the last 10 mins of my dad’s funeral. She never acknowledged or sent back an apology. She just vanished. Although it was me who was done with her drama and wanted out and still glad she’s out of my life, I never expected her not to fight for our friendship especially since it was always me being there for her through thick and thin and her failed relationships. It hurts you know? 🙁

My dad had cancer for 4 years and sadly died in January at 57 years old. Alex is so right that death puts things into perspective, and I can tell you that it never feels like enough time. Just keep loving and appreciating your parents like you have, and I think you both are doing really well! ❤

I had cervical cancer and the treatment damaged all the pelvic parts, including my bowels. My then-BF (now husband) had to deal with my chronic uncontrollable diarrhea ...and I had to get really comfortable with the vulnerability that that brings! We were never the "I don't fart" with you around couple, thankfully. Thank you, John, for sharing your poop-in-the-bush story. This has been my life for YEARS. I feel your pain in a bush!!! (I am a dog walker, and I know where ALL the good bushes are HAHA). I loved Alex's question...can you really trust someone you can't fart in front of? Farts ARE normal! You two are hilarious :). Personally I don't agree with farting in front of your significant other tbh. I've been married before, and my ex used to fart in front of me so I naturally did it too. It didn't feel good, and especially when he did it as if he wanted to make me uncomfortable. Even though we farted in front of each other, I could never trust him or be myself with him. My current husband is my person, he is the best, but we don't fart in front of each other out of respect for each other. If respect goes away, cursing starts, and it just snowballs into a toxic relationship. This just works for us, we are both lactose intolerant, but prefer to fart in another room. We have a kid together so he has seen my worst, but doing something willingly just doesn't sit right. Maybe cultural differences?
