- Mark Holcomb of Periphery & Haunted Shores answering questions from the audience playing through Graveless from the album Juggernaut: Omega.
This is the one of several videos we shot during the clinic Mark was gracious enough to do at our store on Saturday the 24th of October 2015. He did an excellent job showcasing his amazing PRS guitars signature model and was extremely informative regarding the methodology behind his playing.
We recorded the direct output of the mixer, so unfortunately I couldn't change the volume of the AxeFX versus the backing but the mix isn't too bad. Please subscribe to our channel and check out the other few videos from this clinic + more guitar videos.

I have so much respect for Mark and Periphery it's ridiculous
such a genuine dude. i fucking love this band
Periphery is the best thing to happen to music since music itself was born.
Dude left his guitars for you guys to play? That's such a cool thing to do.
+Jake Stephen It was incredible, they were literally passed around the room. I've also soon him stage dive with them. I love that he has literally pretty much has the highest level of guitar in the world (PRS private stock) and it doesn't in any way affect how he treats them. Wasn't even a scratch on them!
+Guitar Factory Parramatta He let us play his guitar at the Brisbane clinic too! Mark is such an awesome dude
I love the way he interacts with his side of the stage during shows.
+Curtis Kenchel Yes.
I saw them in hotlanta, and during make total destroy at around 2:17 he was playing the poly'd open chug section and playing rock paper scissors with another fan that was right by the stage...
Talk about fricking multi-tasking hahahaha
@@PhilMeadJams if you consider how much he’s probably played make total destroy he could play that polyrhythm in his sleep. that is sick tho :)
@@emmywillow6599 Oh it was definitely considered. I think that was the 1st (of 5 times) I've seen them, and the initial shock experience still resonates with me.
I just realized that the melodic motif for the album plays during the last chorus (12:38) and I've listened to this album like 50 times.. damn they sneaky
Same
almost 10,000 views and not a single dislike. that says a lot about mark, and about the fans of this type of media. nothing but impressive and informative. not even a huge periphery fan, but definitely a huge mark Holcomb fan
The noise gate part answered one of my questions. I figured they used different noise gate settings for different parts. awesome!
I really like how we leaves the guitars out for people who are interested in trying them. I don't know if anyone else does that or if its a normal clinic thing but I think thats really cool
Adam Neely, is that you? 12:25
the lick is played by misha :(
im not a periphery fan....but mark holcomb is such a nice guy and a brilliant guitarist. i want his tones lol. thanks guitar factory from the uk.
How do you not like periphery man? Lol
How
The last chorus gave me goosebumps.
Mark is the be(a)st.
Mark is the best part of Periphery.
9unslin9er I like Spencer because he's mysterious and you don't hear a lot about him. He's only done a handful of interviews and we really don't know much about him or his life or his inspirations. I want to get to know Sp0nce more than anything. He has the most beautiful voice and is so creative, yet we have no clue who he really is. Everyone else talks to other people and does clinics and interviews and sp0nce is just like....never there.
Cody Lujan I absolutely hate his voice and his stupid beard.
Wow dude, chill.
Cody Lujan LOL. Just my opinion dude. I really think he's the worst part of the band. Afterthought. He would be a much better match for Polyphia. That way, we can listen to the best part of Periphery (the riffs) and forget the worst part of Polyphia (that it has no words).
His vocal range is basically unmatched by any modern metal singer. He can countertenor so flawlessly that you sometimes cant even hear him transition between chest and head voice. Just listen to the last part of "Black Minute" and "Catch Fire". Amazing singer.
probably do not have time to record a series, as much as it would be appreciated thank you for the content already on youtube Mark
12:40 WAS THAT BLACK MINUTE I HEARD?! NONE OF THOSE PEASANTS CAUGHT THAT! omg i love mrak
Cody Lujan Juggernaut actually repeats several themes like that one. I believe it's in the official audio as well.
Alex He was asking if a part of the song referred back to A Black Minute, which it does
***** It is a Black Minute. The song is graveless, but the riff he used was from A Black Minute.
***** Remove your profile picture. You arent worthy of having a Periphery profile picture if you can't tell a difference between a riff and a song. PESEANT. SAD!
Alex I can't tell if being an obvious troll or you're just being dense as fuck.
BEST SOUND, clarity in high gain!
masterful guitar player
Guy at 13:23 is thinking, "3brootal5me."
Que tipo hermoso
What speakers were he using with axe fx in this?
9:52 - Graveless
which amp is simulated by marks patch on the axefx2 he is playing here?
DaDave I'm prettt sure they all, even Nolly, emulate 5150's
i wish i knew how he did those divebombs at the end without a floyd rose, and it couldn’t be a neck bend could it? because how low the note goes it would certainly break the neck, right?
theonlyjewski he didn’t play them, he palm muted and let the notes sort of ring out muted.
9:52 where the song starts
What speakers did he use here
Such a genuine person
Haha! 12:26; I wonder whose idea that was.
It was actually Misha :P
the lick
That economy of picking. What a legend.
Kirk Hammet, is that you ? (white tee, front row).
What was that first question asked? Something about getting something free?
+Agustin Torres It was regarding his endorsements and whether or not he gets his guitars for free.
Ahh, thank you kindly!
