Hello sweet friends! I hope you're ready with a pen and paper because we've got a lot to cover in this video! I share all the book that are on my fall reading list, the New England fall foliage trips that I am planning, items from small businesses that I want to purchase and my first trip to go Halloween hunting! We're halfway through August now, students here in the US are getting ready to go back to school so I thought now would be the perfect time to share this first fall video of 2023. Just a tip, if you are planning any trips to New England this upcoming fall season, try to book accommodation as far in advance as possible. Prices go way up and it can become difficult to find good places to stay.

I think we long for the enjoyment of the Summer when we were kids and there was no school. Long days with friends in the sprinklers or at the park or riding bikes with no cares. As adults, we just get sweaty, hot, bug-bitten and sun-burned 😐 but I am trying to fall in love with summer again through my garden and its wildness. And, of course, Desi's videos ❤
My husband and mother in law are total summer babies... then there is me and my father in law and we get so antsy for the fall! I love the Winter too...but the last 2 weeks of January into February can be rough.. 😬😣

I'm planning on bringing my sisters and little cousins to the pumpkin patch! I'd love to take them this corn maze I went to in c. 2010 because there are so many games and slides and people always bring their dogs. My youngest little lady cousin adores animals.
That's the same for Christmas. People don't understand you have to plan the holidays at least 2 months in advance to do all of the things. 😅

Hey Desi! New to your channel! Have you ever read Mary Downing Hahn? She's such a great author of children's spooky ghost books! She wrote "Wait Till Helen Comes" in 1986 and it haunted me as a child! I still have my copy and reread it whenever I want that 80s nostalgia spooky childrens book vibe. She's written plenty of other spooky tales so there's lots to choose from. Loved this video and I too am looking forward to Fall!

Dear Desi, I found the most perfect bookstore for you in Anoka, MN (The HALLOWEEN CAPITAL OF THE WORLD- or as they like to claim). It has such amazing autumn themed coffee syrups and so many spooky themed books. When I went, I was like, Desi would LOVE this. If you ever find yourself in Anoka Minnesota, I highly recommend visiting Avant Garden bookstore.

I don’t know about anyone else but in my small town in Oklahoma our Dunkin already has pumpkin spice drinks out! Also there’s this really good 1980’s movie that’s perfect for Halloween! It’s called Fright Night and it’s about this teenage boy who is convinced that his new next door neighbor Jerry who’s played by Chris Sarandon is a vampire! It’s so good!!

A great autumnal/wintery book that I adore with my whole heart is Little Thieves by Margaret Owen. The writing is absolutely incredible, the characters feel so alive and the mythology woven in is very atmospheric. It's my favourite book of all time and the sequel to it just came out this year!! 💛

I live in South Wales, UK and July was dreadful for a summer month! Constant rain, gloominess and low temperatures... It put me in an autumn mood and although August is a bit warmer, I am here for the fall content! Autumn is my favourite season and November is my birthday month 😊 every year autumn feels quite short, after Halloween people are getting to winter/Christmas mood so I am definitely commited to start enjoying it earlier this year, I hated summer and let's forget about it 😂

Definitely a place to be on your radar is Corning, NY. Especially in fall!! You can blow your own glass pumpkin (and make other glass crafts) and it’s beautifully decorated. Western and Upstate NY may be a bit far for you but there’s beautiful fall activities over there.

im done of swearing "this autumn is going to be the best autumn" and then not appreciating it enough. This IS going to be my autumn. I WILL make pumpkin pie with real pumpkin, I'll fill myself with apple and cinnamon tea, I'll have autumn walks with my friends and I will wear autumnal clothes. I will read books til midnight on fridays and saturdays and I'll keep writing songs on my guitar and mandolin. I will light up candles when I have to study, I'll binge watch over the garden wall the day before halloween and I'll look for mushrooms in the deepest parts of the forest. This WILL be my autumn

As someone who really loves summer too, I've held off watching this until now. It's still summer here, but there's a subtle change now, and technical fall is almost here! I'm excited! Seeing how happy you are about fall, I'm so glad you didn't move to Europe! The love of fall and all things pumpkin spice is truly a North American thing. There's no shops selling Halloween goodies over here, no themed foods or decor being put up. It's mostly a thing that children do, having a small fall market at their school, and it's mostly seen as juvenile or excessive. I miss the coziness and autumn/halloween vibe living over here so much and I'm grateful that your videos are here to create that fall magic 🤩
