I'm working on materials and maps right now :D I realized that my models can be better for material editors, I'm doing it better. Thanks for helping me, these days I've been working instead of going to parties, I'm in love with this project, and some others I have in mind because not everything is action and games, happy new year!
I have forgot lots of things about unwrap technic, eventhough i was good at this before... Thanks to you I remembered this technic again... Thank you ...👍
NIce approach, helpful, i think would be also helpful some small tips like using F2 (selection shade on/off) to preview the texture in the model and in the UV editor easier without the "red" selected faces.
I'm not a UV expert but I believe it's because the shape at 3:20 had curves she wanted to keep. If she used straighten selection on that the cushion sides wouldn't have the proper shape.
In my life of CGI I always had fear of uvw . I will watch this tutorial looks promising, I would request you please make a video where after generating uvw, we can make a custmized texture in photoshop on that uvw map
Hey! These are very helpful ones, thank you! I have 1 question left during the beginning of the learning process of unwrapping. So complex modells r okey...understood...it has to be unwrapped by elements. But what if I have a simple object like a Cylinder (fire extinguisher this time) and i just want to paint dirt on it in substance painter. The complete unwrap is need to be added on that object as well? Or I can export it only with a simple uv map layer on it? Because I tried both and Substance painter gives me a lot of error messages.
If you're using Rhino 7 you could convert a surface into a mesh and then remesh it into quads. Or you could export the surface as is from Rhino as an FBX, then try to use the 'Quadify Mesh' modifier in 3Ds Max. You could then follow the steps she shows here in whatever way works for your project. Hope that helps!
Very informative video but its soo much time consuming. There are some more techniques in uvw unwrap modifier to do unwraping please make quick video for that as well! Thank you
The reason I hate unwrapping in max is we need to rotate each elements by hand to make it vertically or horizontally aligned... its so freaking time consuming when we have so many unwrapped parts... Thats the reason I have switched to RizomUV...
one question if i want to do a template when i uwnrap the part oviusly go inside the grey square? because yo scaled and the part aren't inside the grey square or is another way to scale parts an put all togheter on the square to generate later a template?

At 7:11 you use "Straighten Selection" but on 3:20 you use a different method, why is that? What is the difference between them?
I'm not a UV expert but I believe it's because the shape at 3:20 had curves she wanted to keep. If she used straighten selection on that the cushion sides wouldn't have the proper shape.

If you press F2 it would be easer to see it on the model. Red selected polygon won't bother you.
The dreaded UVW. Lol. Took me a while to master.
Honestly it’s aids

Thank you for the tutorial. However, what about the complex objects come from rhino? They are not as clean as objects are modeled in the 3ds max.
