I just saw this is another video with a different derrailleur and i was like "WAIT DID I DO MINE WRONG TOO" ? So i go to youtube to check, i stumble on your video, i go "ah i did it right it seems let s check the comments" and now i have something to do when i get back home lmao. Good thing i can test the bike repair stand me and my dad made. Thank you to you and the original commenter, and seth from berm peak lmao. 🫡🤝

Hi mate, I know you're video is quite old but I've just had a good look at my olivio and it seems that my chain was assembled to it incorrectly. Have a look at the square plate between the two cogs on the derailleur and you'll find that the chain fits on top of it and not under. I've fitted mine on top and there's no grinding noise whatsoever 😂
Well thats something ive noticed since fitting. I actually bent the cage a while back and had the mech off to fix it, When re fitting I did notice the chain rub on the tab you mention. I actually have a brand new mech to fit as its still not right after getting bent. Will experiment with the chain route when I install it. Thanks for watching and the comment, Steve.
Hi, Steve thanks for uploading I have a crossfuse 9 gears and the jockey wheel cage got jammed and spread, out so the chain comes off the jockey wheel and because of the crap alinement its makes it the come off the front ring all the time .How much was your replacement ? and are you happy with it ,Thanks again for info your way better than Halfords regards Jon.
Hi John. My replacement is the alivio 9 speed I got it from halfords for about £26 I think. Very happy with it so far had no real issues. I will also be fitting a new 9speed cassette to my wheel as I have an issue with 9th gear jumping under pressure. I also plan on replacing the shifters. The current acera ones are ok but are looking a little shabby so I will be upgrading them to alivio soon. Keep an eye out for future videos. Thanks for watching. Atb Steve.
@@steveoutdoors5964 hi When you Installed the derailleur how did you know what position to tighten it at on the gear hanger Because I have the same one and it lets me swivel it add different angles
@@shamsta21 Hi what your describing is whats called B screw adjustments. This alters the angle of the rear mechanism., and sets the space between your cassette and upper jockey wheel. I would recommend searching videos by Park tool or or RJ bike guy for a good explanation on this adjustment. Sorry I can't give a clear answer as its one of those adjustments that's easier shown and explained visually. Thanks for watching and commenting. Atb Steve
@@steveoutdoors5964 ok thanks I see the thing is you know the second bolt on the derailleur that is below the mounting bolt I undid that and I'm not sure if I put all the parts back incorrectly which may be why mine is able to swivel around (the spring in the derailleur for that part pushes away instead of towards the b tension screw ) photos.app.goo.gl/eWzxnfQcZ3s8UMzm9 and also is the arm for yours completely straight because I can't tell if mine is bent or not because I have got nothing to compare to I can't find any images on google either photos.app.goo.gl/XHVPTDYjBQXzo2SA9 if it is bent I'm thinking I could take out the inner and outer plate and hammer them on a flat surface maybe to straighten them
@@shamsta21 Yea looking at your first picture it looks like you may have re assembled it wrong causing it to swivel. Ill take some pictures or video of mine and post the link. The cage on your second picture does appear to be slightly bent, however I personally wouldn't go hammering it back into shape as this could weaken it and cause it to snap. I would concentrate on getting the mechanism correctly. reassembled. The bend in the cage may not cause to much of an issue as long as the top wheel isn't damaged. I presume you have had an accident or the mechanism has been hit at some point ? What was your reason for dismantling it?
Yea that is correct. I did re fit the chain correctly afterwards .

Thanks for sharing this, I've just fitted the exact same derailleur and it was my first time adjusting one from scratch.
Glad you found my video useful.
4:56 always push the derailleur anticlockwise against the hanger tab before final tensioning to have it seated correctly.
Sure I did but not shown in video. Have since replaced this one as I bent it badly on a ride. Bike is now retired in favor of my new bike.
I think you should have left the chain on the back side of the derailleur cage. I can hear the chain is rubbing there.
Yes I did correct it afterwards.

Is that work for 8 speed
Sure it was a dedicated 9spd mech. 8 speed needing differnt model.

Цепь слишком короткая😂
No the chain length was correct. The bike is still in regular use and has had no issue's at all. Thanks for watching and taking time to comment.
The chain was fitted wrong on the rd. See lot of people make that mistake
Realised that a while back and rectified. Since the video have smashed and replaced the mech twice lol.
Been there too. 😂
