First Mountain Bike Ride of 2025. Sub Zero Temperatures
First Mountain Bike Ride of 2025. Sub Zero Temperatures.
My first bike outing of the year. Just a quick local but I do plan on getting out on the bike more this year. Yes I did say that last year but that stupid thumb injury really knocked me back and hampered my riding through the summer. I am looking forward to getting back up to Kielder and riding more trails up there. I'll also be heading back to the old faithful Chopwell and also Hamsterley . Also want to explore some other areas that i've not yet visited .

Still a bit rusty with the controls but really enjoying the neo. I'm sure i...

Cool video mate 👍
Cheers mate..You have to come n ride with me sometime.
Your video is truly beautiful and inspiring. As a fellow creator, I appreciate the effort you put into it. Sub & 👍8
Thank you really appreciate your kind words.
Just been looking at your channel..Not sure if you realise the connection my Video has to Canada. The monument was built in honour for the Earl of Durham John George Lambton (Radical Jack) he was the gentleman who set in motion Canada's Independence. His home/ family estate is near my home.
Looks like fun m8......... F#@king NOT! 😂 Great video m8... it was like watching call of duty.. 👍
Lol was brutal in the Santa game like..Serious fun though as always. Far better than playing a computer game. If ya ever fancy a try let me know..I have spare loadout.
Nice one Steve..... 👍 beautiful.... keep up the great work m8
Thanks mate. Can't wait to get over the lakes with the drone. But until then getting in some practice flights and the editing drone footage.
Thanks for showing us this Steve 🌞😎
Your welcome..Thanks for watching and commenting 👍.
where abouts is drift pit i went once to it but i cant remember where it was because it was when i came at the start, i know its at the bottom but where abouts at the bottom
It's difficult to explain. I know how to get to it rising what we call 4in1 where you link together 3/4 trails and Finnish in drift pit. If your on Facebook id recommended joining a group called Ride the North MTB. Good few chopwell regulars on there who will be able to direct you properly..I've not been to chopwell in a while but believe a lot of features have been removed from drift pit by the forestry people.
@ alright thanks man it’s just i haven’t been drift pit since the first or second time i’ve been to chopwell and i am trying to find it again thanks for the help i am going to join the group thank mate
I have a pair of defenders, I find them to not be that grippy do you find that?
Find them to do pretty decent job..I play a lot of Airsoft these days. Only times I've struggled for grip is on sloppy mud or on wet slippery wooden floors/ramps..
270 is probably the size...these look like the latest version...the best ones were the type before MkIV i think...the sole was stitched on...these are just glued on to some rubbery flakey rubbish. I had a pair of these ones...went back to the older style as these are not as durable. Mine came apart at the sole too...gargbage!
Yea these were great forma while. Now have altberg defender boots ..
Catbells is such a great hike in summer, the views are beautiful
Certainly is. Also did blencathra a couple weeks after we did catbells..Was pretty claggy unfortunately. Planning on doing lots more once weather improves and also some camps. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@ We haven’t been to Blencathra for quite a few years, but remember it been a great walk but pretty foggy near the top when we were there
@@ARG-Travel yea hope to get back this year on a clear day. I plan to do a few of the bigger peaks before I turn 50 in September. Also hope to do some wild camps this year once the weather improves..
It was a great first time! Enjoyed it and will be back in january
Yea was a good one. Maybe see you there sometime. Merry Christmas and all the best in the new year.
nice vid m8.. I might have to update my drone, quite like the look of the follow me feature. keep up the good work ATB & Merry Christmas Steve 👍
Cheers mate yea it's a cracking little drone although I am now tempted to get a bigger drone in future with a better camera.. The follow me mode is good but struggled on the tight turns and if I exceed 20mph on the bike so have to slow down..I actually had to go back about 3 times in that section but managed to salvage some usable footage for the sequence.. Hope to really push the channel more next year got lots I want to do. Merry Christmas to you and the family mate.
I have crashed a Mavic into a hotel by wind gust in Salt Lake, Utah, I have lost a mini 3 pro on top of a building in Portland, Oregon had a mini 3 ran over by a car after auto geo fence landing in Ontario, California and lost a mini 3 near Lake Shasta, Ca WiFi disconnected and lost a brand new neo near same lake, the drones are both close to the road but a steep angles prevents me from looking or getting close, I have tried a couple times however fence forest and lack of trails stops me I have to wait until spring now but am losing faith, I’m not sure how well the drones are made or if they will last for winter? I recommend you learn as much as you can about drone controllers and WiFi strength as much as you can before you fly out of sight, best of the best! ❤
Yea I'm keeping it within sensible range and learning all the time..Not taking any risks too soon. Hopefully you recover your drones. Thanks for watching n commenting. ATB Steve
How is dirty dog? Im going for the first time on sunday, really excited, a friend goes every other week with his dad and says its class.
Hi sorry didn't get notification of your comment..Hope you enjoyed dirty dog on Sunday if you went..I was there it was a cracking day as usual . The wind was a bit of a pain though.. I will be uploading some video from the day got some great footage during the Santa game and the free for all at the end of the day and should be live on Christmas day. All the best, Steve
@ Yes I did go! It was fantastic but next time i think i need to buy some proper boots, i went in trainers 😂
@@shearer.17 yea its not a good idea to go In trainers at any time of year to be honest. Just finished my edit of the day and it will be live on christmas day.
@ Yeah I realised 😂. I was at the last game of the day so ill have to see if i can spot myself in the video, have a good christmas eve
Hello mate great vid loads of detail great to see new routes being built just a quick question on parking at the castle carpark did you have to pay?
Yea mate it's £5 per day.. There's machines in the carpark just above the bike shop/hire place..I think the day tickets allow you to park in any of the carparks around the lakes. You can also pre pay via a website too. Thanks for watching mate.
Great video. I’m loving my Neo. For the price you can’t fault it. New sub
Thanks, it's a great bit of kit that will be really useful in my video production. Thanks for the sub.. 👍
I had a Mavic Mini 1 for my first proper camera drone and I was out with family and walked around a local lake a few miles away from home, I looked for any hazards and missed a few communication cables spanning across the lake, of course, I hit one of them! The drone recovered and it was all caught on video on my it channel in slow motion, my heart was in my mouth lol. I have also crashed into numerous spikey bushes or tall grasses, but the crashes are getting fewer :). I have the Mini 2 and now the Neo with Goggles N3, Motion Controller 3 and the FPV Controller 3 for when I learn FPV flight :) Happy flying
Built like little tanks these thing's lol. I'm really enjoying using it. Thanks for watching n commenting. I'll take a look at your videos 👍
@@steveoutdoors5964 Yes I have watched a few videos where someone deliberately crashed the Neo onto the grass from 400ft and then onto the concrete and it mostly survived. With NT to be honest I have sometimes taken off and landed when in my view the number of people in there is very low and it is not bird breeding season, I have then gone up to 400ft got my pics, 360 view etc and landed again without any issues, obviously a NT House or mansion is a different matter, but I have flown over some castles when they have closed to the public for the day. I need to edit and post more videos, life has been too busy for my hobby :(
@@woodydroneson yea tell me about it. Making videos takes time. Many people don't realise the work that goes into doing an edit.
Amo questo drone !
See it’s your first drone I’d suggest a few lessons before you fly chap
And what is that going to cost me? Think I'll just get more time in on the controls. I mean this was only my second time out with it. I'm learning new things all the time. And at least it's a robust drone and can handle the odd crash. Thanks for watching
Great video Steve👍..... you'll get the hang of the drone quick enough 😉
Cheers mate, as I said in the video I only used it for a couple hours in total and much of that in the auto modes without controllers. It's a cracking little drone that is pretty capable. It's going to add some great footage to my future videos.
So far, I love this little drone. If there was one thing I could change, it would be the noise. But it is what it is. Great product for the price. Thanks for the video! Since there will be many new pilots getting the Neo who may not know how to recover it if lost, this will be a helpful video to watch.
Look at getting a new 5 blade prop called Gemfan, while they may not be any less quiet the pitch is much lower and makes it sound much more quiet
@@gregb1599 ive seen these and may be getting some in the coming months to try out. After crashing and damaging a prop i feel i should stock up on spares lol.
Yea i think i may make a video dedicated to using this feature. thanks for watching.
@steveoutdoors5964 They are a real pain to fit, as they need either longer screws or a very, very careful drill the holes deeper so that just the screw thread is poking out. I luckily had 2 sets of 4 so I could practice drilling the holes to the right diameter and depth. And don't forget the thread lock!
Glad it works I can see myself needing it one day
Yea wasn't intending on using it but pleased it works so well lol.. Thanks for watching n commenting.
Really enjoy your content. So I assume you are using your mobile phone when you do the shots with a view up high? Kind Regards from Australia. Edit: ignore my question, wrote it before I saw your controller. Can relate to your videos as I have a Mini 4 Pro, Avata 2 and Neo. I'm 53 years of age myself and I'm really in awe of your fitness level. I wouldn't be capable of the bike riding. Inherited arthritis is slowing me down these days to the point a short walk is pretty significant, so just wanted to tell you, you are really maximising life. I look forward to your future content. 🙂 Kind Regards David
Thank you I really appreciate your kind words.. I'm starting to suffer with joint pain but am determined to keep on doing stuff as long as possible.. I once read a quote that I hope live by "add life to your years not years to your life" . Im at a point in my life where I don't want to look back and think I wish I had done. I am hoping to hike the big fells of the lake district before my 50th and also intend on doing some wild camping along the way. Thanks for watching and commenting. All the best Steve..
Brother, keep on doing what you love. Its what drives you. @steveoutdoors5964
Absolutely a fantastic site my favourite
Only played one other site and it was Pretty poor in comparison. Thanks for watching n commenting.
I just got my DJI OA3 Today, will follow your settings saved on my profile, haven't used it yet but hopefully tomorrow if it's not too Hot outside, watching here in the Philippines, cheers Mate!
Thanks for watching..These settings seem to work ok but you do need to brighten up and add saturation during editing as the d cinilike is a flat colour profile..If you edit in programs like Davinci Resolve you can add luts that will give a good colour grade..If you don't want to get too in depth with colour grading then the auto settings with stabilisation priority gives good results in most situations.
Fantastic site
Certainly is. Hope to do a site tour video series in future utilizing drone.
Thanks for your video Steve. Enjoyed it. Going to get out on my mtb with the Neo as soon as weather permits. It’ll be interesting to see what the next firmware brings. (followed 😊)
Thanks for watching and commenting, Nice to get these comments. I have more to come. Yea some mixed feedback I'm seeing on current firmware so hopefully the issues get sorted I've so far had no problems with it. Thanks for the sub
Broke my prop , replaced it and now goves the code for the esc or a bound motor. Spewd canned air into it. A no go.
Sounds bad. Hope you have DJI Refresh. I flew mins a little after the prop broke and got a motor overload warning and forced landing. But it's working fine with the new prop fitted. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Follow tracking is amazing for the price. A year or two more and there'll probably be 50mph follow mode for motorcyclists.
@@girlinagale Yea I'm pretty happy with it so far.. Was thinking of getting a drone a few year ago but the models with tracking were well out of my budget. Tech is getting better all the time and more affordable. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@steveoutdoors5964 Yes a couple of years ago I looked into DJI Mavic for £700 but no follow mode.
Can pick up some fresh props online for quite cheap! Loved the footage though, just got a Mini 2 SE but I think a Neo might be needed at some point in time! Cute little things aren't they haha 🤣
Yea have some spares that came with the neo and more on the way. It's a cracking little drone I'm really impressed with it..Just been away for couple days and captured some footage and photos while out on a walk around some lakes. Thanks for watching and talking time to comment. Steve.
@@steveoutdoors5964 Legend! Definitely earned a subscriber mate!
@thekingofmeerkats thanks appreciate the sub.
I crashed it too many times and it survived easily
Yea pretty sure the prop damage was due to a twig or something getting into the guard.
Was great to see you, no doubt we will meet up again soon! Take care atb Trev.
I'm sure we will mate. Looking forward to your future video's. ATB Steve.
Hi mate was looking at these for me camping shots in van steve .just the drone like no controller..not as rich as you😂. Let me know what it’s like after a proper trial .. ps does it save video straight to ya phone with sound??
Alright matey how's things. It's a great bit of gear. All the footage on this video was done using the auto modes and the app. The video is recorded onto the drones internal memory and can be transferred to phones tablet using the app that also has a video editor. The drone itself won't record sound as all it would record is the sound of the props/motors. Through both the phone app or the remote you can record audio through your phones mic that will cancel out the sound of the drone. I would highly recommend getting the full kit I did with 3 battery charger and remote. As the single battery will only get you about 15mins on average. Each additional battery is £35 and the charger hub that charges all 3 is about £30 when purchased separately. So buying the combo is the best route to be honest. Recorded more today while out on my bike with it following me and it did canny. Only issue is tight bends if it loses you it just stops n hovers.
@ cool mate wanted a one te circle round van when on remote trips cheers for advice pal might get a one off Santa
ive been looking at these steve, get a vid on ya bike see how it goes following you down a trail!
Will be doing one at some point. They just did an update yesterday and increased the tracking apps from 14t mph to about 20mph.
Have you done the latest update that came out on Thursday? Pretty sure it tips out at about 20mph now. I'm sure it will cope with my rides .
@@steveoutdoors5964 Not sure if he's done the upgrade yet.
@@OldCodgersmtb I'll be trying it out tomorrow with the bike. Will be posting a video showing results.
The burn goes through there ive never went through it just wondering have you had a look at the burn and did you see any fish if you've had a look.
Didn't take a lot of notice to be honest although it's pretty shallow and rocky in most parts I remember. There possibly is fish as that are in Lumley/Herrington burn.
Your settings spot on Steve looks great..Nice to see ya back out on ya bike after your lay off😂

Get yourself to Bluebell Lakes for a 24hour they have some absolute monsters 60lb++, also if you like Carp and Catfish Elvington Fisheries have some big Cats definitely worth a look. I would go there lots when i lived in York also i was part of Poolbridge Farm Syndicate on Q lake for a coupleof years. Also Raker Lakes is good near York. Always wanted to go to try for Sturgeon there is a place in Catterick i have been told. You plan on getting back out on your bike? I am about to strip and rebuild mine ready going to need some new Jockey wheels and the rest, its all Eagle XO1 stuff so i am crying atm.😅
Yea will be back out on the bike soon. Who knows where my fishing will take me. Just sticking with local waters for now and see how it goes. Noticed a few big fish waters have appeared with imported fish stocked at big weights. Not my thing to be honest. My current uk pb is 20lb 12oz mirror and 17lb common the lake im looking at fishing has fish just a bit bigger and have naturally grown to that size in the lake. Similar fishing to hat i did back in the 90s and ill be using the same rods n reels.
@@steveoutdoors5964 over 20lb is nothing to be sniffed at its a good size fish. My carp UK pb is 42lbs and cat is 56lb. The Cat is over 65lb now seeing others have had it out at Elvington Fisheries. I haven't been able to find any good specimen lakes near Durham with any Carp anywhere near 30lb+ unfortunately but I bet some people know where there is. Problem is when you want tp go fosh for the larger ones its nearly always a syndicate water. Where are the new lakes you have seen and what weights are they upto? You ever tried fly fishing? My brother has had some good size salmon out the River Wear in the past some good eating.
Yea a northeastt 20 is a good fish and in no hurry for anything much bigger. For big carp in the northeast there's not a lot. I believe the QE 2 up ashington has 30s also tees Valley lakes. There's also carrs lakes complex down teesside they opened legend lake that has a few big fish carp and cats but not seen good reviews of the place. I suspect this is stocked with imported fish and some have died. Near Durham Brasside was always a good lake back in the day..its now spilt into 3 or 4 lakes now with fish to low 20s.
@@steveoutdoors5964 the lakes over Brasside are they not Durham Anglers waters? Will have a look at the other places not.keen on the imported one but the others sound good, anything around 30s would be spot on.
