Joe, you inspire those of us who are artist to get better and better.I am a painter and now volunteer once a week to teach at the local Senior Center. After only 4 weeks of classes, I see a difference in the people who are there learning the basics of painting. Since I am a Senior myself, I know the value of art and its impact on our life. That is what I am trying to give back because I am blessed with the talent to do both the Bob Ross painting technique, portraits, and several other mediums. Now however, I am embarking on murals! I have begun on the outside wall of my barn. It is coming along okay but after watching your UA-cam lessons, I am sure I will be able to get the more detailed work down much better. Thank you for sharing your talent and inspiring us all to be better and to learn more about our gift.
Its a very joyfull and dreaming scenery - just watching you paint brings me into states of imagination and pure joy. - Thank you so much for your inspiring sharing
Hey Joe, bald or golden, the eagle is wonderful! Great painting tips--it's amazing to see the leaf suddenly appear where just a second before it looked like a paint smear. Really love the look of the "dreamy" leaves in the foreground.
I am loving your tutorials on your techniques.. I SUBSCRIBED!! I will watch much more of your work.. you motivate me!! I just want to try what your doing on individual pictures to see if I can make the magic happen... you do so well.. thank you for explaining your color theory.. it is very very very helpful... thank you for your time you invested making the videos and taking time to do it.. I am sure your projects would go faster if you were not also creating lesson videos... but this is good stuff.. and we appreciate it!!
Ok I think I see what your saying. That purple hue is the shadow color of the redish colored dirt that we have so much of here in Az. It's so low in saturation that it makes a nice deep shadow color and the little bit of red in it contrasts with the green leaves to help them pop out. It's a fun color combo to use.. orange dirt with purple gray shadows. You can mix that shadow color with just black, white and a little red.
Working on a mural in a closet for my 5 year old grandson and can't wait to put in some foliage and clouds! Thanks for the videos! Still trying to digest the perspective one~
You are amazing! I am just starting out on walls by doing my own home. No fear, just figure I can paint over anything I don't like. Keep up the very informative and instructive videos please, they are so helpful. You will be going places! God Bless You.
Oh yeah, thanks. It's a loew Cornell 1" synthetic that I found at Michaels. It was pretty used up after this job. I've always used this type of brush for the more intricate details.
Love your work...I am trying lol ..lots of mistakes..repaint gradients start over ...but I love love the way you teach ..thanks you so much for what you do ..
Thank you !!! I have learnt a lot with you. I do not understand all what you say (my English is poor...) but I can see what you do. Very good teacher !
Hey there Joe! Big fan of your work and amazing techniques. I have painted one mural professionally, and am now onto an even larger one inside a new sports complex. There are so many questions I'd love to ask but one that I think is majorly important, what have you found to be the best paint/ primer brands available? I am worried about this especially because objects will be thrown at this mural as well as it being on a very shiny, smooth surface ( "glass board") that I am now sanding.. in order to get bonding primer to stick to it.. any suggestions you may have would be awesome!! I truly enjoy your work it is fantastic and I wish you all the best of success
I love the sound effects you make. I'll bet you are even better at it when the camera is not rolling. I do it too and it makes a world of difference. You should do a video on it. "How sound effects improve your strokes."
so grateful to have find your videos. I'm doing a mural of a tree... something I saw online, and it's very flat and designey, and now client wants me to add more color to the trunk... watched that video (wonderful, ty!), and now I'm hooked! love your voice, and the way you just work instead of talking and no working! lots of vids are too talky, yours is just right! it would be nice to know a little more abt the background behind the last leaves, purple color?
hey joe, awesome job. you mention how you like the brush you're using b/c of the sharp edge you can get, what kind of brush is that? I'm used to seeing you use the Purdy's.
Hi :) love your work!! I was wondering where did you get that brush?is that your 'detailing brush' you mention in another video(the one with the kids riding the horses)?
It's from Michael's, an arts and craft supply store. I also found cheap imitations at Walmart that I like. I be leave they're called sable hair brushes. There are many different issues and lengths and angles but I like them all
I would love to talk with you in a more personal setting like, over skype, or over the phone. I feel we have a lot in common, but my mural is way smaller. I could send you pics or a video of what I've done and where I'm struggling? you would be a great help. I have no one to turn to when I'm having a "block" or can't seem to mix my colors the way I imagine it to be. I just realized!oh need some help please. potential future jobs are on the line, and I'm ready to make this a full time career.
