Wow. That would be so fun to have that big of a wall to paint on. You were really able to make that space feel so elegant yet so vibrate beautiful very good energy there. Sort of a weird thing i always think about when painting in someone elses home, is its sort of like when you cook a big meal for someone and the energy and love you have and place into what your making, infuses the food....or the art work your painting, bringing that love to the people, ( or the space the art is in) your sharing it with anyone who eats or absorbs that view and feeling it holds from what you put into it, your thoughts your thinking as you create your artwork are reproduced into those who see or get to enjoy it on a daily basis. I think your murals hold that passion and love within you, and it spreads to those its seen by. Pretty cool love and kindness spread so simply like that...sort of endless and if anything grows.

Lol. I took a big breath in when I saw you change all those trees, and then laughed, because I paint in acrylics/latex and can't tell you how often I completely changed the painting by the time I was done! haha. I didn't know that I could paint till I was 49 years old, and am still doing murals now that I'm 59, but It's hard on my legs and feet climbing up and down ladders, so I don't know how long I can do it. It's such fun to watch you work!

    Hi Joe,
    My name is Stephanie,
I'm a muralist in south Florida. It is so funny how you go thru the same things I do. My customer just yesterday walked by me and mumbled "what the hell is she doing?"
I love when I come all the way down from my scaffolding to get something and forget what I came down for so I go all the way back up, then I remember !!
Oh I have to tell you a few years ago my scaffolding fell down the stairs with me and a few open cans of paint on it !!
Thanks again for letting us all have an intense view of your techniques they have helped me so much.

I love watching you paint and learning new ideas/ techniques from you. I am a beginning watercolor surf/ surfing artist. I painted for many years since a child and just stopped one day 15 years ago cause I was surfing so much. I recently started painting again doing surf/ beach related art and enjoy learning from you and enjoy everything recent technology has brought to painting that Iv never had in the past (like you tube, computers etc.).

The change in contrast 4:42 with the trees, and the mist, the depth, omg... Amazing to behold.
You are an actual real life artist, like all the greats, the real actual deal.
Looking like a bit of a stoner in the beginning (if I may), and then you produce that. First class.

    Dude, you are absolutely amazing.
So far I've only painted on canvas', but the owner of the house I'm working on wants a mural on her domed ceiling. I'm here doing research.
Your homeowner's comments are exactly why I never tell anyone what I'm painting before I paint it. I don't want them forming ideas in their mind on what it should look like.
    Anyways, definitely subscribing.

that one was great to watch and turned out fantastic! . I did a mural the summer of 2014. it had been 16 years since I had painted but it turned out really cool. it was a diorama of a train track bridge spanning a crevasse between two mountains and a waterfall and it was going to have an actual model train added as well .

ENJOYED the part where the owner tells you that the mural needs to look more "Tuscany". I can totally relate. While painting a mural, it's always some passerby's constructive critique that sticks in my head and drives me crazy, as I spend the next couple hours frustratedly grasping for ideas feeling like I only have three solutions, --and can't commit to any of them. Great honesty. Thanks .

Thank you so much! Metals like cadmium or titanium are just used because they are dense and cover well, I think. The main issue with different paints to me is how well they cover which also relates To how potent they are for mixing but the color mixing is still always the same. My current favorite water base paints for my interior murals are in my video, How to Paint - Color Theory.

Yes, it's a true artist to goof around and paint your nails before getting down to biz, to paint with brush sizes you're not "supposed" to use, and have the humility needed to HEAR the critiques of others and to actually give them what they want when all the while you have ideas of your own. I'm so impressed, thank you for the lesson. "I really don't know what I am doing" LOL Me too! BTW it's beautiful ;D So glad you didn't fall off the ladder!!
