Give Me an Answer - If All Religions Are Equally Valid, Does God Exist? or Does God Even CARE?

  • Program 1921 ................... - Who is God? - Contradictions? - Relativism
The "Give Me An Answer" ministry began as an outgrowth of the dialogues Cliffe Knechtle has had with students on various university campuses throughout the United States. These universities include the University of Maine, Harvard, MIT, University of Florida, University of Texas, University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, University of California Los Angeles, University of California San Diego, Berkeley, Stanford, University of Hawaii and the University of Washington. Cliffe spoke on these campuses in front of the Student Union or Library at noon for five to ten minutes. At the close of his initial remarks, he'd open up the time for questions and answers, which usually turned into a two to four hour dialogue with students. His crowd size ranged from 25 - 500 students at a time, and between classes, new students would join the discussion. This is an extremely effective way to reach a large number of university students with the Gospel of Christ.

@@ramptonarsecandle it's not about murdering children. it is only a test of faith to see if Abraham would obey God even if it means that he would let go of the thing that he always wanted to have. and at the end in verses 11 and 12, it says, "Just then the angel of the LORD called out to him from heaven, “Abraham, Abraham!”
. “Here I am,” he replied. “Do not lay a hand on the boy or do anything to him,” said the angel, “for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your only son from me.” "
God sent an angel to stop Abraham from killing his son proving that God's intention wasn't to kill Isaac, it was to measure Abraham's faith. God obviously doesn't want Abraham to murder his son, God's intention was to test Abraham if he is worthy to receive the promises that God declared.

You can immediately dismantle any kind of statement like "everything is subjective" by simply asking, "is it objectively true that everything is subjective". The objective denier instantly self defeats and contradicts his own statement by making an objective statement to deny objectivity.

      @panes840 2 роки тому +4

      Agreed 👍🏼

    • @justiny2215
      @justiny2215 Рік тому

Not really, the problem is that subjective is not the same as relative. " Is it objectively true that everything is relative?" If you say yes that you just contradiction yourself.
But everything is subjective is a sound statement. Subjective just means something is defined with a particular set of rules. So what's subjective? It's those things subject to rules. Objective means those rules are set to an object. So a painting can be subjectively good and objectively good. Morals can be objective and subjective. Example in what we call "Universal values" those are values that can be seen objectively. On the other hand Moral is subjective not objective because morals are rules of a society that are deemed good or bad. So morals are subject to the rules of a society, while universal values are a set of objects that can be observed.
Example one universal values is civismo or civis virtue. Civismo is the act of being on the look out for other citizens in your country and help them lived and work day to day. You can see how civismo is has and objective to be met. That it's what makes it objective. It's clear and set, it doesn't change according to anyone.
Now stealing is a subjective action. It can be good or bad according to different people and it's meaning can change. For someone stealing is taking things without announcing them, as long as you say " I am taking this" you can take whatever you want.
So yeah, obviously not everything is subjective,. because we have objective values in life for different things. A boat can have objective values to determine it's hull integrity. Those values are objective, they will tell you if the hull meets the objective of working capacity.
So, everything is not subjective, but a lot of things are both subjective and objective.
The problem is people use relative and subjective thinking they are saying the same thing.

If you have an issue, as a Muslim, with Christ’s death because you don’t believe he would allow an innocent to suffer, remember that the sacrificial lambs were required to be without blemish.
Remember the Passover and how it began. Christ told us that the Passover meal is his body and blood poured out for us, and to eat of it (to accept and partake in what he did).
Yes, he suffered, but it was for the highest cause, and now he is at the right hand of the most high, and we each have an invitation to join Him.
Remember when Abraham showed that he would sacrifice his only son to God? A sacrifice was provided in his place - stuck to a tree. Abraham is the father of faith, and his offspring the child of the promise. As Abraham was prepared to give his only son, God instead gave His. That isn’t weakness, it’s a display of immense love and power.

Cliffe seems to be a quality debator, but I do disagree with him on one point. He said he respects Mohammed because Islam has alms for the poor and is monotheistic rather than polytheistic. I believe that Mohammed was an utterly corrupt conman who associated himself with existing religions which had credibility (judaism & christianity) in order to set himself up as a supposed prophet. He needed to retain some help for the poor only for show to present a good face (2% zakat tax on income for muslims rather than 10% tithe common amongst jews & christians). The evils Mohammed did far outweigh any nominal showing of compassion as he was actually a warlord and a tyrant indulging in murder and slavery including sex slaves. Listen to some David Wood videos to see what muslim writings said about that monster fake prophet.

This perspectove of Muhammad is from sunni books, not shia. If you look at the shia books, Muhammad is represented as this pious knowledgable perfect human being. In sunni books, the disrespect to the Prophet is alot, making alot of people out of the muslim community to question what Muhammad really did. Also, Muhammad didnt need to ve a Jew to be a Prophet. In fact, the Jews were the ones who killed the Prophets, such as Prophet Yahya otherwise known as John the Baptist.

    • @MarkHunterSolo
      @MarkHunterSolo 10 місяців тому

@@Hussރ True enough that the Jews killed their own prophets. Jesus said as much in the parable of the wicked tenants where God finally sends them his Son in the hope that they will respect him (see Mark chapter 12). This is echoed in the Book of Hebrews chapter 1 “On many past occasions and in many different ways, God spoke to our fathers through the prophets. But in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom He made the universe”.
The prophets ended with Christ the Son of God as Jesus was God’s final Word to mankind. Mohammed was a fraud and an anti-Christ to deny that Jesus was the Son of God. The truth was that Mohammed couldn’t compete with that…

"If you love me, keep My commandments." Jesus said this, so let's always remember that to stay away from sin, follow the law. I pray for every Atheist or struggling Christian out there because we can all get confused at times and we misunderstand God at times. But you should always remember that having an open mind to communicate with a stranger can be beneficial, so is having an open mind to communicating with God. When I felt lonely at times in my room at university, which I am a loner, knowing about God not only gives me a peace of mind, but it helps me know that I'm not completely alone. And faith in Jesus is trusting that He is truly with me in all my woes and celebrations, despite that I physically celebrate those alone. So whilst people say people create God so they don't feel lonely, that is not true. I feel lonely so God draws me to Him, why? Because He loves me, wants me to know that though I am physically alone, in my heart, He is with me. I feel that most Atheist think that lives of believers are all fairy tales, but to be honest, we have a had time being moral at times. But Jesus, having lived, died and risen, we know we can do it because He guarantees us that we can do it with Him as the template of how to live a life that benefits us through loving God and our neighbours. Spread repentance and love. Spread there gospel of His coming and the good news of Salvation.

    😁Give me an answer
    1) “Where did Jesus give instructions that the Christian faith should be based exclusively on a book?”
    2) “Other than the specific command to John to pen the Revelation, where did Jesus tell His apostles to write anything down and compile it into an authoritative book?”
    3) “Where in the New Testament do the apostles tell future generations that the Christian faith will be based solely on a book?”
    4) “some Protestants claim that Jesus condemned all oral tradition (e.g., Matt 15:3, 6; Mark 7:813). If so, why does He bind His listeners to oral tradition by telling them to obey the scribes and Pharisees when they “sit on Moses’ seat” (Matt 23:2)?”
    5) “Some Protestants claim that St. Paul condemned all oral tradition (Col 2:8). If so, why does he tell the Thessalonians to “stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word of mouth or by letter” (2 Thes 2:15) and praises the Corinthians because they “hold firmly to the traditions” (1 Cor 11:2)? (And why does the Protestant NIV change the word “tradition” to “teaching”?)”
    6) “If the authors of the New Testament believed in sola Scriptura, why did they sometimes draw on oral Tradition as authoritative and as God’s Word (Matt 2:23; 23:2; 1 Cor 10:4; 1 Pet 3:19; Jude 9, 14 15)?”
    7) “Where in the Bible is God’s Word restricted only to what is written down?”
    8) “How do we know who wrote the books that we call Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts, Hebrews, and 1, 2, and 3 John?”
    9) “On what authority, or on what principle, would we accept as Scripture books that we know were not written by one of the twelve apostles?”
    10) “Where in the Bible do we find an inspired and infallible list of books that should belong in the Bible? (e.g., Is the Bible’s Table of Contents inspired?)”
    11) “How do we know, from the Bible alone, that the individual books of the New Testament are inspired, even when they make no claim to be inspired?”
    12) “How do we know, from the Bible alone, that the letters of St. Paul, who wrote to first-century congregations and individuals, are meant to be read by us as Scripture 2000 years later?”
    13) “Where does the Bible claim to be the sole authority for Christians in matters of faith and morals?”
    14) “Most of the books of the New Testament were written to address very specific problems in the early Church, and none of them are a systematic presentation of Christian faith and theology. On what biblical basis do Protestants think that everything that the apostles taught is captured in the New Testament writings?”
    15) “If the books of the New Testament are “self-authenticating” through the ministry of the Holy Spirit to each individual, then why was there confusion in the early Church over which books were inspired, with some books being rejected by the majority?”
    16) “If the meaning of the Bible is so clear-so easily interpreted-and if the Holy Spirit leads every Christian to interpret it for themselves, then why are there over 33,000 Protestant denominations, and millions of individual Protestants, all interpreting the Bible differently?”
    17) “Who may authoritatively arbitrate between Christians who claim to be led by the Holy Spirit into mutually contradictory interpretations of the Bible?”
    18) “Since each Protestant must admit that his or her interpretation is fallible, how can any Protestant in good conscience call anything heresy or bind another Christian to a particular belief?”
    19) “Protestants usually claim that they all agree “on the important things.” Who is able to decide authoritatively what is important in the Christian faith and what is not?”
    20) “How did the early Church evangelize and overthrow the Roman Empire, survive and prosper almost 350 years, without knowing for sure which books belong in the canon of Scripture?”
    21) “Who in the Church had the authority to determine which books belonged in the New Testament canon and to make this decision binding on all Christians? If nobody has this authority, then can I remove or add books to the canon on my own authority?”
    22) “Why do Protestant scholars recognize the early Church councils at Hippo and Carthage as the first instances in which the New Testament canon was officially ratified, but ignore the fact that those same councils ratified the Old Testament canon used by the Catholic Church today but abandoned by Protestants at the Reformation?”
    23) “Why do Protestants follow postapostolic Jewish decisions on the boundaries of the Old Testament canon, rather than the decision of the Church founded by Jesus Christ?”
    24) “How were the bishops at Hippo and Carthage able to determine the correct canon of Scripture, in spite of the fact that they believed all the distinctively Catholic doctrines such as the apostolic succession of bishops, the sacrifice of the Mass, Christ’s Real Presence in the Eucharist, baptismal regeneration, etc?”
    25) “If Christianity is a “book religion,” how did it flourish during the first 1500 years of Church history when the vast majority of people were illiterate?”
    26) “How could the Apostle Thomas establish the church in India that survives to this day (and is now in communion with the Catholic Church) without leaving them with one word of New Testament Scripture?”
    27) “If sola Scriptura is so solid and biblically based, why has there never been a full treatise written in its defense since the phrase was coined in the Reformation?”
    28) “If Jesus intended for Christianity to be exclusively a “religion of the book,” why did He wait 1400 years before showing somebody how to build a printing press?”
    29) “If the early Church believed in sola Scriptura, why do the creeds of the early Church always say “we believe in the Holy Catholic Church,” and not “we believe in Holy Scripture”?”
    30) “If the Bible is as clear as Martin Luther claimed, why was he the first one to interpret it the way he did and why was he frustrated at the end of his life that “there are now as many doctrines as there are heads”?”
    31) “The time interval between the Resurrection and the establishment of the New Testament canon in AD 382 is roughly the same as the interval between the arrival of the Mayflower in America and the present day. Therefore, since the early Christians had no defined New Testament for almost four hundred years, how did they practice sola Scriptura?”
    32) “If the Bible is the only foundation and basis of Christian truth, why does the Bible itself say that the Church is the pillar and foundation of truth (1 Tim. 3:15)?”
    33) “Jesus said that the unity of Christians would be objective evidence to the world that He had been sent by God (John 17:20-23). How can the world see an invisible “unity” that exists only in the hearts of believers?”
    34) “If the unity of Christians was meant to convince the world that Jesus was sent by God, what does the ever-increasing fragmentation of Protestantism say to the world?”
    35) “Hebrews 13:17 says, “Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you.” What is the expiration date of this verse? When did it become okay not only to disobey the Church’s leaders, but to rebel against them and set up rival churches?”
    36) “The Koran explicitly claims divine inspiration, but the New Testament books do not. How do you know that the New Testament books are nevertheless inspired, but the Koran is not?”
    37) “How does a Protestant know for sure what God thinks about moral issues such as abortion, masturbation, contraceptives, eugenics, euthanasia, etc.?”
    38) “What is one to believe when one Protestant says infants should be baptized (e.g., Luther and Calvin) and another says it is wrong and unbiblical (e.g., Baptists and Evangelicals)?”
    39) “Where does the Bible say God created the world/universe out of nothing?”
    40) “Where does the Bible say salvation is attainable through faith alone?”
    41) “Where does the Bible tell us how we know that the revelation of Jesus Christ ended with the death of the last Apostle?”
    42) “Where does the Bible provide a list of the canonical books of the Old Testament?”
    43) “Where does the Bible provide a list of the canonical books of the New Testament?”
    44) “Where does the Bible explain the doctrine of the Trinity, or even use the word “Trinity”?”
    45) “Where does the Bible tell us the name of the “beloved disciple”?”
    46) “Where does the Bible inform us of the names of the authors of the Gospel of Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John?”
    47) “Where does the Bible [tell us] who wrote the Book of Acts?”
    48) “Where does the Bible tell us the Holy Spirit is one of the three Persons of the Trinity?”
    49) “Where does the Bible tell us Jesus Christ was both fully God and fully man from the moment of conception (e.g. how do we know His Divinity wasn’t infused later in His life?) and/or tells us Jesus Christ is One Person with two complete natures, human and Divine and not some other combination of the two natures (i.e., one or both being less than complete)?”
    50) “Where does the Bible that the church should, or someday would be divided into competing and disagreeing denominations?”
    51) “Where does the Bible that Protestants can have an invisible unity when Jesus expected a visible unity to be seen by the world (see John 17)?”
    52) “Where does the Bible tell us Jesus Christ is of the same substance of Divinity as God the Father?”

The fact that Killing babies is wrong is not a truth that takes much thought to parse out. You just know it instinctively. @Daniel Mullings That is part of it but it is more complicated than that. I would not expect them to understand the things that he tells them that they should study and research their self. My point is mainly about objective morals. They seem to have a blind spot when it comes to moral relativism as opposed to object moralism. They do not seem to be able to get their hands around the fact that Moral absolutes demand morality which is constant and unchanging as opposed to moral relativism that cam be created by you are a consensus of men. They some how do not understand that if we make our own morals we can change them. Even if it is not overnight but bit by bit until they have moved all the way to the other side of what they thought was once right is now wrong. Who are they to tell anyone what is right are wrong when they are the one that made it up. Who died and mad them God. See what I am getting at. If we have no benchmark in which to test our morals on. No absolute law if you will. Then anyone is moral with whatever he chooses to call moral. Like a Hitler in 1930's Germany. I do not need a consensus of men to tell men Killing babies is wrong, because to me it is a moral absolute, but with moral relativism who is to call Hitler out for what he did to the Jews or killing babies? Hope that make sense.

I am not blind to the fact that moral relativism is relative. However, I think you take it down a weird path.
"Who are they to tell anyone what is right are wrong when they are the one that made it up," Me a person that they share this reality with. I base my morality on wellbeing. This choice is subjective, but once I use it as a base, I can make objective statements and critiques of their actions based on that. I personally hold value in the well-being of the other people. Therefore I don't think they should be genocided. How do I convince them? Depends on the person, but many arguments can be made on why one should care about others.
"I do not need a consensus of men to tell men Killing babies is wrong, because to me it is a moral absolute, but with moral relativism who is to call Hitler out for what he did to the Jews or killing babies?" Since I do not believe in moral absolutes, I obviously disagree. While I agree that killing babies is immoral, and should be legislated against a strong feeling is not the same as Truth.
I do not need the consensus of the bible to tell me what's right and wrong, just think and decide for myself. For example, I hold that slavery is immoral, even though the bible expressly condones it. Same thing with situational genocide.

I comepletely understand what the kid was trying to say.
I have a theory about islam...
My theory is that islam was actually christianity beign taught to a different language and the differences came to be in translation. I belive that mohamed tried to teach scripture in his own interpretation because of the language berrier made his theology switch in fundamentals...
For example... When islam says jesus wasnt crucified it only appeared to be...
Maybe what it means that he wasnt killed by others will but it was Gods will all along..
But then you explain it in arabic, and theres no escape but to take it literal.. spliting one fundemental belief into 2 different ones..
I think that mohamed was some kind of joseph smith or JW type thing.. where they scratched their head on thing they didnt understand... And decided to interpret themselves, and ended up with a whole different theology.
For example mohamed could have learned that theres only One God from scripture... But not understand the trinity and no way to understand it because his mind works in his first language wich makes it imposible to mean trinity= 1 ...
Give it hundreds of years more and the gap expands.

In the Bible it clearly states that one is not saved by grace alone. St. Paul says this and says that you are saved by your works and by believing in Christ. Believing in Christ means that you do all that he says and that you love him just as he said he wants you to. Christ himself says if you love me you will do my will. His will is then stated to be the commandments. If you don’t believe anything or part of what I have said, you haven’t read the Bible.

    • @godislove363

It’s like trying to convince someone who won’t believe you that they have cancer but you know for a fact they do. If God exists (which he does) than not telling others would be horribly evil because you would be passively allowing people to go to hell for all eternity. Eternity is a long time and people really need to start taking that seriously.

Father- that's God, Son- that's the flesh man Mary birthed, and Holy Spirit - that's God.. as a matter of fact The Holy Spirit and the father are the same being... God is a spirit... How is this a plan of redemption from a fair and just God?

Most people in here probably grew up in a religious family, not everyone has that and it’s really hard to get into and understand religion when you didn’t grow up with it, However it isn’t hard to accept it into your life. But when your so focused on just being able to live because if you don’t get an essay in by 12 and you fail the class, religion just fades out and it’s one of the last things you want to worry about.

If anyone on here atheist Baptist Mormon Catholic says that they are perfect for since they are good in the sense that we understand the definition of good is lying because no one is perfect except for Christ as he walked this Earth and now he took on our sins but he also never send and he is perfect we are not it is only through his righteousness that closed us at the day of judgment that will give us the opportunity of Heaven because we gave our hearts to him and he closed us with his righteousness so don't worry anyone that holds Judgment of others or if telling everyone they're perfect and we just for that God bless you have a wonderful day.
