- On February 10th & 11th 2020 i was invited to the launch of the New MAN TGX, TGS, TGM, & TGL in Bilbao Spain. This was a huge event with hundreds of invited guests enjoying a three course meal, and live music as we all waited for the big reveal of their New Truck Generation.
This is their most significant launch in 20 year's, and they have also taken over Bilbao Exhibition Centre for 7 weeks with 50 test trucks available for customers, technicians, and journalists to check out and test drive.
I took the TGX 18.640 for a test drive, with 3,000 Nm from it's straight 6 cylinder 15.2 litre diesel engine, let's see how it performs on the road!

I remember going to work with my dad back in the 90s when he was a HGV driver hence why even though I’m not a truck driver I love trucks. But looking at these latest models, I can’t believe how luxurious modern wagons have become. They must be a pleasure to drive.
Great stuff as always!!! I am also amazed by the fact that a CEO would sit down in a cab for a YT video. I guess it speaks about how wonderful this company us.

Considering how many views Stavros gets, and how specialized his channel is, it's probably much better value for money to have the CEO talk with Stavros than to advertise in normal media.
What's weird is that Scania and Volvo don't do the same thing.

The old analogue dashboard is so much better. Man had one of the best looking analogue dashboards, and now they go the cheap way and replace it with digital dashboard which looks nothing like the original stuff.
MANs have improved no end. I drove the XXL big cab with a 510 bhp engine. What an awesome bit of kit if you are a tramper. A real premium tractor unit now, only the exhaust brake set up I felt could be improved everything else was fantastic
MANs always just look so sharp and understated. Not showing off, just a good truck getting the job done. A very respectable approach!

The Piano Black from the previous models was nice as it was new but a few weeks later it was all scratched. So this is the better option.
White paint with the efficient line stickers are the best
MAN is always good, my fave after Volvo / Scania

trendsetter: Scania. Todays interiors are amazing.
I'm from the US and these trucks put ours to shame, especially in terms of driver comfort and attention to detail. Even the Volvo's here are nothing compared to over there. I've always been skeptical about the cabover configuration, but these trucks are just absolutely beautiful pieces of engineering. Makes me super envious 😁
@@hereandthere6877 you know what: I was always convinced that US trucks were way ahead in driver comfort and equipment and space. US trucks have full size bunks (beds rather), wardrobes, full size friges and TV, microwave etc.
The new Mercedes actors is has a way better interior but Mercedes is Mercedes I guess

Awesome video, thank you. Kudos to MAN, their new truck looks absolutely fantastic, especially the new interior.
The option of the switches inside the door is simple and genius. Not so keen on electronic park brakes, but at least they’ve moved it onto the dash! I would say over all this is a vast improvement on the previous generation design, but I’m still far more keen to see what DAF has to offer and feel it will blow everything else out of the water as far as competing with the Swedes. For real world drivers we all know the reality of fleet specs are Merc, DAF or MAN and if you’re really unfortunate IVECO. I feel Renault and DAF are going to push on and surpass these other brands to become ‘the best of the rest’ as they’ll match the quality and maintenance deals of the Swedes but remain cheaper to purchase and run over all. Great video again Stavros!

@@rcruz2008 Generally, no. There is generally a fairly hard barrier between North America and the EU in terms of regulation and industry preferences for style and accouterments of trucks, and of course the length restrictions that govern truck size in the EU are basically extinct in NA (hence the massive sleepers and 53'/16m long trailers). There's also significant difference in distances; 95% of all trucking in the EU would be called "regional" in NA, so the trucks are not really fitted for the sort of long, transcontinental trips that make up a substantial portion of US trucking. The sleepers are downright tiny by comparison!
Not to say there isn't some crossover. PACCAR has been bringing in DAF LFs ad rebadging them as Kenworth and Peterbilt for the sorts of city work where cab-overs work better than long-noses.

I thought Volkswagen styling and interior on the new Scania was gunna be hard to beat. But this new man looks amazing. Simple easy to use but stylish. The door buttons are an excellent touch. Nothing worse then jumping out to realise u haven’t unlocked passenger door or put cat walk light on and having to climb back in to the centre console to do so. Beautiful looking truck

Mmmm. I didn't expect that much new things.. in MAN. But big and small changes and improvements like buttons on driver side door the display and middle display with very lovely "wheel" for infotainment (like old BMW) but here with nice arm rest. It's very nice surprise, because I don't like old MAN (for his design for exterior also interior) but this new big MAN ... I like this. Maybe lov... But we see in real work.
I love this gold paint like VW . It's vw group I know. But I really, really like this MAN.
Please Scania And Volvo enthusiasm, don't kill me for my comment (Sweden trucks are a legend)

SCANIA and MAN are owned by VW now under the TRATON brand. So it is going to be more similar in future I guess.

The small step in the engine cover is good it stops the stones coming off your boots going over the cab. The foot rests in the passenger side were in the F90, F2000 possibly even before that

Yeah,what would you say 'bout the new stick but that it's better? Gimme back my Fuller twin split or the other. I wouldn't mind the engine ;-) But interms of the bed I rather have it with the innerspring mattress. Uh what a comport. Anyway the 361 Unterflur wasn't beatable
This truck was long overdue an update, I’ve never been a fan of MAN but I think they have brought this truck back into the race.

Well done to MAN as well, looks as if they have a competitive product line up, modern and practical. MAN organized a great event, probably very expensive to stage but fair play to them, and the range is fresh.

First truck was a man 321 with Eaton box. Loved it till I killed it. Kept driving when we should have long gone to bed . The good old days weren't that good really. Still at it though .

That's a usual BMW thing
To be honest he couldn't follow the line because he had to give way for the truck to turn and he couldn't use his brakes because he was scared that the car behind might have been a cop car because he removed the brake lights to save 3.7793 grams.

Every 5 years new & better trucks models ,meantime in the same universe driver salary ramains the same . Level of stress traffic & work are increasing ... sleeping remains the same in parking spots .also in the same universe fleet operators are struggling to survive with the same price per km from 2010 . I’m happy to see enthusiastic comments , philosophy of economics ,visionary thoughts .... but I’m wondering if people behind truck development are aware that on the supply chain of logistics maybe are the only one who are making decent profit? & the person who is driving is underpaid also the client who pays for the lease is underpaid ( I have 7trucks) it will be interesting to make a video about the real cost of making a truck . Nice channel ! Good work!
