    I admire the way your family strives to live with less waste. I wish the negative folks would be a bit more respectful. Keep doing what you’re doing. I’ll keep watching! And, love that your children are part of your videos. Real life with a real family. 💕

    Laura I make all my clearers and soaps etc. for me it all started when I was raising five kids on my own. However after they were grown and on their own I tried store bought and it broke me out so bad. On top of that if I even go down the lane if cleaners I start coughing and it effects my breathing. So back to making all soaps, cleaners etc.. if we were to use all natural etc products it would cost us a arm and leg. This is a way for me to one help my health and two help our wallets... Now I do wash all our clothes in washtubs and use a wood wash board and wringer so I make bar laundry soap. I also make all our dish soap etc.... another great way to repurpose the water for garden areas etc since I'm not using any chemicals in my dishes or laundry..

    I'm spoiled my mom makes her own laundry bars we use for our laundry soap recipe. We find it works very well and it may have a smell. I add essential oil and vinegar in my last wash to help scent my laundry. My family can't take fake scents so this works well for us.

    You can do just about everything with vinegar, baking soda and dawn. I clean my entire house with these three ingredients

    Great information.. I have the borax already… and have felsnaptha as well… I just need to squeeze it in around hubby’s trips (I go) and my gardening… guess when I run out of what I have bought I’ll shake my head and say “I “shoulda done this earlier”!

    You are very wise making your own cleaning products. You don't need much laundry soap anyway..the agitation of the washer does most of the cleaning. And getting out of debt is a big win for everyone. I so admire what you do.😊Greatgrandma from Michigan.

    I have a HE top load without an agitator with the option of extra water. And I've made powered soap grounded up into fine powder. I've used about 2 dozen times. I have a medium sized container with soap. Would you think it's still OK to use with extra water? We are a family of 5 with a baby due in 4 weeks. Only 2 of us work. So I'm trying to save as much as I can. And it's ALOT of soap. Suggestions?

      @TealHouseFarm  2 місяці тому +1

      From what I understand it’s ok if you are able to override the water function. I’d run a few loads and see if you feel like the soap has completely rinses off your clothes…if it looks good then you should be fine! And good wishes for the new baby!!

      The problem is with soap scum. Soap deposits it because it reacts with hard water contaminants. Soap also needs hot hot water and vigorous agitation; that’s not how HE washers are designed. Use products designed to be used in that kind of washer. What’s hard about that??

    Homemade is always better. Nice to know about the type of machine you shouldn’t use it in though. Thanks for sharing.

    I have an HE washer set. I buy the soap from the store we got machines from many moons ago. That soap a little goes a long ways.
    My HE machine cleans very well. The laundry soap last me a long time. Probably over a year all you use is maybe a tablespoon at the most or less.

      How many in your family and how many loads do you do a week?

      @@annamaria8755 I have two of us now kids grown and gone but I do work clothes for the oil field.
      Plus I have dogs beds to wash their blankets . I know people who have 4 kids who love their HE.
      I used to buy laundry soap from the grocery stores and seemed to spend a fortune. When we were doing oil field with regular washing machine before we got our HE it did not last nor did I feel it cleaned my clothes . The darn thing quit. After 5 or 6 years. I know oil field clothes don’t help it but they weren’t as bad as some jobs in the oil field. Not as greasy
      This machine we’ve had 8 or 9 yrs and still going strong. We’ve replaced a part but haven’t bought a new machine . Parts wear out. Fixed it once
      I take care of my machine and do not abuse it.
      I realize with more people in the family more use and wear and tear on the machine. I know I had adopted a son and did foster care and respite care and had a friend who had to haul water in order to wash cloths use our machine and they had 3 kids . She did 5/6 loads once a week with my machine. I get it. Been there.

    Here in Canada where I am it’s hard to find some of the products such as the washing soda, I have never seen it and I’ve looked and we don’t have fels naptha. Would have to order on Amazon and the prices are kind of stupid…..lol. I bought some kirks Castile soap on Amazon to try your hand soap though…. Not sure the cost is worth it here…. How much do you pay for the bar soap? I do admire the steps you take to make your own products.🙂. As far as the washing machine I have a front loader he machine and would never get that again, I would go back to top loader non he machine.

    • @TealHouseFarm
      @TealHouseFarm  2 місяці тому +1

      The product names are probably different! Fels naptha is just a laundry bar. Other brand in the US is Zote. But any type of solid laundry bar should do the trick. Super washing soda is sometimes called washing soda, soda ash, or sodium carbonate. So poke around your laundry aisle and see if something similar is there! We pay about $1 a bar for either the laundry soap bar or the Castile soap bar

      She’s clueless. Her recipe and dose deliver a whopping 0.05 oz of soap per load….the weight of a paper clip! What a fool!

      Yes I’ve seen those too. It’s in the “mehhhh” cleaner category lol. In our house I feel like it’s good for just general daily cleaning. Deep cleaning or wiping up raw meat juices, etc I use either a bleach or homemade rubbing alcohol wipes to be safe

    It barely took you any time to make the soap. You’d have to make A LOT of money per hour working overtime at your job for it not to be worth your time outside of your regular work day to make laundry soap regardless of family size. Great video💕
