SEVERE STORM HITTING HAULOVER INLET !! Captains Ignore Marine Warning !! BOAT ZONE

  • Haulover Inlet is currently facing a challenging weekend forecast marked by persistent threats of gusty winds and heavy rainfall. The marine conditions in the local waters are perilous, extending through the entire weekend with easterly gale force winds sweeping across the Atlantic. As the storm's center approaches the Florida coast, the region can anticipate not only heavy rainfall but also intensified gusty winds, reaching their peak on Saturday evening. Widespread wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph pose a potential hazard across much of the Florida Peninsula until Saturday night, with a heightened risk of strong rip currents along the Atlantic beaches. The persistent northeasterly winds may lead to minor coastal flooding along the Atlantic coastline throughout the week. Presently, the beach and marine conditions are exceptionally hazardous, characterized by gale-force winds, high waves, elevated surf, and rip currents, demanding heightened caution from residents and visitors alike.

The weather at Haulover Inlet this weekend is pretty rough. Only a few dare to go out. Would you risk taking your boat out while the storm is hitting the inlet?

I'm not sure I'd risk coming back in the inlet if conditions like this came up suddenly. I'd never take one out in this. I'd prefer to stand on the jetty with a bullhorn and give free advice on parenting to some of these fools.

Nope… and especially not with kids or pets! Also, I noticed in these videos that the police boats usually only have one officer on board. Seems strange… you would think that if the boat is sent to attend an incident that you need someone on the helm at all times so what is he going to do???

There's a huge waist-deep sandbar just around the corner on the inland side. Hundreds of people hang out there and party. Most of the family boats have been there and Dad's been fighting off dehydration so he decides to give the kids a little thrill by popping out for a minute into the scary water. Clueless people who think a boat's like a car.

02.33 The little boy holding the puppy kept shouting at his dad when he went over a big wave. Dad took the hint turned around and headed for calmer waters. He had the right idea, why risk your family especially when no one was wearing a buoyancy aid.

Yeah. This baffles me in all these videos. Child or adult, the risk is high. Wear a PFD, even adults in inflatable one would be better. I sail, which is a bit different (more moving parts) and always wear a PFD. But kids??? Put them in a PFD.

Being a bit of a boatie myself and having worked on a trawler, it would take me 5 minutes of looking at the water in and beyond the inlet to tell me, 'Nup, not going outside today. Too windy. Too choppy and there's a good size swell to make things uncomfortable'

0:54 parents take their children out in these treacherous waters. The kids don't appear to be enjoying themselves. They are wearing PFDs but the parents *aren't.* In a rollover situation, the parents would be of no help to those kids...excuse me "future orphans." @@BoatZone Understood but I think the issue is that you are trying to get close up of the boats all the time and thus are zoomed in so far that vibrations from wind are exaggerated and make it very shaky. Also the boat (subject) needs to be seen in context with its surroundings - so ideally the boat should take up aroundd 50% of the screen real estate with the occasional close up if that's what the boat owners want to buy. Just my 2c.
